Abstract

This study explores the role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in providing preventive and protective education for persons with disabilities who have experienced sexual violence, viewed through a social work perspective. The research conducts a qualitative literature review which analyzes academic articles and institutional reports along with relevant publications that cover disability and sexual violence and social protection matters. The findings show that sexual violence against persons with disabilities cannot be seen solely as an individual issue, but rather as a consequence of structural inequality, social stigma, limited access to services, and weak institutional responses. In this context, NGOs play an important educational role by promoting public awareness, legal advocacy, psychosocial support, preventive education, and collaboration with other institutions. From a social work perspective, non-governmental organizations function as both service providers and advocates for developing more inclusive protection systems that respond to human needs. Strengthening collaboration and institutional capacity is therefore essential to ensure sustainable and rights-based protection for persons with disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using the motion analysis application CoachView on students' understanding and skills in basic punching and kicking techniques in pencak silat among seventh-grade students at SMPN 2 Sumenep. The background of this research lies in the low levels of understanding and performance of students in pencak silat, which is still taught through conventional methods. Therefore, there is a need for innovative technology-based learning media. This study employed a true experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two randomly selected classes, each with 32 students, divided into an experimental group (using CoachView) and a control group (conventional learning). The research instruments included a skill performance test and a comprehension questionnaire on basic pencak silat techniques. The results showed a significant improvement in both comprehension and skill performance in the experimental group. The average posttest score for technical skills was notably higher than that of the control group. The t-test analysis indicated a significance value of less than 0.05, confirming a statistically significant effect of CoachView usage. Furthermore, the validity and reliability tests of the instruments showed that all instruments were valid and highly reliable (α = 0.882 for the questionnaire and α = 0.910 for the skill rubric). In conclusion, the use of the CoachView application is effective in enhancing students' understanding and technical skills in pencak silat. This technology provides clear visual feedback and enables students to identify and correct movement errors independently. The study recommends the integration of CoachView as an alternative learning media in physical education classes.

Abstract

The low conceptual understanding and mathematical calculation skills of elementary school students remain a challenge in improving the quality of learning. Uniform and procedural-oriented learning has not fully accommodated differences in student learning readiness, resulting in students having difficulty understanding the meaning of concepts and lacking the skills to perform arithmetic operations accurately and confidently. Although differentiated learning has been widely studied theoretically, empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of differentiated learning-based learning readiness processes on these two aspects is still limited. This study aims to analyze the effect of differentiated learning on conceptual understanding and mathematical calculation skills of fifth-grade students. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were 27 students, consisting of 16 students from the experimental class and 11 students from the control class. The research instruments included a conceptual understanding test and a mathematical skills test. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, Wilcoxon tests, and Mann-Whitney tests at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that differentiated learning significantly influenced students' conceptual understanding and mathematical skills (p < 0.05). In addition, there was a positive and significant relationship between conceptual understanding and mathematical skills. These findings indicate that process differentiation based on learning readiness is effective in strengthening conceptual construction while increasing elementary school students' mathematical fluency and accuracy.

Abstract

Lontang Dance, a ritual performance from Purwaraja, Ciamis, operates as a medium of cultural communication beyond its aesthetic function. Although prior studies address its symbolic meanings, limited attention has been given to how its performance structure organizes communicative processes. This study examines the presentation structure of Lontang Dance as a symbolic communication system through symbolic interactionism, cultural communication theory, and ethnocoreology. A qualitative focused ethnography was conducted using participant observation, in-depth interviews, and visual documentation, with data analyzed thematically. The findings identify four structural phases opening, core, participatory, and closing each serving distinct communicative roles: spiritual legitimation, embodied value expression, collective interaction, and social redistribution. These phases actively shape how meanings are produced and negotiated among participants. This study offers a novel contribution by positioning performance structure as an operative symbolic communication system, extending symbolic interactionism into the analysis of ritual performance.

Abstract

This study examines emotional coping strategies among mangosteen farmers who face persistent uncertainty due to climate variability, unstable market prices, and long production cycles. Emotional coping is conceptualized as a set of internal processes that enable farmers to regulate stress, maintain psychological stability, and sustain their livelihoods. Using a qualitative approach, the study identifies four dominant coping patterns: acceptance, spiritual coping, social emotional support, and cognitive reframing. Each strategy is analyzed in depth to understand its function, process, and impact on resilience. The findings reveal that emotional coping is not passive but constitutes an active adaptive mechanism that allows farmers to endure uncertainty over time. The study contributes by providing a detailed conceptualization of emotional coping in agricultural contexts, highlighting its central role in sustaining farmer resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factual conditions of social-emotional learning for children aged 5–6 years, develop a storybook based on the local wisdom of Bintan Island, test the feasibility of the product, and evaluate its effectiveness. The study used the Research and Development method with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), which was implemented at YKPP Tanjung Uban Kindergarten, Bintan Regency, in March–May 2025. The subjects of the study were 24 children in group B. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and expert validation sheets; then analyzed descriptively, thematically, and gain score. The results showed that 62.5% of children had not achieved optimal social-emotional development, with self-control as the lowest indicator (47.9%). The product developed was a 20-page A4 landscape format storybook with five marine biota characters from Bintan Island and a teacher's guide. The product's feasibility was in the very feasible category with an average of 94.6% (content experts 93.3%; language experts 95.0%; media experts 95.6%). The effectiveness test showed an increase in the average score from 25.75 to 41.25, with a 69.7% gain in the medium category. Qualitative findings also demonstrated the transfer of learning to children's real-life behavior. Therefore, the storybook based on local wisdom from Bintan Island is suitable and effective as a social-emotional learning medium for early childhood.
