Abstract

This study aims to elucidate the determinants of impoverished conditions and analyze the proactive role of the Nagari Government in mitigating destitution within Nagari Sisawah, situated in the Sumpur Kudus District of Sijunjung Regency. Employing a qualitative approach with descriptive techniques, this research centers on key participants including Nagari leaders, officials, and the local community. The study's findings reveal that the origins of poverty within Nagari Sisawah encompass several factors, including insufficient economic returns from rubber cultivation for sustaining families, the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, and constrained employment prospects due to limited educational attainment. The Nagari government has made various efforts to overcome poverty, namely providing socialization and information on economic activities to the community, assisting the community in making proposals to obtain superior seeds and providing assistance to the community through various programs such as PKH and Direct Funding for the community.

Abstract

This article discusses the changes and continuities in the structure and function of nagari, Minangkabau “traditional” village. Many scholars consider nagari as an autonomic “village republic” which was ruled by local leaders based on customary law. Even though nagari has been incorporated into the national administrative structure during colonial and post-independence of Indonesia, nagari is still regarded as the source of legitimacy on customary law. Especially in the 2000s, nagari has given more authority in the national legal system in Indonesia. In this article, I describe how nagari in Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatra is divided into smaller units. In order to get more budgets for village management from central government, local leaders and village heads chose to divide the nagari into smaller villages administratively but maintained large nagari informally as a single community bound by customary law. Interestingly, the new administrative villages are also called “nagari” and are given authority on customary law. This created a situation in which formal smaller but administrative nagari co-exists with larger yet informal nagari. What are the consequences of this dualism? By analyzing the process of nagari division, I describe how several different notions of “nagari” have developed in one village.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of community empowerment through the kapalo samek embroidery training by the familly empowerment and welfare organization. This study held at Kanagarian Kamang Mudiak, Kamang Magek District, Agam Regency. The study used in descriptive qualitative methods. The determination of informants in this study used a purposive sampling technique using data collection techniques including observation, interviews and documentation studies. The results of the study showed that the implementation of community empowerment through the training of the Kapalo Samek embroidery in terms of the aspects of planning, implementation and evaluation had not had a significant impact on improving the family economy in Kanagarian Kamang Mudiak. This can be seen from the small number of trainees who complete their training and open business after the training is given. This was due to various obstacles that arose during its implementation including: limited training participants, lack of competent human resources in the embroidery field, no follow-up of the training activities, and limited funds. The positive implications felt by the training participants, especially training participants who have opened embroidery businesses, are increasing community knowledge and skills, opening up employment opportunities and running the Kamang Mudiak nagari government program.

Abstract

In the contemporary millennial era, a pressing concern affecting teenagers in Indonesia pertains to the proliferation of radicalism among students. This study endeavors to explore the pivotal role played by educational institutions, specifically SMP Negeri 3 Serang city, in mitigating the influence of radicalism. It seeks to identify the underlying factors that render students vulnerable to radical ideologies. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, this research investigates the effectiveness of schools in counteracting radicalism, with a particular focus on citizenship education. The study reveals that teachers impart essential lessons on national unity, emphasizing the importance of fostering a cohesive nation among students. Additionally, the school collaborates with various stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies such as the police, to disseminate information and combat radicalism. Furthermore, this research identifies internal factors, predominantly rooted in family dynamics, and external factors, linked to the students' surrounding environment, as contributors to susceptibility to radicalism among students. It is important to note that this study's scope is limited to a specific secondary school in Serang.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of policies to accelerate the reduction of stunting in Padang Lawas Regency with a qualitative descriptive method. The research was conducted in several agencies and related parties in Padang Lawas Regency. Data collection techniques were obtained through interviews, observation and documentation. The results show that the implementation of accelerated stunting reduction is carried out in the form of mother and child services, providing iron supplement tablets (TTD), social assistance and provision of sanitation and clean water. However, this program has not been successful due to low awareness of the community to participate in mother and child services at posyandu, low awareness of adolescents and pregnant women to take iron tablet suplements, social assistance that is not on target and limited availability of clean water and adequate sanitation infrastructure. This study concludes that to achieve the policy objective of accelerating stunting reduction, support from the local government, local governments and the wider community is needed.

Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of the Child Friendly School (CFS) program at SMPN 2 Kota Ternate, focusing on analyzing the components of CFS. It employs a qualitative descriptive approach using the Pathway Comparison Model by Kaufman (1990) for evaluation. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observations, and the collection of documentary evidence. The evaluation results indicate that the school has implemented the CFS program with various efforts, such as creating a safe and inclusive learning environment and providing training on children's rights to the educational staff. However, there are several aspects that still require improvement, including the cleanliness of school facilities and the conditions of specific classrooms. Recommendations for improvement encompass strengthening training on children's rights, enhancing the cleanliness of school facilities, renovating classrooms and increasing monitoring and evaluation of the CFS program. The participation of students, parents, and alumni should continue to be promoted through organizations, social media, and regular meetings to support the CFS program.
