Abstract

Early childhood children's understanding of the procedures for Dhuha prayer is still low because the learning process is predominantly verbal, so a method that suits the characteristics of children's learning is needed. This study aims to describe the implementation of the exposure method in improving children's understanding of the procedures for Dhuha prayer at RA Assalafiyah Gedongsari Blora. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with children aged 5-6 years old at RA Assalafiyah Gedongsari Blora as research subjects, while the informants are the principal and class teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and verification of conclusions. The results of the study show that children's understanding of the procedures for Dhuha prayer has increased quite significantly after the implementation of the maintenance method. The results of the study show that children's understanding of the procedures for Dhuha prayer has increased after the implementation of the savings method. Children who understood the procedures for Dhuha prayer were initially only around 5 children, then increased to an average of 13 children. This shows that the enhancement method is effective in helping early childhood children understand the procedures for Dhuha prayer better. In conclusion, the reinforcement method has proven effective in improving early childhood's understanding of the procedures for performing the Dhuha prayer as a whole.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on educational systems worldwide, leading to widespread school closures and disruptions to early childhood education. This situation has affected the readiness of young children to progress to higher levels of education (elementary school). This study aims to examine differences in school readiness between kindergarten student groups before and during the pandemic. A comparative study design was used, assessing 36 kindergarten students, with 10 students from each group, using the Nijmeegse Schoolbekwaamheids Test (NST). The NST consists of 10 subtests measuring various aspects of school readiness, including cognitive, social-emotional, and physical developmental skills. Statistical analyses were conducted to compare school readiness profiles between the two groups. The results showed no statistically significant differences between the pre-pandemic and post-pandemic groups in terms of overall school readiness. However, univariate analysis indicated significant differences in Subtest 3 (understanding of size, quantity, and comparison) and Subtest 4 (accuracy and detail in visual perception), where the pre-pandemic group performed better than the post-pandemic group. The effect sizes for these subtests were considerable, indicating meaningful practical differences in these two abilities. These findings highlight the impact of educational disruptions on certain aspects of school readiness and underscore the need for targeted interventions to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic on early childhood education, especially regarding quantitative reasoning and visual perception skills.

Abstract

The ability to recognize Hijaiyyah letters is an essential skill that should be introduced in early childhood because it serves as the foundation for reading the Qur’an and supports the development of children’s religious and moral values. Early childhood is considered the golden period of development, making appropriate learning stimulation necessary to optimize all aspects of growth, including early religious literacy. However, observations at TK Negeri Pembina Pemulutan Barat showed that many children aged 5–6 years still had difficulty recognizing Hijaiyyah letters, particularly in distinguishing letters with similar shapes and sounds. These challenges were influenced by conventional teaching methods and the limited use of engaging learning media suitable for young learners. Therefore, this study aimed to improve children’s ability to recognize Hijaiyyah letters through the use of flashcard media designed to be visually appealing and easy for children to understand. This research employed classroom action research using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. The subjects consisted of 13 children in group B3, comprising 7 boys and 6 girls, with one classroom teacher involved as a collaborator. The findings showed a significant improvement in children’s recognition abilities. In the initial condition, only 15.38% of the children were in the “developing as expected” category. After the implementation of flashcards in cycle I, the percentage increased to 53.85%. Further improvement occurred in cycle II, where 23.08% reached the same category and 76.92% achieved the “very well developed” category. These results indicate that flashcard media is effective in enhancing young children’s ability to recognize Hijaiyyah letters.

Abstract

Background: Violence against early childhood remains a critical issue in the study of child development and family psychology, particularly when parenting practices tend to be harsh, unresponsive, or inconsistent. This study aims to analyze the role of positive parenting and authoritative parenting in reducing the risk of violence against young children based on theoretical reviews and recent empirical findings. The research method used is library research by examining various scientific journals, books, and relevant research results. The findings indicate that both parenting styles contribute to reducing the risk of violence through the application of warmth, responsiveness, non-violent discipline, two-way communication, and consistent rules that support the creation of a safe and harmonious caregiving environment. Positive parenting and authoritative parenting also enhance children's emotional regulation and reduce parental stress, thereby minimizing the potential for aggressive behavior from parents. In conclusion, positive parenting and authoritative parenting are evidence-based strategies that effectively prevent violence against early childhood while supporting optimal emotional and social development

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of early childhood social skills as a provision for interacting, collaborating, and communicating with the social environment. This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation of entrepreneurship learning in familiarizing children aged 5-6 years with social skills. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach implemented at TK Alam Mutiara Umat Tulungagung with research subjects consisting of 1 principal, 3 group B teachers, and group B students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis used data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that entrepreneurship learning is implemented through various activities based on direct experience, such as buying and selling and cooking classes that are integrated into daily learning. Children's involvement in these activities contributes to the development of social skills, especially in communication skills, cooperation, social interaction, and self-confidence. The research findings indicate that social skills habituation is not only formed through Market Day activities as found in many previous studies, but also through various entrepreneurial activities carried out on an ongoing basis. Thus, entrepreneurship learning contributes as a means to familiarize early childhood social skills through authentic learning experiences integrated into daily learning activities.

Abstract

Fine motor skills in early childhood require stimulation through activities that suit their characteristics. However, in the field, children are still found to have difficulty coordinating finger movements and limited use of manipulative media. This study aims to describe the process of stimulating fine motor skills in children aged 4-5 years through clay play activities in Group A of RA Asy-Syuhada'. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with 9 children as purposively selected subjects. Data were collected through observation and interviews. The results showed that clay play activities can stimulate children's fine motor skills through squeezing, pressing, rolling, and shaping activities. These activities train the strength of small muscles in the hands, improve eye-hand coordination, and flexibility of children's fingers. Thus, playing with clay is proven to be effective as a medium for stimulating fine motor skills in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of role-playing activities in promoting the social-emotional development of children aged 5–6 years. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed at RA Asy Syuhada'. The participants consisted of 15 Group B children and their classroom teacher. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that role-playing activities effectively promote children's social-emotional development, particularly in communication skills, self-confidence, cooperation, empathy, and peer interaction. Among these indicators, self-confidence and social communication skills emerged as the most prominent improvements, as children became more confident in expressing their ideas and interacting with their peers during learning activities. This study also demonstrates that role-playing provides meaningful and contextual learning experiences by actively engaging children in authentic social situations. Therefore, role-playing can be considered an effective learning strategy for supporting children's social-emotional development in early childhood education.

Abstract

Numeracy skills are a crucial aspect of early childhood cognitive development, playing a key role in fostering logical and systematic thinking as well as problem-solving abilities. This study aims to improve children’s numeracy skills through the use of flashcards in Group A at RA IT Cendekia Kebonagung Demak. This study employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The study sample comprised 10 children. Data collection techniques involved observation and documentation. The results indicated that the children’s numeracy skills showed significant improvement in each cycle. In the pre-cycle stage, most children were in the “Not Yet Developed” and “Beginning to Develop” categories. After the intervention in Cycle I, there was an improvement to the “Developing as Expected” category, and in Cycle II, most children reached the “Developing Very Well” category at 78%. The use of flashcards proved effective in improving children’s ability to recognize number concepts, recite numbers, use number symbols, group objects, and understand the concepts of “many” and “few” through concrete and enjoyable learning activities. Thus, flashcards can be used as an effective learning strategy in developing numeracy skills in early childhood.
