Abstract

Sexual harassment is an act of sexuality in the form of physical or non-physical touching that can occur in various spheres of the environment, such as social or educational. However, not all individuals dare to report acts of sexual harassment. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that may influence the reporting of acts of sexual harassment against students in East Java. This study uses a quantitative and qualitative approach. The research subjects totaled 102 people from a predetermined population using a probability sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that the experience of sexual harassment (sig. of the change 0.000 < 0.05) and cognitive perceptions/opinions (sig. of the change 0.054 > 0.05) are factors that influence the reporting of acts of sexual harassment against students in East Java . This shows that there are many students who have experienced sexual harassment, and the action that is most often taken is to report the perpetrator.

Abstract

Test anxiety is a real problem that a group of students suffer from in their different stages of education, and it is a source of concern not only for students but also for their whole families. Thus, this paper aims to investigate the impact of electronic tests on students’ anxiety and their academic achievement at Qatar University. A quantitative approach was used to test the hypotheses of this study, and a questionnaire was designed and distributed to the study sample, which consisted of 400 female students at Qatar University. In addition, a quasi-experimental study was adopted, where female students were split into an experimental group with an electronic test as well as a control group using a traditional test. The results showed that there are negative attitudes among students towards electronic tests. The results also found that the electronic tests raised the level of test anxiety among Qatar University students in contrast to the traditional tests. Moreover, the study found that students had higher academic achievement on traditional tests than on electronic tests. Finally, more attention must be directed towards addressing electronic test anxiety, in addition to designing or building remedial counseling programs to reduce levels of electronic test anxiety among female students at Qatar University.

Abstract

This abstract offers a succinct overview of a comprehensive analysis of the integration of legal education into Bangladesh’s secondary and higher secondary educational framework. It explores how teaching legal information at a young age can help pupils develop civic engagement, legal literacy, and awareness. Using qualitative approaches to analyze integration potential and difficulties, the study assesses the current condition of legal education in the curriculum. Interviews with students, instructors, legislators, and legal experts provide qualitative data that illuminates how legal education influences students’ moral and intellectual development. The study emphasizes the benefits of including legal education in the secondary and upper secondary curriculum since it fosters ethical reasoning, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of legal topics. It also identifies obstacles to successful implementation, including problems with curriculum integration and resource limitations. The conclusions emphasize the significance of comprehensive legal education in developing responsible persons capable of navigating legal intricacies and making recommendations for improving Bangladdesh’s educational system through curriculum, teacher training, and legislative changes. These observations underline the critical role that legal education plays in developing socially conscious persons in secondary and higher secondary schools, and they greatly add to the current discourse in Bangladesh regarding education reform.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between the level of emotional intelligence and the level of work fatigue in playgroup and kindergarten teachers. The research participants were 100 teachers from various educational institutions at the playgroup and kindergarten levels in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The instruments used included the emotional intelligence scale and work fatigue scale. The data collection method was through a scale distributed to participants which was then analyzed by using the Karl-Pearson product moment analysis method. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a significant negative correlation between the level of emotional intelligence and the level of work fatigue in playgroup and kindergarten teachers (r = -0.672, p < 0.001). This showed that the higher the level of emotional intelligence, the lower the level of work fatigue felt by teachers. Vice versa, the lower the level of emotional intelligence, the higher the level of work fatigue felt by the teacher. The emotional intelligence variable contributed 45.1% to work fatigue, while the remaining 54.9% was influenced by other factors. This study provided important implications for future researchers as well as administrators of educational institutions and teachers to improve the understanding and development of emotional intelligence as a strategy to reduce the level of work fatigue in teachers at the playgroup and kindergarten levels. In an effort to improve welfare and the quality of teaching, fostering emotional intelligence needed to be integrated into training and professional development programs for teachers.

Abstract

Existing research has emphasized the significance of cognitive factors in facilitating reading comprehension. Nevertheless, there is limited understanding of how affective factors contribute to this aspect of English learning, particularly within the Indonesian context. This study examines the contribution of affective factors (learning motivation, academic self-efficacy, and self-concept) to English reading comprehension among senior high school students. Adopting a correlational research design, it analyzed data from 136 eleventh graders using multiple regression analysis. The data was collected using the Reading Comprehension Test, Learning Motivation Scale, Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, and Self-Concept Scale. The analysis revealed a significant positive contribution of learning motivation to reading comprehension, accounting for approximately 8.9% of the variance (t-value of 3.626, p-value of 0.000), while academic self-efficacy explained about 4.4% (t-value of 2.484, p-value of 0.014). However, self-concept was found to have no significant effect on reading comprehension (t-value of -0.022, p-value of 0.982). Collectively, learning motivation and academic self-efficacy explicated around 11.9% of the variability in reading comprehension scores, as evidenced by an F-statistic of 9.021 and p-value of 0.000. The study concludes that affective factors are crucial in reading instruction. It suggests educators integrate strategies fostering motivation and self-efficacy to enhance reading comprehension.

Abstract

Science literacy assessment is important to familiarize students with literacy questions based on aspects of science knowledge and its interaction with the environment, technology, and society. Students' low science literacy is often caused by teachers' low science literacy. This study aims to analyze (1) the science literacy skills of chemistry education students in basic chemistry courses; and (2) the science literacy skills of chemistry education students based on competency aspects which are divided into three achievement indicators. This research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, with subjects 21 semester 6 students of the chemistry education study program at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The instrument used was a scientific literacy test in the form of an essay test with 22 questions which have been validated by 2 chemistry education lecturers, and the test results with a test reliability of 0.629, as well as a difficulty level of 1 easy question, 19 medium, and 2 difficult. The results showed that (1) students' science literacy skills were in the "sufficient" category with an average score of 43.9. (2) Analysis based on competency aspects shows the ability to explain phenomena scientifically and identify scientific issues is in the sufficient category, but the use of scientific evidence is low. The findings are expected to provide input to improve learning and practice of science literacy in preparing students as future educators.
