Jurnal Pariwisata Terapan (JPT) is a biannual, peer-reviewed, open access academic journal dedicated to studies in applied tourism science in Indonesia. JPT invites authors in the field of applied tourism to submit manuscripts written in English or Bahasa Indonesia. The objective of JPT is delivering comprehensive knowledge on applied tourism science in Indonesia. JPT invites manuscript in three main topics, but not limited to an application of tourism science in hospitality industry, tourism businesses, and destination development in Indonesia. We encourage different perspectives on tourism science application to broader views in the field of tourism and contribute to tourism science development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Sudiroprajan Chinatown has tourist attractions that can support cultural tourism attractions in Surakarta City. With multi-ethnic acculturation in terms of annual celebrations to the special foods available in Sudiroprajan Chinatown Village. However, due to the pandemic the Sudiroprajan Pokdarwis was no longer active and resulted in the paralysis of the tourist attraction icon in Sudiroprajan Chinatown Village. The purpose of this study is to find out what attractions exist in Sudiroprajan Chinatown Village and then to analyze the inhibiting factors for the development of tourist attractions and come up with some suggestions so that they can attract tourists to visit. To get the data in this research is to do direct observation, documentation, and direct interview with the Head of Pokdarwis Sudiroprajan and look for literature studies related to the research problem. The results obtained are many tourist attractions in the form of the Kali Pepe and Grebeg Sudiro river crossings. See the Lion Dance and various culinary delights. The obstacles found were regarding inconsistent management due to the large number of youth volunteers who have their own busy lives and finally the Covid-19 virus. Further research is suggested to expand the attraction of cultural tourism around the Surakarta City area.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 yang melanda seluruh dunia, menyebabkan penyesuaian pada berbagai macam kegiatan, termasuk dalam bidang pariwisata. Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu daerah tujuan wisata yang terkena dampak pandemi tersebut. Beberapa penyesuaian yang dibuat, misalnya dengan adanya penutupan sementara destinasi wisata, pembatasan kunjungan, hingga penerapan protokol kesehatan pada seluruh aktivitas. Terbatasnya akses bagi wisatawan, menjadi hal yang berdampak besar baik bagi keberlangsungan pariwisata di destinasi ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dan memahami persepsi wisatawan terhadap citra afektif destinasi wisata yang ada di Yogyakarta, baik yang pernah maupun belum pernah mengunjungi destinasi ini. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara menggunakan kuisioner, dan studi pustaka. Observasi dilakukan pada aktivitas terkini yang ada di beberapa platform virtual tour. Wawancara dilakukan menggunakan sampel secara convenience sampling, pada 141 orang responden yang telah mengikuti virtual tour. Kuesioner diberikan dalam bentuk daring, yang disajikan dalam google form. Pustaka terkait dengan citra afektif juga digunakan untuk menyiapkan tahapan analisis. Hasil yang diharapkan, penelitian ini mampu menunjukkan persepsi wisatawan terhadap citra afektif di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, selama masa pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini memiliki keterbatasan, dikarenakan hanya melihat dari citra afektif tanpa melanjutkannya dengan citra kognitif. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan penelitian lainnya yang berkaitan dengan citra kognitif dengan tema yang sama.

Abstract

Budaya minum jamu pada bangsa Indonesia, khususnya Jawa telah berlangsung sejak zaman kuna, yaitu sejak 3.000.000 – 1.000 tahun sebelum Masehi. Hidup nenek moyang Jawa waktu itu tergantung pada alam. Dalam menjaga kesehatannya, mereka memanfaatkan unsur alam yang terdapat dalam dunia flora dan fauna. Caranya unsur-unsur dari dunia flora tumbuh-tumbuhan dan fauna itu diambil, dimanfaatkan secara langsung untuk jamu. Dokumen tertua menjaga kesehatan dengan minum jamu terdapat dalam relief Candi Borobudur, Magelang,Jawa Tengah. Candi ini dibangun pada abad ke-8 oleh Dinasti Sailendra, Kerajaan Mataram Kuna. Setelah mengenal huruf, ramuan jamu didokumentasikan dalam bentuk manuskrip, buku, dikerjakan secara intensif pada abad ke-18-19. Dokumen jamu di antaranya terdapat di Kasultanan Yogyakarta dan Kadipaten Pakualaman. Bahkan usaha produksi jamu sekarang juga masih eksis, di antaranya oleh Jamu Ginggang, Pakualaman, Yogyakarta. Teori klasifikasi jamu diterapkan guna menganalisis berbagai jenis ramuan jamu. Klasifikasi jamu, meliputi: jenis jamu, komposisi bahan, cara membuat, foto produk jamu, khasiat, sampai jamu siap minum diberdayakan sebagai atraksi daya tarik wisata. Analisis komponen daya tarik wisata atas atraksi jamu tersebut disertakan. Metode penelitian dilakukan melalui: wawancara dengan narasumber, pengamatan observasi langsung di lapangan, dan studi pustaka.

Abstract

Cultural and architectural elements are very important to be used as attraction in a Tourism Village. One example of a village that utilizes this potential as a tourist attraction is Pengotan Tourism Village. Pengotan Tourism Village was chosen in this study because of the existence of cultural and architectural elements that are still thick and need to be preserved. There are various traditions that characterize Pengotan Tourism Village that do not exist anywhere else. In terms of architecture, Pengotan Tourism Village still applies the concept of traditional architecture which is directly related to the natural resources that are owned around the village and the pattern of activities of its inhabitants is still influenced by their outlook on life. There are interesting things about the architecture of the Pengotan Tourism Village settlement, which on the one hand shows the diversity of its architecture and on the other hand it still shows consistency in the form and layout of the building. In this study, the things that want to be studied are what traditions are used as tourist attractions in Pengotan Tourism Village and how is the architecture of Pengotan Tourism Village settlements.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that hit the world and Indonesia in 2019 had a significant impact on almost all industrial sectors. The Covid-19 pandemic forced every government from various countries to issued travel warnings, namely an appeal and a travel ban, to prevent the virus's faster and wider spread. In fact, the government issued flight cancellations from and out of the country. Restrictions on mobility at home and abroad significantly affect the tourism industry, related to the number of visits to various tourist destinations in Indonesia. Virtual reality (VR) technology in the tourism industry has emerged since the 2009s, its role is still limited as tourism promotion tools. The current condition of the Covid-19 pandemic is forcing tourism actors to rearrange strategies for using VR technology so that they can temporarily substitute and meet the needs of the community in traveling through virtual tourism. Studies related to public perception and acceptance of alternative travel through this technology have not been widely carried out. This study aims to explore the development of virtual tourism by analyzing the perception and acceptance of the Indonesian people towards virtual tourism. The research method used is the descriptive quantitative method. The data collection using a questionnaire that refers to product concept testing. This study indicates that most respondents know about virtual tours, but most have never taken virtual tours and are interested in taking virtual tours and are willing to pay. In addition, most respondents consider that virtual tourism can replace physical tourism.

Abstract

The study of music in tourist destinations has been developed in recent years in Europe, the United States, and Asia. However, previous studies overlook the role of traditional music in urban tourism destinations, specifically in Indonesia. Music is essential to promote an urban destination, build destination image, lighten tourists’ mood, as well as create and improve experience values during destination visits. The present study aims to explore further tourist motivation and perception who watch angklung performances in Malioboro, Yogyakarta. It is also consistent that Yogyakarta is a popular destination for its culture and arts. The way how music affects tourist motivation and perception requires further investigation. Data was collected quantitatively by online survey, observation, as well as and interview to validate findings. The results show that there is a positive and significant influence among tourist motivation and perception of angklung performances, as a tourist attraction. Moreover, a lack of collaboration occurs between angklung players, destination managers, and stakeholders. This study suggests holistic information in terms of tourist motivation and perception towards musical performances within the urban destination, and practical implications for future research, as well as management of tourism destination development.

Abstract

Pong Torra’ is one of natural tourism attraction in Lolai Natural Tourism Area of North Toraja Regency, that is an expansion of Tana Toraja Regency, according the local regulation of Toraja Utara no. 7 in 2016. This district is focused on being developed as a tourism destination. A high level of tourist visits even reaches 1,000 visitors / day during the high seasons, tourism activities are increasing, while the limited space in the tourist area causes the density of visitors to the tourist area, which will continue to have a negative impact on both the visitor side and also the tourist attraction alone. In addition, according to the Decree of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia No.SK 434 / Menhut-II / 2009, Pong Torra 'is included in the Protected Forest Area of South Sulawesi Province. Therefore, it is necessary to implement visitor management. Qualitative research methods are used to obtain data, through observation, interviews and questionnaire collection. In the visitor profile, it is done by looking at geographical, demographic and psychographic aspects, where from the visitor profile it is known that the dominant visitors traveling in Pong Torra 'are middle-aged / adult visitors, male gender and low of money spending and domestic tourist visits are the highest. In this study, a combination of hard (hard) and soft (soft) approaches was carried out. Through the hard approach, the researcher uses the tourism carrying capacity calculation, which results in a PCC value of 25 visitors / day and an RCC value of 30 visitors / day, from which this value indicates the number of tourist visits that have exceeded the visitor capacity threshold. Meanwhile, a soft approach is carried out by directing and educating visitors through information dissemination and interpretation. The two approaches to managing visitors are carried out using their respective techniques.

Abstract

Deagrarianization in Indonesia has been happening since the 1970's where the proportion of gross domestic product in agriculture has been surpassed by industry. Tourism is one of the non-agricultural sectors that can help rural communities who live around tourist destinations to diversify their occupation and improve their welfare. This case study was conducted in Nglinggo Tritis, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region by collecting primary data by interviewing tourist destination workers and secondary data in the form of statistics and information from online news which is described with qualitative approach. Results showed that the tourist destination impacts the economy of rural communities around the tourist destination by giving them a chance to work outside the agricultural sector.

Abstract

The development of promotion media creates a flow of media innovation by utilizing technology and the internet. The use of the internet's position as a communication channel can provide information to potential tourists. Like any ecotourism promotion activity that needs to be completed with film screenings or presentations on the quality of ecotourism products, in which research in the form of a short documentary film as promotion media for Mangrove Blok Bedul Ecotourism is one of solution to the problems related about promotion. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach which research is carried out in natural conditions. Data collection method used are interviews, observation, questionnaires and documentation. The analysis technique includes data reduction, data display and conclusions made simultaneously until the data obtained is valid. The purpose of this study are to find out the potential of Mangrove Blok Bedul Ecotourism in Sumberasri village then it can be as a storyline of short documentary film. Furthermore knowing the pre-production, production and post-production processes of designing short documentary film. In additional, the results obtained are knowing the efforts to publish short documentary film that have been made by researcher through YouTube social media.

Abstract

The development of Instagram tourism objects in various parts of the world has encouraged many tourists to compete with each other to visit the place. Based on previous studies, it was stated that most of the visitors from this Instagram tourist attraction were millennials. In terms of terminology, Instagram tourism attraction is a tourist destinations which have unique, exist, and hits characters. It also used and utilized as photo hunting objects to share on Instagram accounts. The high interest of millennial tourists to produce and get the good photos has encouraged the development of similar Instagram tourism attraction. According to Gunn (1993), tourist destinations can attract tourist visits if it have several components such as attractions, services, information, promotions and transportation. However, these components are not the main focus in planning and developing Instagram tourism. The purpose of this article is to try to analyze the attractiveness of Instagram tourism attraction and it can be used as a reference in planning the management of Instagram tourism objects. This article used a qualitative method by using secondary data sources which are collected from several scientific articles, books, statistical data, and newspaper media. The results of this article found that the attractiveness of Instagram tourism attraction is actually a tourist activity that solely wants to pursue visual pleasure because the character of this attraction type is a blurry attraction. Therefore, planning of the development of Instagram tourism attraction must consider the components that can encourage to creating/producing good visual quality.
