Abstract

Samiran Tourism Village has developed since 2009 based on community empowerment, so it is necessary to identify its management aspects to realize sustainable tourism. The research method is a qualitative approach through data collection of literature studies, observation, in-depth and semi-structured interviews. The interview informants were Samiran Tourism Village stakeholders who were determined by purposive sampling method tailored to the research objectives. Data analysis was conducted descriptively qualitatively through three steps of reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Samiran Tourism Village has achieved sustainable tourism management by involving various stakeholders but still placing the community as the main actor through the management structure and framework, stakeholder involvement, and management of change. The level of participation was identified through 5 stages. The high category level is at the implementation stage of enjoying results, and reporting because the community is fully involved in it, while the moderate level of participation is at the decision-making and evaluation stages, where the community still plays a role but is not independent / cooperates with other stakeholders. The factors that determine the level of participation can be divided into two, internal and external. Internal factors that influence are gender, social position, length of stay, and local hero, while external factors are influenced by policies made by the government, so that it is beyond the authority of the tourist village and cannot be controlled.

Abstract

The development of tourism villages is an important issue in implementing sustainable tourism principles related to the triple bottom line concept. Pulesari Village is expected to become a tourist village that is able to integrate economic (profit), social (people), and environmental (planet) interests in managing its homestay business. The purpose of this research is to understand the homestay marketing model carried out by the Pulesari Tourism Village Manager in relation to the triple bottom line concept. This research uses data collection techniques through non-participatory observation, in depth interviews, and documentation. The results of this study found that the community owns assets in the form of homestays and is managed professionally together with an institution formed by the village. A percentage profit-sharing system is used as an instrument for sharing income from homestay management. However, efforts to maintain environmental quality are still not the main promotional material because there are still weaknesses, especially in waste management. The community as part of the subject of economic activity in Pulesari Tourism Village needs to be further involved in the process of homestay management and marketing while balancing economic, social and environmental interests.

Abstract

Travelers seeking authentic interactions with nature and culture are increasingly interested in destinations managed by the local community. Amidst the rising number of communities offering similar traveling experiences, operators seek a way to promote their destination and its distinctiveness. One of the ways to accentuate the particularity and the status of a tourist spot is by doing an online promotion in English, and artificial intelligence seems to open a window for its possibilities. This research aims to reveal how residents perceive the use of AI, including ChatGPT, in promoting their community-based tourist destinations. Residents participating in the research were invited to express their feelings and reactions towards AI-generated texts promoting a community-managed destination in the area they reside. Their reactions revealed three states of emotion: insecurity, uncertainty, and inauthenticity. They also reported an inability to make an informed decision due to a lack of key knowledge and skills, rendering the use of AI unproductive.

In addition to describing the stakeholder role identified based on the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) stages which is includes the exploration stage, the involvement stage, the development stage, the consolidation stage, the stagnation stage and the decline stage. The results show that Wisata Tani Betet has gone through 3 stages of the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC), which is the exploration stage, the involvement stage and the development stage. At each of these stages, stakeholders have carried out their respective roles, beside that local leadership and social capital owned by the Betet Village Government and Pokdarwis Regul, are factors that accelerate the development of tourism destinations. On the other hand, the lack of funding and the competencies of human resources is a barrier for tourism destinations to reach the next stage.

Abstract

Museums are present in the community as a place to see information and collections about events that occurred in the past. One of the museums that is well known by the public is Sonobudoyo Museum. Sonobudoyo Museum has a very strategic location because it is located in the center of Yogyakarta, which is a cultural city in Indonesia. Museums are closely related to educational tourism. Most junior high school students are in the age range of 12 - 17 years. As adolescents enter this stage, they acquire the ability to think abstractly by manipulating ideas, without dependence on concrete manipulation. The objectives of this research are 1) Knowing the type of educational content contained in the Sonobudoyo Museum. And 2) Knowing the effectiveness of delivering educational content at Sonobudoyo Museum on the understanding of junior high school students. The analytical tool used in this research is the Wilcoxon Test. The material to be analyzed is primary data obtained from direct observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The survey method is used to analyze the second research objective. The approach used is a quantitative approach. The results of the analysis show that the types of educational content available at Sonobudoyo Museum are pre-historic times, traditional children's games, travel and transportation, banquets and events, performing arts, traditional weapons, and clothing and batik. The results of further analysis regarding the effectiveness of the delivery of edu-tourism content at Sonobudoyo Museum on the understanding of junior high school students show that the delivery of edu-tourism content at Sonobudoyo Museum can provide an understanding of pre-historic times, traditional children's games, travel and transportation, banquets and events, performing arts, traditional weapons, and clothing and batik.

Abstract

Tourism destination development is a crucial program in supporting government efforts to strengthen the tourism sector. In addition to climate and scenery, which serve as primary assets, maximizing cultural and historical attributes, as well as organizing special events, is essential for destination development. Pulau Sibandang, with its unique geological structure and landscape, represents natural heritage and the geological evolution of the Toba eruption, along with its tangible and intangible cultural diversity. Strengthening the identity of the destination is key, as based on the Tourist Area Life Cycle (TALC) model, Pulau Sibandang is still in the exploration phase of tourism development. This early phase involves natural and cultural attractions that have yet to be fully maximized. Cultural event organization can be a powerful tool to attract tourists and build the destination’s reputation. This study employs the ADO-ODTWA (Analisis Operasi Objek dan Daya Tarik Wisata Alam) method to analyze the operational aspects of natural tourism attractions. The findings reveal that, while Pulau Sibandang has significant cultural and natural attractions, there are areas needing improvement, particularly accommodation and marketing. Recommendations include integrating community participation in event planning and enhancing infrastructure to better support tourism. The study identifies the potential for cultural event-based festivals and provides a prototype design for such events in Pulau Sibandang, Muara District, North Tapanuli Regency.
