Abstract

Students' prior knowledge at a superficial level is reviewed when they solve mathematical problems. This step is crucial to strengthen their knowledge and provide the necessary information required to solve the problems. The purpose of this study is to analyze how elementary school students' problem-solving abilities are affected by their levels of math anxiety. This research employs a qualitative descriptive analysis method with data collection techniques including tests and non-test methods, namely questionnaires and descriptive test questions. The non-test technique, in the form of a questionnaire, is used to assess students' levels of math anxiety, while the test technique, consisting of descriptive questions, is utilized to evaluate students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The sample for this study consisted of 37 students. The results showed that students with low and very low levels of math anxiety demonstrated excellent mathematical problem-solving abilities. Students with moderate math anxiety exhibited good problem-solving abilities. Students with high math anxiety displayed adequate problem-solving abilities. Meanwhile, students with very high math anxiety showed poor mathematical problem-solving abilities. Keywords: Mathematical Problem-Solving Ability, Math Anxiet

Abstract

Good learning design is a learning design that is adjusted to the needs of students in order to achieve the learning objectives that have been set. This study aims to analyze students' understanding of mathematical concepts in Realistic Mathematic Education learning with students who do not apply hypothetical learning trajectory to trigonometric comparison material. Quantitative research method with phonomology design. The subjects of this study were 28 students of class X IPA at SMA 1 Boyolali. The data and data sources in this study consisted of the results of observations of test answers, and interview results. Data collection techniques from written test results (diagnostic tests), interviews and observations. The results of the study obtained the results of the Mann-Whitney test on the post-test value data showed a significance value of 0.000 on students' conceptual understanding. This significance value is smaller than the significance level of α = 0.05 so that there is a significant difference in the average value of conceptual understanding between the experimental and control classes. So it can be concluded that students in the experimental class who were given mathematics learning treatment using RME-based HLT had a better conceptual understanding than students in the control class who were not given treatment.

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental science that plays an important role in everyday life. However, students' learning outcomes in this subject are still relatively low because the learning process is still dominated by conventional methods, which tend to make students feel bored and less interested. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to implement a more active learning model, in which students take on the primary role in the learning process, while the teacher acts as a facilitator. This study aims to determine the mastery of mathematics learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMPN 8 Lubuklinggau after participating in the cooperative learning model of Think Pair Share (TPS). The population consists of all seventh-grade students at SMPN 8 Lubuklinggau in the 2024/2025 academic year, totaling 224 students, with a sample of 32 students from class VII F. Data collection was conducted using a test technique in the form of four essay questions. The results of the t-test analysis showed that = 2,5 dan = 1,6955 (> ). Thus, it can be concluded that the average mathematics learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMPN 8 Lubuklinggau after participating in the Think Pair Share cooperative learning model are significantly complete. The students' average score was 72, with a mastery level reaching 78%..

Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of the set theory concept in mathematics with Islamic values found in hadiths, as well as its implementation in teaching based on the principle of tawhid (Islamic monotheism). Using a literature review method and a thematic analysis approach, this research identifies the connections between set theory concepts—such as the universal set, subsets, and set relations—and Islamic principles like tawhid, Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), and the classification of people based on faith as reflected in authentic hadiths. The findings reveal that these mathematical concepts can be analogized to Islamic teachings, thus providing a spiritual dimension to mathematics learning. The integration approach is expected to enhance students' conceptual understanding while also shaping their character in accordance with Islamic values. This study recommends developing mathematics learning strategies grounded in religious values to strengthen the relationship between science and Islamic teachings.

Abstract

Teachers play a central role in determining the success of the educational process, especially in mathematics learning, which requires a deep understanding of the subject matter. A professional mathematics teacher is expected to possess adequate Mathematical Content Knowledge (MCK) to deliver the material effectively. Therefore, prospective teachers need to be equipped not only with pedagogical skills but also with strong content mastery. This level of knowledge can be analyzed through the dimensions of the Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy, which includes factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive knowledge. This study aims to identify the Mathematical Content Knowledge abilities of prospective mathematics teachers based on the Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. The research used a quantitative method. The population consisted of seventh-semester students in the Mathematics Education (Tadris Matematika) Program at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. A total of 44 students were selected using cluster random sampling. Data collection techniques included non-test (questionnaire/self-report) and test (written questions). Data analysis involved data presentation, normality testing, and difference testing. The results showed that the Mathematical Content Knowledge of prospective mathematics teachers based on the knowledge dimensions of the Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy was consistent between test results and questionnaires. The highest level of MCK was found in the procedural knowledge dimension with a percentage of 27.12% based on the test results. There were no significant differences between male and female participants. Keywords: Mathematical Content Knowledge, Prospective Teachers, Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy

Abstract

Batik Ceplok Kasatrian is an Indonesian cultural heritage that is full of philosophical meaning but is less known by the younger generation. Therefore, the integration of batik in mathematics learning can be one of the strategies to preserve tradition of batik culture. This research aims to explore mathematical concepts, such as geometry, algebra, arithmetic, and statistics, in Batik Ceplok Kasatrian motifs. This research uses qualitative-ethnographic. The subject of this study is the Batik Ceplok Kasatrian motif. Data validity is obtained through source triangulation, while data analysis includes reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The exploration process is carried out by answering four main questions: "Where do I begin exploring?", "How can I discover it?", "How will I know if it has discovered something important?", and "How can I make sense of it?". The results show that of the four mathematical concepts, only two mathematical concepts are found in this batik, namely geometry and arithmetic. Geometry subconcepts include transformation (reflection, translation, dilation) and plane geometry (line segments, symmetry, congruence). Arithmetic subconcept includes integers (odd-even numbers). These findings can be integrated into mathematics learning through the development of ethnomathematics-based assessments oriented towards High Order Thinking Skills.
