Abstract

The phenomenon of low public interest in reading is the driving force for this study. This issue is said to be partially caused by a mismatch between readers' capacities and the high level of book gradation. The community's lack of interest in reading in Community Reading Parks (TBM) is the driving force for this study. This issue is believed to be partially caused by the inappropriate grading of the accessible books. The objectives of this study are to: (1) describe the gradation of books available at TBM in North Padang District, Padang City; (2) describe the reading interests of TBM visitors in North Padang District, Padang City; and (3) ascertain the relationship between book gradation and reading interest of TBM visitors in North Padang District, Padang City. This study is a quantitative correlational investigation. 44 TBM visitors from Padang City's North Padang District made up the study population. Cluster random sampling was used to sample 33 individuals, or 75% of the population. The product-moment percentage formula was employed in the data analysis method. The study's findings show that: (1) the gradation of books available at TBM in Padang Utara District, Padang City is described as good; (2) the reading interest of TBM visitors in Padang Utara District, Padang City is still described as low; and (3) there is a significant negative relationship between book gradation and the reading interest of TBM visitors in Padang Utara District, Padang City. Based on the study's findings, the following recommendations can be made: (1) TBM institutions can enhance the quality of TBM services and facilities by implementing more systematic variations in book gradation, and they can serve as a guide for creating literacy programmes that are suitable for visitors' reading levels. (2) The National Library can increase the book collection by providing assistance to TBM for the completeness of book types and variations in book gradation that are appropriate to the level of reading ability of visitors. (3) Additional research on book gradation and guest reading interest in community reading parks can be developed for the same study. Keywords: Book Gradation, Reading Interest, Visitors, Community Reading Parks, Non-formal Education.

Abstract

This research was driven by the low involvement of mothers with toddlers in posyandu activities at Posyandu Lembang Saiyo, Jorong Balimbiang, Tanah Datar Regency, which is suspected to stem from insufficient family support. The research sought to describe the state of family support, the extent of mothers' participation, and the connection between these two elements. It adopted a quantitative method with a correlational design. The research population consisted of 50 mothers with toddlers, from which 38 individuals were selected as the sample via purposive sampling. Data were gathered using questionnaires that had undergone prior validity and reliability testing. Data analysis incorporated descriptive statistics through percentages and inferential analysis via Pearson product moment correlation. Findings indicated that family support fell into the low category, while mothers' participation with toddlers was also low, particularly in terms of activeness and discipline. Hypothesis testing confirmed a significant and robust link between family support and mothers' participation, with a correlation coefficient of 0.787. In conclusion, greater family support correlates with elevated participation by mothers in posyandu activities. Thus, bolstering family support is vital for enhancing mothers' engagement in community health initiatives. Keywords: family support, participation, mothers with toddlers, posyandu

Abstract

Limitations of social development in children aged 5–6 years in Ambacang Kamba Village, Pesisir Selatan Regency, are the background for carrying out this research. The high levels of gadget use in early infancy are thought to be linked to this disorder, which may limit children's chances for face-to-face social engagement with classmates and adults. The objectives of this study include several things, namely: (1) to determine the level of gadget use in early childhood in Ambacang Kamba Village; (2) to describe the condition of social development of early childhood in the area; (3) to examine the relationship between the intensity of gadget use and the social development of early childhood. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population consists of 30 parents who have children aged 5–6 years in Ambacang Kamba Village. Based on calculations using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error, a sample of 28 parents was obtained as study respondents. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires. Next, the data were analyzed using percentage analysis to describe each variable, and the The Spearman Rank correlation coefficient (Rho) was used to test the relationship between the two variables. The research results indicate that the intensity of children's device use is high, while their social development is low. Furthermore, correlation analysis reveals a meaningful association between the level of device usage and early childhood social development. To support optimal social development, parents are advised to limit the duration of electronic device use by children and encourage direct interaction with others.

Abstract

This research was carried out due to the low level of participants’ interest in engaging in majelis taklim activities. This situation is assumed to arise from the lack of alignment between the learning materials delivered and the actual needs of the participants. The study aimed to identify the types of learning materials expected by participants, to describe their level of interest in attending the activities, and to analyze the relationship between these variables. A quantitative design with a correlational approach was applied in this study. The entire population, consisting of 25 participants, was involved as the research sample. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through percentage calculations and the Spearman Rank correlation method. The findings revealed that the learning materials provided had not fully met the participants’ needs, and their level of interest in attending the activities tended to be low. In addition, the analysis showed a significant relationship between the relevance of learning materials and participants’ interest in participation. These results suggest that improving the suitability of learning materials based on participants’ needs can enhance their engagement in majelis taklim activities. Keywords: Learning material needs, participants’ interest, majelis taklim
