Abstract

Type II diabetes mellitus is one of the chronic metabolic diseases that remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Its steadily increasing prevalence each year poses significant challenges to public health systems. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress levels and nutritional status with random blood glucose levels among pre-elderly patients with type II diabetes mellitus who were hospitalized at Grandmed Hospital, Lubuk Pakam. This quantitative study employed a correlational design. A total of 53 respondents were selected using purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Stress levels were measured using the Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS) questionnaire, while nutritional status was determined using the Body Mass Index (BMI). Random blood glucose data were obtained from laboratory test results and analyzed using the Spearman correlation test with a significance level of p<0.05 The analysis revealed a significant relationship between stress factors and random blood glucose levels (p=0.035), as well as between nutritional status and random blood glucose levels (p=0.026). Patients experiencing higher stress levels and excessive nutritional status tended to have higher random blood glucose levels compared to other respondents. Stress levels and nutritional status are significantly associated with random blood glucose levels among pre-elderly patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Therefore, effective stress management and proper nutritional regulation should be integral components of blood glucose control strategies to prevent long-term complications in older individuals

Abstract

The nutritional status of toddlers reflects their future health. Mothers' understanding of balanced nutrition plays a role in determining and providing appropriate food intake for toddlers. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between mothers' knowledge of balanced nutrition and the nutritional status of toddlers in the working area of the Sialang Bangun Purba Community Health Center. This study used a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 60 mothers with toddlers aged 0-5 years, selected using purposive sampling. Mothers' knowledge was obtained through questionnaires, while the nutritional status of toddlers was measured using anthropometry with weight-for-age as an indicator. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most mothers had a good level of knowledge (53.3%), and the majority of toddlers also had good nutritional status (53.3%). Based on the statistical test results, a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05) was obtained, indicating a significant relationship between mothers' knowledge and toddlers' nutritional status. Thus, if mothers have a good understanding of balanced nutrition, their children's nutritional status will also be better. Therefore, nutrition education for mothers is essential to encourage the implementation of healthy eating patterns and prevent nutritional problems in toddlers.

Abstract

Obesity is a growing public health issue, particularly among young adults such as university students. Lifestyle changes characterized by high consumption of fast food and low levels of physical activity are major contributing factors to the increasing prevalence of obesity. This study aimed to examine the relationship between fast food consumption habits and physical activity levels with the incidence of obesity among students of the Pharmacy Study Program at Medistra Health Institute, Lubuk Pakam. This research employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 59 students, selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) to assess fast food consumption habits, physical activity questionnaires to determine activity levels, and waist circumference measurements as an indicator of central obesity. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rho correlation test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed a significant relationship between fast food consumption habits (r = 0.596; p < 0.05) and physical activity (r = 0.389; p < 0.05) with obesity incidence among students. The findings indicate that students who frequently consume fast food and engage in low levels of physical activity are at a higher risk of developing obesity. In conclusion, unhealthy eating patterns and sedentary lifestyles are key factors contributing to obesity among young adults; therefore, preventive efforts through nutrition education and the promotion of regular physical activity are necessary within the university environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the competence of hospital administrative human resources (HR) and its influence on administrative performance at Grandmed Hospital Lubuk Pakam in 2025. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study population consisted of all administrative staff, with 80 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale, which was tested for validity and reliability. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents had high competence (67.5%) and good administrative performance (70%). Bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test showed a significant relationship between HR competence and administrative performance (p = 0.001). Multivariate analysis with logistic regression demonstrated that HR competence had a significant effect on administrative performance, with an Odds Ratio (OR) of 6.82 (95% CI: 2.35–19.80). This indicates that staff with high competence are almost seven times more likely to demonstrate good administrative performance compared to those with moderate competence. The study highlights the importance of strengthening hospital administrative HR competence through continuous training and development to support service quality and hospital competitiveness.

Abstract

Cleaning service personnel play a vital role in maintaining hygiene and sanitation within hospitals as an integral component of healthcare services. Excessive and prolonged workloads can lead to work-related fatigue, which may decrease productivity and elevate the likelihood of occupational accidents. This study aims to examine the relationship between workload and work fatigue among cleaning service staff at Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital in 2025. A quantitative research approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study involved all 65 cleaning service workers selected through a total sampling technique. Data were gathered using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square statistical test. The findings revealed that 29 respondents (44.6%) had low workloads, 20 respondents (30.8%) had moderate workloads, and 16 respondents (24.6%) experienced high workloads. Regarding fatigue levels, 23 respondents (35.4%) reported low fatigue, 24 respondents (36.9%) moderate fatigue, and 18 respondents (27.7%) high fatigue. The statistical analysis produced a p-value of 0.030, indicating a significant association between workload and work fatigue. It can be inferred that as workload intensity increases, the likelihood of experiencing fatigue also rises. Hence, effective and ergonomically oriented workload management strategies are essential to minimize fatigue and enhance the overall well-being and performance of cleaning service personnel within the hospital environment.

Abstract

Humans, organizations, and technology are essential components in the implementation of the Generic Regional Health Information System (SIKDA). To improve the quality of healthcare services at Waihoka Community Health Center in Ambon, it is expected that fast, precise, and accurate access to information will be available to support policy-making and decision-making in service delivery. This study is a descriptive qualitative research approach using in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis conducted with seven informants: one key informant from SP3 of the Ambon City Health Office, two main informants (the head of Waihoka Community Health Center and the administrative head responsible for SIKDA), and four supporting informants. The research findings indicate that the implementation of the Generic Regional Health Information System (SIKDA) at Waihoka Community Health Center has not been optimal. Several challenges were identified, including performance issues, a lack of human resources, and limited facilities and infrastructure (computers) in KIA-KAB, MTBS, laboratory, dental clinic, and cashier units. Additionally, there is no official decree appointing SIKDA officers, no guideline books or standard operating procedures (SOPs) for using SIKDA, non-real-time data entry, system errors, and a lack of integration between the P-Care application and the Generic SIKDA system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between service quality and patient satisfaction among post–Sectio Caesarea (SC) patients who are beneficiaries of the National Health Insurance – Contribution Assistance Recipients (JKN-PBI) at Grandmed Hospital Lubuk Pakam in 2024. Patient satisfaction is one of the key indicators in evaluating hospital service quality. Good service quality is expected to improve patient satisfaction, particularly among JKN-PBI participants who often face administrative and service-related challenges. This research employed a quantitative analytic survey with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all post-SC patients using JKN-PBI at Grandmed Hospital Lubuk Pakam. A total of 52 respondents were selected using the accidental sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between several dimensions of service quality and patient satisfaction, namely: 1) Speed of service (p = 0.049), 2) Courtesy and friendliness of staff (p = 0.021), and 3) Supporting service facilities (p = 0.023). Thus, the better the quality of hospital services, particularly in terms of responsiveness, courtesy, friendliness, and supporting facilities, the higher the level of patient satisfaction.

Abstract

The Emergency Department (ED) is a vital hospital service that is required to provide fast, accurate, and efficient care. However, administrative processes that are not fully integrated often prolong patient waiting times. This study aims to analyze the role of integrated administrative systems in reducing patient waiting times at the ED of Grandmed Hospital Lubuk Pakam in 2025. A quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach was applied, involving 100 patients and 20 administrative staff selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through patient waiting time observations, staff perception questionnaires, and hospital documents. The results showed that most staff assessed the integrated administrative system as effective (75%). The average patient waiting time decreased from 7 minutes to 4 minutes after the system was implemented, meeting the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s service standard (≤5 minutes). Spearman correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between administrative system effectiveness and patient waiting time (p = 0.002; r = –0.521). Simple linear regression further indicated that the effectiveness of the administrative system significantly contributed to reducing patient waiting times, with an effect size of 37% (R² = 0.37). In conclusion, the integrated administrative system plays an important role in improving the efficiency of ED services by reducing patient waiting times, and its continuous optimization is strongly recommended.
