In this regard, the school has a strategy, namely the Akhlak Star program which is used to trigger the enthusiasm of students in carrying out Islamic practices. This Akhlak Star is implemented from lower to higher classes. This activity is carried out routinely and consistently which is inseparable from the guidance of religious teachers and other educators. The habituation of Islamic practices is an effort to realize the foundation of pious and superior children. The habituation of Islamic practices aims for students at SDN 19 Kampung Baru to have religious character values. This research method is qualitative research with a descriptive analysis approach. Data collection in this study uses observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources are Islamic religious education teachers, homeroom teachers, and the principal of SDN 19 Kampung Kota Pariaman. Data analysis is done by data reduction, data presentation, and data verification.  The results of this study are that the author found religious character values in students during the implementation of the habit of Islamic practices, namely honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, empathy, sympathy, friendliness, and creativity. Participants who have been accustomed to carrying out the habit of Islamic practices did not feel any objection. In fact, when the time came to carry out the habit of Islamic practices, they immediately rushed and carried it out. In addition, the moral star has three categories, namely personal moral star, class moral star, and infaq moral star. Students who meet the criteria for moral stars will be given a reward as a form of appreciation from educators. The moral star is a school institution initiative designed to encourage, strengthen, and appreciate good behavior as well as the development and improvement of student character. Keyword : Religious Character; Yaumiyah Practices; Islamic Education

Abstract

This research investigates the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar (Independent Learning) curriculum in Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Ethics) education at MAN Kota Solok, focusing on enhancing student creativity. The study addresses the problem of how teachers plan, implement, and evaluate the curriculum to foster creativity and moral development among students. The primary objective is to explore the strategies and methodologies employed by educators in aligning the curriculum with national competency standards while promoting holistic student growth. To achieve this, the study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing classroom observations, interviews, and document analysis to gather data on teacher planning, implementation, and evaluation practices. The findings reveal that effective planning in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains significantly enhances student creativity. Collaborative learning strategies, such as group discussions and project-based activities, are instrumental in fostering creativity and moral development. Teachers play a pivotal role as mentors and role models, integrating Aqidah Akhlak lessons with school activities to ensure practical application of moral principles. Evaluation techniques, including cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor assessments, are crucial for measuring student understanding and internalization of moral values. The study concludes that structured planning, diverse teaching methods, and comprehensive evaluation are essential for achieving the goals of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum in Aqidah Akhlak education. These strategies not only enhance creativity but also cultivate moral and religious values, preparing students to become well-rounded individuals. The research contributes to the broader discourse on Islamic education by providing a framework for integrating independent learning principles with moral and ethical development.

Abstract

The global decline in Quranic memorization (Tahfiz) engagement among youth, driven by modern distractions and shifting educational priorities, poses a significant challenge to preserving Islamic heritage. This study addresses this issue by examining the methods of Tahfiz learning as an extracurricular activity at MTsN 8 Padang Pariaman, aiming to identify effective strategies for enhancing students' memorization. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the school principal, Tahfiz teachers, and students. The findings reveal that a combination of traditional methods (e.g., Tahsin, Talqin) and modern techniques (e.g., Tasmi’, Talaqqi) effectively supports memorization. Students benefit from independent and peer-assisted learning, while structured schedules and motivational support from teachers and parents play a crucial role. However, challenges such as time constraints, lack of focus, and inconsistent routines hinder optimal outcomes. The study concludes that addressing these challenges through structured schedules, peer tutoring, and parental engagement can significantly improve memorization outcomes. Despite its contributions, this research is limited by its focus on a single institution, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Future studies should explore diverse educational contexts and incorporate longitudinal designs to assess the long-term impact of Tahfiz programs. This study underscores the importance of innovative and holistic approaches to Tahfiz education in addressing global challenges and preserving Quranic memorization traditions.

Abstract

The global challenge in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) lies in the persistent use of passive, lecture-based methods that fail to foster critical thinking or real-world application of Islamic values, particularly in addressing contemporary moral dilemmas like digital fitnah (temptation) (Halstead, 2004; Klein et al., 2023). This study aims to bridge this gap by evaluating the efficacy of a Flipped Classroom-based Problem-Based Learning (FC-PBL) model in enhancing cognitive and spiritual competencies in PAI. Using a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest controls, two groups of Grade X students at SMAN 1 Koto Baru were compared: the experimental group (FC-PBL, *n*=33) and the control group (traditional instruction, *n*=33). Data were analyzed via N-Gain scores, t-tests, and ANCOVA. Results revealed a 19% N-Gain disparity (74% experimental vs. 55% control), with the FC-PBL group showing superior posttest scores (Mean=13.03 vs. 11.12), higher engagement (96.67% high-category scores), and mastery of ethical concepts like zina prohibitions (*p*=0.000). The FC-PBL model’s synergy—combining self-paced pre-class learning (Flipped Classroom) and collaborative problem-solving (PBL)—validates its alignment with constructivist theory and cognitive load optimization. Limitations include the single-school sampling and short intervention duration, suggesting the need for longitudinal, multi-site replication. This study offers a transformative blueprint for modernizing Islamic education globally.

Abstract

The global educational landscape faces persistent challenges in effectively fostering moral character among students, particularly in religious education where traditional didactic methods often fail to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical ethical behavior. This issue is acute in Islamic education, where subjects like Akidah Akhlak struggle to translate doctrinal teachings into real-world virtues. Experiential learning, with its emphasis on active engagement and reflection, offers a promising solution. This study examines the implementation of experiential learning in Akidah Akhlak classes at MTs An-Nur Padang, Indonesia, aiming to assess its impact on character development and identify actionable strategies for Madrasah reform. Using a qualitative case study design, the research employed in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis to explore how experiential learning structured around Kolb’s cycle enhances moral reasoning and behavior. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis, triangulation, and content analysis to ensure rigor. Results demonstrated significant improvements: 70% of students exhibited heightened engagement through activities like Quranic verse analysis, prophetic storytelling discussions, and collaborative problem-solving. Assessments revealed progress across cognitive (understanding ethics), affective (empathy, discipline), and psychomotor domains. However, challenges included resource limitations, uneven teacher training, and passive participation among 20% of students. The study proposes a four-phase framework for integrating experiential learning in Madrasahs, emphasizing teacher workshops, low-cost media (e.g., digital storytelling), and policy reforms to align with Indonesia’s National Education Goals (UU No. 20/2003). This research contributes to global discourse on moral pedagogy by contextualizing experiential learning in Islamic education, affirming its alignment with Prophetic teaching traditions (tarbiyah nabawiyyah), while highlighting systemic barriers in under-resourced settings.

Abstract

Abstract

Globally, educational institutions face the challenge of transitioning from administrative Human Resource Management (HRM) to Strategic HRM (SHRM) to enhance quality and competitiveness. This challenge is acute for value-based institutions like Islamic schools, which must align HR practices with both academic goals and religious mission. This study aims to analyze the implementation and strategic alignment of HRM in Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools in Padang City, Indonesia. Employing a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, data were collected through surveys of teachers and staff, followed by interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis with principals and officials. The findings reveal significant strategic misalignment. HR planning is reactive, recruitment lacks a value-based competency framework, training overlooks pedagogical methods for integrating Islamic values, performance appraisal is overly administrative, and compensation fails to leverage non-financial religious motivators. This results in a dual misalignment: a vertical disconnect from the school's Islamic mission and a horizontal incoherence among HR functions themselves. The study concludes that a transformative shift towards a comprehensive, value-based SHRM model is essential for these schools to effectively produce graduates who are both intellectually competent and spiritually grounded.

Abstract

The global challenge of moral decline among youth, exacerbated by rapid technological advancements and shifting societal values, underscores the urgent need for effective moral education. This issue is particularly critical in Islamic education, where instilling religious values and character (akhlak) is essential for nurturing ethical individuals. This study addresses this global problem by examining the implementation of akhlak education at SD Negeri 04 Talaok, a rural elementary school in Indonesia, aiming to understand its role in building religious values and character among sixth-grade students. The research employs a qualitative case study design, utilizing interviews, observations, and document analysis to explore how akhlak material is integrated into the curriculum and its impact on students' moral and spiritual development. Findings reveal that structured religious activities, curriculum integration, and parental involvement significantly enhance students' discipline, ethical behavior, and spiritual awareness. However, challenges such as behavioral issues, external influences, and limited resources hinder optimal outcomes. The study concludes that akhlak education, when effectively implemented, fosters holistic development, aligning students' academic and moral growth. Despite its contributions, the research is limited by its focus on a single school, suggesting the need for broader studies across diverse contexts. This study highlights the transformative potential of moral education in addressing global moral challenges, offering actionable insights for educators and policymakers in Islamic education.
