Abstract

Teachers are faced with numerous difficulties during the COVID-19 Pandemic, particularly in ensuring that the learning process continues to run smoothly in the face of uncertainty. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between learning agility and commitment to change among preschool teachers. The sample in this study were 118 preschool teachers in Buleleng District. The results indicated that there is a significantly positive relationship between learning agility and commitment to change, r (118) = 0.234, p < 0.01. Further results showed that learning agility is also correlated with two dimensions of commitment to change, namely affective commitment to change r (118) = 0.438, p < 0.01 and normative commitment to change r (118) = 0.181, p < 0.05. The results contribute to theoretical advances in understanding learning agility and commitment to change as well as promoting the success of change in early childhood educational institution.

Abstract

Multimodal literacy is seen as an integral part of 21st century learning since children are growing withvarious modes of communication in their daily life. Despite its significance emphasized in the nationalcurriculum, the study about multimodal literacy in English classrooms in Indonesia is still limited. Thisstudy aimed to expose the incorporation of multimodal literacy into English classrooms from the perspectiveof elementary and middle schools’ English teachers across Indonesia. This research was conducted throughan online questionnaire distributed through WhatsApp. There were sixty-one English teachers fromdifferent regions in Indonesia who volunteered to participate. A descriptive qualitative approach was usedto analyze the data to understand teachers’ perspectives and challenges of integrating multimodal literacy inEnglish classrooms. The study revealed that the majority of participants had the awareness of multimodalliteracy in the digital era. Moreover, they held positive attitudes towards the integration of multimodalliteracy in English classrooms even though there were limitations, such as the lack of school facilities, teachers’ understanding in effective strategies and teachers’ skills in using technologies. The teachersalso realized that multimodal literacy has been highlighted in the national curriculum, yet they havenot fully understood the concept of multimodal literacy. This study contributes to the understanding ofmultimodal literacy in English classrooms, that despite the positive attitudes and opportunities to integratemultimodal literacy in English classrooms, there is still a wide area for improvement. Thus, teachers’professional development should promote effective strategies to include multimodal literacy in Englishlanguage classrooms in response to the curriculum reform.

Abstract

The problem with this research is that many students still need help understanding citizenship education and Pancasila learning. Many students need to be more active and able to think critically so they are less involved in learning interactions. This research aims to increase students' interest in learning about citizenship and Pancasila through problem-based learning methods. This research is experimental, with 32 grade 5 elementary school students as research subjects. Data collection tools use questionnaires and student learning outcomes. Data analysis used the t-distribution test. The research results showed an average increase of 28.12 points after the intervention or post-test. The data testing results answer the previously proposed hypothesis using the t distribution test with the core t count > t table (13.528 > 2.040), meaning Ho is rejected. These findings indicate that using problem-based learning methods increases students' interest and active learning in citizenship and Pancasila education subjects. This research contributes to solving the interest in studying citizenship and Pancasila education in elementary school education units, which were previously considered boring. Future research can test this in secondary education units.

Abstract

Children’s numeracy skills significantly influence their readiness to enter primary school. However, teachingnumeracy to children in concrete periods is still a big challenge for teachers. Moreover, technologybasedlearning media must still be considered appropriate for early introduction. This research aims todevelop an interactive digital learning media to improve early childhood numeracy skills. This Researchand Development (RD) method used the 4-D model, which consists of Defining, Designing, Developing, and Disseminating. Expert validators who test the feasibility of the product consist of material, media, andlanguage experts. Respondents in this study were ten children aged 4-5 years at PAUD Nurul Aisyah, EastAceh. The results showed that this digital game is feasible as a learning media to improve early childhoodnumeracy skills. The average validator score for product feasibility is in the very good category, andchildren’s numeracy skills are in the good category. With this learning media, "Numb Game," childrenlearn the concepts of counting, grouping, and simple statistics. Through an interactive approach, thedevelopment of Numb Game media can stimulate children’s engagement in the numeracy learning processby utilizing visual elements, games, and interactions that stimulate curiosity and desire to understandmathematical concepts. Therefore, this interactive digital learning media presents an interesting, adaptive, and effective learning experience according to children’s needs in improving numeracy skills at an earlyage. Further research on the long-term effects of using digital learning media on the development of earlychildhood numeracy skills and the implications for their academic achievement is warranted.

Abstract

Today’s age, many children seem to be less interested in learning at school. This could be because they arespending more time playing with gadgets at home instead of studying. As a result, their creativity andcritical thinking skills are not being optimally developed. To address this issue, researchers have tried toimprove children’s creative thinking abilities by using nature-based loose part media. They conductedan action classroom research with 20 children to evaluate the impact of this approach on their creativethinking skills. The researchers observed indicators such as the children’s curiosity, imagination, ability toproduce forms, and sense of responsibility. The results showed that using nature-based loose part mediacan significantly enhance young children’s creative thinking abilities. In pre-cycle, 11 children showedhigh achievement in creative thinking abilities, but this number increased to 15 children in cycle I and 19children in cycle II. Therefore, it is crucial for educational institutions to use nature-based loose part mediaduring early childhood learning activities to promote children’s creativity and critical thinking skill

Abstract

This research aims to develop and evaluate the hybrid-based learning media "Rotemz" in elementaryschools, especially to foster students’ interest in learning. Currently, hybrid-based learning media is stillrarely available in elementary schools. The research method used is research and development. Thedevelopment of this teaching media was carried out based on an analysis of the needs of grade 4 studentsusing the 4D development model. The development procedure includes the Define, Design and Developstages. Media validation is carried out by involving media experts, natural science material experts, andpractitioners. The validation results are used as a basis for improving learning media. This teaching mediawas implemented at SDN Ketintang II Surabaya involving 30 grade 4 students. The effectiveness of themedia in fostering students’ interest in learning was evaluated using a questionnaire filled in by teachers andstudents after the learning process. The research results show that Rotemz teaching media obtained verygood validation results based on several important aspects such as media appearance, material durability, language, suitability to learning objectives, and concept correctness. Rotemz teaching media is very suitablefor use in learning in fourth grade elementary schools. The use of this media has succeeded in growingstudents’ interest in learning and helping overcome students’ learning concentration problems. This research uses an experimental approach. The model used was ten children, with boys and girls five to five. The data collection methods are observation, documentation, and test sheets. The research instrument applies three indicators, namely, children listen to every word they hear, children can express and express their thoughts, and children can communicate orally. Through the observations made, researchers witnessed language development that was still not optimal in some children, researchers saw that language abilities in some children were still not optimal. Based on what is happening in the field, researchers are interested in using the traditional game Tapo’ Pipit to improve the language skills of children aged five to six years in class B1 at Primanda Untan Kindergarten. Based on the results obtained from this research, it indicate that there were differences before being given the traditional tapo’ pipit game and after being given the tapo’ pipit game. Where the average posttest result is higher than the average pretest result, namely the posttest is 47.8 and the pretest is 38.5. So it can be concluded that the Tapo’ Pipit game can stimulate the language development of children aged five to six years in class B1 Primanda Kindergarten Untan.
