Abstract

The low level of students’ digital literacy in Social Studies education has become a significant challenge in meeting the demands of 21st-century competencies. In addition, learning management practices that effectively integrate technology, creativity, and problem-solving skills into the learning process remain insufficiently implemented. This study aims to examine the effect of a STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning management model on students’ digital literacy skills in Social Studies. The novelty of this study lies in the development of a STEAM-based learning management framework specifically designed for Social Studies education to enhance students’ digital literacy as a key 21st-century competency, whereas previous studies have primarily focused on learning outcomes or critical thinking skills within science-related disciplines. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 60 students, including 30 students in the experimental group and 30 students in the control group. Data were collected through tests and questionnaires that had met validity and reliability requirements. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain analysis, and the Independent Samples t-Test. The findings revealed that the experimental group achieved an average N-Gain score of 0.76 (high category) with an effectiveness level of 76.14%, while the control group obtained an average N-Gain score of 0.25 (low category) with an effectiveness level of 25.44%. The Independent Samples t-Test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a t-value of 36.127, indicating a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups. These results demonstrate that the STEAM-based learning management model is effective in improving students’ digital literacy skills in Social Studies. Furthermore, the study indicates that learning management integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics creates a more contextual, interactive, collaborative, and problem-solving-oriented learning environment. The model also contributes to the development of students’ critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. Therefore, the STEAM-based learning management model can serve as an innovative strategy for strengthening digital literacy and enhancing the quality of Social Studies education to support the development of 21st-century competencies in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

Academic quality assurance has become a strategic necessity amid global competition, digital transformation, and the Sustainable Development Goals, yet universities affiliated with Nahdlatul Ulama (PTNU) face the added challenge of reconciling national academic standards with the preservation of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah institutional identity. This study analyzes and develops an academic quality assurance model for strengthening the competitive advantage of PTNU institutions. Employing a qualitative multisite case study at Universitas Islam Malang and Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis with university leaders, quality assurance units, lecturers, and institutional stakeholders, and analyzed using interactive data condensation, display, and cross-site comparison. Both institutions implement quality assurance through integrated policies, continuous evaluation, digital governance, and the internalization of Aswaja An-Nahdliyah values into academic culture. Unlike conventional Total Quality Management models that treat institutional culture as peripheral context, this study’s central novelty is demonstrating that Islamic ideological identity functions as an active, difficult-to-replicate governance resource that directly shapes policy formulation and translates into measurable institutional gains, including superior accreditation, stronger stakeholder trust, and international recognition. The study contributes a contextual, value-based academic quality assurance model for Islamic higher education and offers strategic guidance for university leaders and policymakers seeking to align academic governance with institutional identity in faith-based universities.

Abstract

This important study aims to explore in greater depth the system recovery strategy implemented by UNP Kediri to restore the institution’s health following the crisis it experienced in 2015—namely, the suspension of campus operations—and how UNP Kediri has since been able to rebound, grow, and become competitive, ultimately regaining the trust of its stakeholders through a strategic recovery plan for the university. The recovery strategy was implemented comprehensively by examining the university’s challenges, which highlighted the need for a simple strategic revitalization model. This study employed a qualitative research method using a case study approach. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observation. To ensure data validity, the researcher assessed credibility, dependability, and confirmability. Data analysis was conducted through data condensation by filtering information from raw data, presenting the data through the integration of information, and drawing conclusions a process that also included data verification. The research results indicate that: Strategies for the recovery of the higher education system must be tailored to the specific challenges faced. The findings identify three types of strategic recovery challenges, consistent with Suwarsono’s theory on corporate recovery. The issues addressed in this study include: student enrollment capacity, manipulation of academic data, and the implementation of academic process standards, which were resolved by UNP Kediri through three actions, namely: 1.) Recovery by forming a crisis management team, carried out by: building good relationships with journalists and forming an internal campus recovery team; 2.) Recovery through the replacement of top leadership, resulting in: commitment to work among organizational stakeholders, an effective communication system, and an improvement in organizational culture toward a more positive direction; 3.) Recovery through a shift in the organization’s strategic orientation, carried out using SWOT analysis, with follow-up actions including: improvements to the LPMPSDM, which encompassed enhancements to service systems and various policies aimed at quality and institutional reform.

Abstract

This study examines the uneven development of innovative behavior among public elementary school teachers in responding to changing learning demands. It aims to analyze the direct effects of transformational leadership, learning organization, motivation, and self-efficacy on teachers’ innovative behavior and to test the mediating role of self-efficacy. A quantitative explanatory design was employed. Data were collected through a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 374 public elementary school teachers in Serang Regency, selected through proportional stratified sampling from a population of 5,645 teachers. Hypotheses were tested using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares. The findings show that transformational leadership, learning organization, motivation, and self-efficacy positively affect teachers’ innovative behavior. The three exogenous variables also positively influence self-efficacy. Self-efficacy emerged as the strongest predictor and partially mediated all indirect relationships. These results contribute to educational management by emphasizing the importance of strengthening teachers’ professional confidence in developing school innovation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Human Resource Management (HRM) in improving the productivity of Arabic language teachers at Pesantren. The study employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation and were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The findings reveal that HRM is implemented through several functions, namely recruitment and selection, placement, training and development, performance appraisal, reward systems, and career development. The implementation of these functions contributes to improving the productivity of Arabic language teachers, as reflected in the enhancement of instructional quality, the use of more innovative teaching methods, the development of teaching materials, increased work discipline, and greater participation in academic and language development programs. The findings confirm that effective and sustainable HRM practices play a strategic role in enhancing teacher productivity and supporting the achievement of educational goals within the pesantren environment.
