Abstract

Besides the benefits of breastfeeding, the number of children exclusively breastfed was still low. The mother's breastfeeding decision might be influenced by breastfeeding support and preparation. The decision also might influence the mother's satisfaction and the child's well-being. Thus, to minimize the adverse effect of the decision, it is essential to identify the factors associated with mother satisfaction on their breastfeeding status. This study aimed to understand the correlation between breastfeeding support and preparation on mother's satisfaction with the infant's breastfeeding status. This study was a cross-sectional, observational study held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The inclusion criteria were the mother of a baby aged 6 to 24 months who lived in Yogyakarta City and was willing to join the research. A total of 150 respondents, mostly aged 19-40 years, joined the study. Spouse support is most influential on breastfeeding (BF) status. Mother's satisfaction with infant feeding choices was influenced by BF status, husband's support, and healthcare support. Husband support is essential for the mother to achieve exclusive breastfeeding and meet maternal satisfaction. Appropriate healthcare personnel support positively impacts maternal satisfaction by providing information and encouraging mothers to make informed infant feeding decision-making.

Abstract

Parental involvement plays a pivotal role in fostering early literacy skills. Understanding the factors influencing parental involvement is essential for promoting effective intervention in childhood. This study aims to identify and explore the determinants of parental involvement in early literacy development. The scoping review adheres to PRISMA guidelines from eight electronic databases: SAGE, Research Gate, Semantic Scholar, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Taylor and Francis, Scopus, and Springer. The criteria include research on parental involvement and early literacy, handling children aged 0-6 years and parents, and publishing original research articles and literature reviews. The search yielded 13 relevant studies. The analysis results show the following determinants of parental involvement in early literacy development: internal factors (i.e., parent depression, parent fidelity, parental genetics, parent's perspective, parent's support, parental positive motivation and belief, parental estimation, and parent expectation) and external factors (i.e., socioeconomic status, parents' education, parental literacy experience, family risk home literacy environment, and emergent literacy skills). The study results aim to inform targeted interventions to enhance parental involvement in early literacy across diverse contexts.

Abstract

Many studies have shown that healthcare workers are exposed to higher levels of stress than other occupations. However, little research has been conducted on the use of biomarker tools to assess chronic stress and assess the effectiveness of stress management programs for healthcare workers. The aim of this study was to measure the effectiveness of a Stress Management Program by measuring Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) scores and hair cortisol concentration (HCC) levels of healthcare workers in public healthcare facilities. This study was a three-group, quasi-experiment study with pre- and post-study assessment sessions. A total of 119 healthcare workers (28 from Group A, 21 from Group B, and 70 from Group C) were followed for 6 months. Significant favorable intervention effects on DASS-21 scores were found in Group A (Effect size =0.6) as compared to Group B (Effect size=0.2) and Group C (Effect size =02) at the end of the program. Time and group interaction effects were examined using the repeated measure ANOVA test in which there was a significant group *time interaction and effect size of 0.2 (p-value <0.01) across all the groups with a reduction in hair cortisol concentrations following the program. The study showed that stress management under healthy communities, building the nation (KOSPEN PLUS) program was successful in reducing stress levels, as seen through a decrease in both stress scores and hair cortisol levels. This is the first study in Malaysia to use hair cortisol as a biomarker for stress management, suggesting its reliability.

Abstract

Telemedicine has become indispensable in contemporary healthcare, reshaping patient care worldwide. The utilization of it has significantly risen in the Philippines, particularly during the pandemic, mirroring a global trend. Nevertheless, there is a dearth of studies regarding its pragmatic implementation among Filipino physicians, a crucial aspect for enhancing healthcare delivery. A qualitative analysis utilized in-depth interviews with experienced physicians in the Philippines. The researchers employed an inductive methodology to investigate how 13 physicians integrate telemedicine into their private medical practices. The selection of participants was purposeful, specifically targeting physicians with more than two years of experience in telemedicine. The qualitative data collected was subjected to a rigorous thematic analysis, comprehensively examining the current telemedicine integration situations. The examination of the data indicated a central theme: ‘Transcending Telemedicine’, emphasizing its influence that goes beyond being a mere technological tool. It overcomes time, space, and geography constraints, enhancing physicians’ ability to serve patients. There are four subcategories connected that contribute to or hinder the achievement of this goal: factors influencing adoption and factors influencing implementation and responses and reactions to telemedicine adoption. This paper contributes to the general understanding of telemedicine’s function in healthcare, specifically in the setting of a developing country. It emphasizes the necessity for continuous support and adjustment to maximize its benefits.

Abstract

Malaria is a national and global problem that really needs attention and Indonesia is the second highest country with the highest number of cases 304,607 in 2021. The use of insecticides at inappropriate doses causes resistance to targets. The aim of this study was to analyze the toxicity of silver nanoparticles to adult Anopheles mosquitoes in malaria endemic areas as well as to determine the lethal concentration (LC50) and to project effectiveness in the lifetime. This research is experimental and uses a post-treatment with control design which was carried out in 4 stages from 2019-2022, which includes laboratory scale tests (2019), field laboratory scale tests (2020), ecological endemic area scale tests (2021), and lifetime tests (2022). Calculation of LC50 in nanosilver toxicity 5965 mg/l and Calculation of life time projections produces the formula Y=(-) 0.012Ln(X)+0.6933. Absorption of silver nanoparticles into the bodies of Anopheles sp. occurs through the spiracles and attacks the Ache enzyme in the central nervous system thereby stopping the working system of the mosquito which will then die. Nanosilver is a very effective herbal insecticide used as an effort to control malaria cases in endemic areas with the right dose and method. For life time, a dose of 1500 mg/l nanosilver effectively kills 74% of adult Anopheles sp mosquitoes on day 32 and it is projected that on 1 year the efficacy of nanomaterials still has an efficacy of 62%).
