Abstract

The Toddopuli show in Negeri Siam tells the story of the struggle of the Makassarese tribe, who were forced to leave their home country for a new country. This show shows the dominant culture and identity of Makassar. This performance shows culture and identity through dialogue accompanied by aesthetic movements, the lyrics sung by the players, and the movements and songs of the players' behavior. It was later identified as a dance drama. This research is classified as qualitative research conducted in depth using descriptive analysis. To explain the representation of Makassar culture and identity, this is analyzed using John Fiske's semiotic surgical tools. As a result, the representation of Makassar culture and identity in this performance is implemented through dialogue, events, actions, poetry, and props. This theatrical performance reveals that Makassar's culture and identity place dialogue that has the character of struggle, and the values of struggle are discussed in the performance text. Daeng Mangalle and the Makassar warriors, who apply cultural characterization and ethnic identity to the Makassarese, characterize the language of performance texts, which are effective in constructing the culture and identity of the Makassar people.Keywords: Theater, Representation, Culture, Identity, Makassar

Abstract

Film posters are important aspects of visual communication since they serve not only as a commercial tool but also as a medium full of significance, particularly in the film "Bumi Manusia" by Falcon Pictures, which accurately depicts the Dutch colonial era through rigorous study. This study uses a qualitative technique to evaluate the poster for the film "Bumi Manusia." The data collection method employs two basic sources: primary data and secondary data. Primary data is gathered through direct observation of the poster, allowing researchers to examine visual components such as color, imagery, and text. Meanwhile, secondary information is derived from external sources such as journals, papers, and books, and it serves to supplement or reinforce the conclusions of direct observations. The research technique consists of four steps of design review: work description, formal analysis, interpretation, and evaluation. Thus, the film poster "Bumi Manusia" captures the film's story and atmosphere in detail using visual art. This poster illustrates the cultural and political clash at the center of the story using detailed images of the main protagonists. Color, font, photography, and good composition are used in these posters to strengthen the formal narrative. The poster's interpretations underlined the complexities of cultural and political struggle, while the study determined that the poster accurately reflected the delicate relationship between Dutch indigenous and colonial peoples. This poster highlights the complexities of the cultural and social life of the time, which is relevant to the film's theme.

Abstract

Tari Ranup Lampuan merupakan tari penyambutan tamu pada masyarakat Aceh dengan menyuguhkan sirih sebagai tanda kehormatan. Tari Ranup Lampuan visualisasi dari filosofi kehidupan masyarakat Aceh, yaitu menjunjung tinggi keramah-tamahan dalam menyambut tamu yang datang, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis bentuk tari Ranub Lampuan di Sanggar Cut Nyak Dhien kota Banda Aceh. Metode penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah sumber kualitatif terdiri atas sumber primer dan sekunder dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber, sedangkan teknik analisis tari dilakukan dengan cara mendeskripsikan tarian, melakukan interpretasi dan evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkkan bahwa bentuk tari Ranub Lampuan di Sanggar Cut Nyak Dhien kota Banda Aceh meliputi gerak, iringan, busana, properti, tata rias dan pola lantai. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi masyarakat untuk dijadikan bahan pembelajaran sehingga masyarakat dapat mempertahankan kesenian Aceh dan nilai-nilai budaya yang ada di dalamnya.

Abstract

Socio-cultural changes in Indonesian society in the modern era face various complex and dynamic challenges. Globalization, information technology, and higher mobility have profoundly changed the socio-cultural landscape. The purpose of this research is to highlight the complexity of challenges and transformations in revealing the dynamics of socio-cultural changes in Indonesian society in the modern era. The research method used is a literature study, namely by solving problems by tracing the sources of writings that have been made before. The results show that one of the main challenges is preserving traditional values and local culture amid the influence of globalization. The urge to adopt lifestyles, values, and norms from foreign cultures often conflicts with local values. In addition, rapidly developing information technology also brings new challenges in the form of changing patterns of communication, social interaction, and cultural identity. However, Indonesian society is also undergoing a significant transformation in the face of these challenges. Increasingly accessible education allows for increased awareness and understanding of local cultural values. Technological innovations are also used to preserve cultural heritage through various media. In addition, the spirit of gotong royong and togetherness that characterizes Indonesian society remains strong, despite the pressures of socio-cultural change. Communities are adapting to new ways of maintaining traditional values while embracing the positive aspects of globalization.

Abstract

Seni tari memiliki potensi untuk memberikan pengalaman kreatif kepada anak-anak dan seharusnya diajarkan sebagai metode untuk menggambarkan kembali nilai estetik yang mereka alami dalam kehidupan. Faktanya, dalam konteks pendidikan seni tari dan kreativitas siswa, permasalahan rendahnya pengembangan kreativitas anak didik secara empiris lebih banyak disebabkan oleh kurangnya kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran seni tari untuk merangsang kreativitas siswa. Model UNIE-C, sebagai pendekatan pembelajaran seni tari, mencakup empat aspek: pemahaman, kebutuhan, interaksi, dan ekspresi, yang kemudian diintegrasikan sebagai bentuk kreativitas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi penerapan Model UNIE-C dalam pembelajaran tari di SMA Negeri 2 Majene. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 2 Majene. Subjek penelitian melibatkan guru dan siswa pada mata pelajaran seni budaya sebagai informan utama. Teknik pengumpulan data mencakup observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Validitas data dievaluasi berdasarkan kriteria tertentu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gerak tari yang dikembangkan dalam Model UNIE-C dibentuk oleh pengalaman peserta didik, tanpa perlu meniru gerakan tari sebagai suatu penampilan lengkap, dan gerakan tari ini dipengaruhi oleh apa yang dilihat dan dirasakan oleh peserta didik.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKecemasan performa musik (MPA) berdampak negatif bagi performa musisi dalam jangka pendek hingga panjang.  Penelitian ini mengukur MPA mahasiswa Jurusan Musik Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta. MPA ditinjau dari pilihan mayor instrumen, jenis kelamin, lama pengalaman musik, dan asal sekolah (SMK Musik dan SMU). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan subjek mahasiswa aktif Jurusan Musik ISI Yogyakarta (N = 133). Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswi (perempuan) menunjukkan MPA yang lebih tinggi dibanding mahasiswa (laki-laki) (p = 0.03); tidak terdapat perbedaan kecemasan performa musik berdasarkan instrumen musik mayor, lama pengalaman bermusik, maupun asal sekolah (p > 0.05); terdapat 68% mahasiswa musik yang mengalami MPA pada tingkat medium hingga kecemasan sangat tinggi. Mahasiswa musik memiliki beberapa strategi coping untuk menghadapi MPA, namun masih terdapat beberapa mahasiswa yang masih bingung dan tidak memiliki cara untuk mengatasi MPA. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi suatu evaluasi pada pengembangan metode belajar musik yang memperhatikan kesiapan psikologis mahasiswa musik. ABSTRACTMusic performance anxiety (MPA) harms musicians' performance in the short to long term. This research measures the MPA of music students at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta. MPA was assessed based on the choice of the musical instrument, gender, length of experience, and high-school origins (SMM and SMU). This research utilizes quantitative methods with the subjects of active students of the Music Department of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta (N = 133). This research concluded that female students exhibit higher anxiety levels than males (p = 0.03); there was no significant difference in music performance anxiety based on instrument major, length of musical experience, or school origin (p > 0.05). It was found that 68% of music students at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta experience medium to very high levels of music performance anxiety. Music students have reported their coping strategies to deal with music performance anxiety. However, some students reported that they have no coping strategy for their anxiety. It suggests the need to consider the psychological readiness of music students when developing music learning methods.

Abstract

Keunikan budaya Sulawesi Selatan tercermin pada beberapa suku atau etnis yang ada di dalam masyarakat seperti suku Bugis, Makassar, Mandar dan Toraja, yang sebagian besar melibatkan seni pertunjukan dalam setiap kegiatan. Di era tahun 80 an untuk pertama kalinya ada karya tari yang memakai penari putra dan putri secara bersamaan di dalamnya. Tari Tomepare menjadi dasar gerak tari putra sehingga generasi muda penerus atau penari putra menjadi lebih percaya diri di dalam berkarya atau menjadi seorang penari. Fakta yang ada di dalam masyarakat selama ini bahwa penari putra merasa tidak percaya diri di dalam menari dikarenakan gerak-gerak putra sebagian besar mengikuti gerak putri. Perubahan dilakukan untuk memberikan ruang gerak khususnya untuk penari putra. Jenis pendekatan penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif dengan teknik analisis koreografi berdasarkan Elizabeth R. Hayes tentang prinsip kebentukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prinsip-prinsip kebentukan yang meliputi keutuhan, variasi, repetisi, transisi, rangkaian dan klimaks yang ada di dalam tari Tomepare merupakan Representasi Nyoli pada masyarakat Toraja.

Abstract

The relationship between theater and everyday life seems distant, barren, and isolated as a science. But as a performance, apart from being a creative medium that can channel artistic communication, it must also be close to the community. This mission was hinted at in Tania Andi's performance which initiated Brecht's concept of alienation. This research focuses on Tania Andi's performance which was staged at the Societet de Harmoni Arts Building in Makassar City at the South Sulawesi Student Theater Festival. The phenomenon of artistic communication is studied in this research using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. This research aims to describe the semiotic meaning related to artistic communication which implies the meaning of bullying. The research method uses a qualitative approach with the research object being the Tania Andi Karya Prusdianto performance produced by the FBS UNM Literature Workshop. Interviews with actors and directors are primary data sources, while secondary data sources are literature studies and searches of several articles on the internet that are related to the research object. As a result, these attitudes and traits are certainly the result of responding negatively to our failure to deal with events and this becomes a symptom of bullying that appears verbally, physically and psychologically. These three forms of bullying emerged in the phenomenon of Tania Andi's performance with a performance that was conceptualized as alienation.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini merujuk pada buku “marbel fun activity: coloring & learning english” (Sumber: dokumen pribadi) yang diterbitkan oleh PT Grasindo, anggota Ikapi pada tahun 2023 yang berlokasi di Jakarta sebagai objek kajian penelitian. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode analisis yang mengacu pada instrumen penilaian buku dari Badan Standar Nasional pendidikan, yaitu analisis; a) Kelayakan Isi; b) Kelayakan Kebahasaan; c) Kelayakan Penyajian; serta d) Kelayakan Kegrafikan. Hasil pada penelitian ini adalah didalam buku “marbel fun activity: coloring & learning english” terdapat 26 lembar bagian yang terdiri dari 49 halaman yang sudah termasuk dengan halaman I dan II (romawi) serta lembar sampul depan dan sampul belakang. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan pada buku “marbel fun activity: coloring & learning english” mengenai analisis kelayakan isi, analisis kebahasaan, analisis penyaji dan analisis kegrafikan, menyatakan bahwa secara keseluruhan telah layak untuk dapat digunakan sebagai bahan referensi dalam pembelajaran pada anak usia dini.

Abstract

Anak Garuda is a fictional movie that contains many moral values. The purpose of this research is to describe the representation of moral messages in Anak Garuda by using John Fiske's Semiotic analysis through three levels of approach, namely reality, representation, and ideology. The analysis method used is qualitative research based on the stages of Jane Stokes' Semiotic analysis. The results of this study are moral values towards God Almighty, moral values towards oneself, and moral values towards relationships with others.
