Abstract

This research aims to provide information related to global research trends on mathematical communication. A bibliometric study was used to see the development of international articles on mathematical communication from 1995 to 2023 through the Dimensions database. This research uses a bibliometric analysis method through the flow diagram stages of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. The results of this research show that mathematical communication is still a topic of interest for research, with the article entitled “There is more to discourse than meets the ears: Looking at thinking as communicating to learn more about mathematical learning” by Anna Sfard being the article with the most citations. The most articles in the SDGs are in the field of quality education, while the AIP Conference Proceedings is the publication that contains the most mathematical communication topics. Apart from that, it is also known that Yus Mochamad Cholily is the writer with the highest productivity on the topic of mathematical communication. The terms related to mathematical communication that are most popular in research are: cognitive style, PJBL, linear equations and mathematical expression. As for future research, it is hoped that there will be a link between mathematical communication with: emotional intelligence, PjBL and initial ability. The results of the co-authorship analysis show that there is one largest cluster containing eight authors. These results can be the basis for developing further research related to mathematical communication.

Abstract

The challenges of the 21st century require learners to have abilities, one of which is numeracy literacy. However, the facts show that students' numeracy literacy is still low. So, learning innovations are needed that support the development of numeracy literacy. The CBL-STEM Context model integrated with Wordwall and interactive videos can be an alternative in increasing students' numeracy literacy. The purpose of this study is to describe efforts to increase numeracy literacy through the application of Challenge Based Learning (CBL) with STEM Context integrated with Wordwall and interactive videos. The research method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with an analysis technique consisting of three steps, namely: (1) organization, (2) synthesis, and (3) identification. The results showed that CBL model supports meaningful learning process related to STEM Context in daily life. STEM Context, which is a combination of STEM Education and STEM Word integrated into CBL, can train learners to solve contextual problems. Wordwall integration also provides an interactive practice platform to deepen understanding of the material. A part from that, interactive videos are a medium that can visualize big ideas so that learners can more easily analyze, determine strategies and solve problems. The application of this innovation can increase learners' numeracy literacy. Therefore, the implementation of Challenge Based on STEM Context integrated Wordwall and interactive videos can be developed for various concepts in mathematics.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the understanding of mathematical concepts of class VIII students at SMP 10 November Jakarta in the material Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV). This research is a mix-method type or combined research (quantitative-qualitative). The respondents were 28 students in class VIII-B, and 1 mathematics teacher as informant. Data collection was carried out using test and interview techniques. The results show that class VIII-B students’ understanding of the SPLDV concept is still relatively low. Indicators of concept understanding that has not been achieved optimally are: classifying objects according to certain properties in accordance with concept, presenting concepts in various forms of mathematical representation, and developing necessary and sufficient conditions for a concept. The failure to understand this concept is due to students’ lack of focus in the learning process and efforts can be made to improve this by asking students to repeat learning at home.
