Abstract

Introduction: Pulmonary tuberculosis remains a major global health problem, especially in developing countries. Indonesia ranks second worldwide in TB incidence and, together with India, the Philippines, and South Africa, accounts for 44% of global cases. Rising case numbers are partly due to underreporting or undiagnosed patients, creating barriers to accurately determining TB incidence in Indonesia. Methods: This analytical observational study used a cross-sectional design at two community health centers (Puskesmas) in Karawang Regency, selected through random sampling: Cibuaya and Karawang Kulon. Data were obtained using a structured questionnaire and analyzed with chi-square and multiple logistic regression. Results: Logistic regression showed significant associations between gender (p < 0.001), ventilation (p < 0.001), and body mass index (BMI) (p < 0.001) with TB incidence in Karawang. BMI was the most dominant factor. Conclusion: Three variables were significantly associated with TB incidence: gender, ventilation, and BMI. Five others were not significant: age, income, family size, house size, and education. Nutrition education, supplementation programs, and access to nutritious food should be integrated into TB control efforts, along with improvements to housing conditions, particularly ventilation and size.

Abstract

Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea is problem in adolescent girls. Menstrual pain also be a reason for the decreased activity of women during menstruation, including female students at the Pesantren Yatim Cahaya Madinah, South Tangerang, Banten. The objective of this community service is to address menstrual pain in adolescents through several methods including: 1) providing education on nonpharmacological therapy to reduce menstrual pain, addressing the lack of information, knowledge, and understanding related to menstruation; 2) implementing Cat Strecth Exercise dan Counter Pressure for menstrual pain in adolescent girls; 3) adopting positive lifestyle changes to decrease menstrual pain, supervising, and reevaluating programs. Adolescents are able to remain productive during menstruation, implement Cat Strecth Exercise dan Counter Pressure, and stay healthier and more productive even while menstruating. The results of this intervention have proven effective in reducing menstrual pain through non-pharmacological therapy, leading to healthier and more sustainable productivity for adolescent girls. Those who initially experienced severe pain (scale 6), causing distress and lower abdominal cramps during menstruation that often reduced their quality of life—along with discomfort affecting their physical and mental well-being, often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, breast pain, rectal swelling, and diarrhea—reported a reduction in menstrual pain to a scale of 3 after this intervention.

Abstract

This community engagement initiative addresses the need for curriculum enhancement in the Hospitality Department of SMK Negeri 3, a vocational school focused on producing industry- ready graduates. The initiative was conducted through a structured collaboration involving the review and revision of hospitality-related subjects to align with the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (Standar Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia/SKKNI) for Hotel Services. The SKKNI outlines key units of competency required in the hospitality sector, including handling guest check-in and check-out procedures, managing reservations, maintaining cleanliness and order in housekeeping, and delivering food and beverage services. The methodology included curriculum gap analysis, document review, focused group discussions with vocational teachers, and systematic curriculum redesign. Key revisions introduced industry-based learning outcomes, performance-based assessments, contextual case studies, and integrated soft skills development. The engagement not only improved curriculum alignment with national standards but also enhanced teacher capacity and student readiness for the labor market. Feedback from stakeholders indicated a strong potential for implementation and scalability across other vocational institutions. This activity exemplifies the value of academic involvement in vocational education reform and highlights the importance of continuous curriculum adaptation to industry trends. The paper presents the process, outcomes, and strategic value of such initiatives in strengthening vocational education, in line with national human resource development priorities.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of perceived playfulness, perceived usefulness, and personalized product recommendations on purchase intention in TikTok Shop among university students. The study involved 217 respondents who completed questionnaires related to demographic characteristics, frequency of TikTok usage, and their purchasing behavior. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess the relationships between the variables. The findings indicate that all proposed hypotheses were supported. Perceived playfulness and perceived usefulness significantly influence purchase intention, with personalized product recommendations affecting both perceived playfulness and perceived usefulness. The model also demonstrated that personalized recommendations directly influence purchase intention. These results suggest that TikTok Shop's effectiveness in enhancing user experience and increasing purchase intention is significantly driven by the perceived enjoyment and usefulness of the platform, as well as the role of personalized product recommendations. The study contributes to understanding the factors that drive purchase intention in the context of social media-based e-commerce.

Abstract

Food security is a major challenge for Indonesia, particularly due to its heavy reliance on imported food commodities. In this context, community groups such as the Women Farmers Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) play an essential role in supporting local food self-sufficiency. This Community Service Program (PKM) under the Community Partnership Empowerment scheme was implemented with KWT Gemilang II in Palembang to improve the added value and competitiveness of mocaf flour as a local substitute for wheat. The program emphasized three aspects: enhancing production capacity, strengthening business management, and optimizing branding and digital marketing. Activities included training on digital business adoption, promotional content creation, and educational content marketing to raise consumer awareness of healthy local food. Smart production practices were introduced to increase efficiency and hygiene through the use of modern equipment such as sealers, ovens, mixers, and blenders. Branding and packaging improvements were also carried out, including logo, label, and design development aligned with the values of local food innovation. The results show improved knowledge of efficient and hygienic production, stronger brand identity, better digital marketing skills, and more professional packaging. Digital outreach has expanded through Instagram, WhatsApp Business, and Shopee. These achievements are expected to enhance competitiveness, strengthen local economic independence, and contribute to food security in South Sumatra.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah 9 Elementary School, Surabaya, is geographically located on the coast, so it is often referred to as Bahari Muhammadiyah 9 Elementary School. Based on preliminary survey results, Muhammadiyah 9 Elementary School students frequently consume cariogenic foods, resulting in a high caries index of 4.6. From an educational perspective, the learning method is still relatively conventional and does not align with the "Merdeka Belajar" curriculum, resulting in hampered learning and a lack of student knowledge about maintaining health, especially dental and oral health. Furthermore, the implementation of school dental health activities has not been optimal. Community service methods are carried out through several stages: outreach, training, mentoring and evaluation, and a desire program. The participation of the university community in helping solve the problems facing the community in such environments is essential by providing education and regular dental and oral health checks to reduce the caries index, as well as providing snacks such as sea cucumber jelly candy and anchovy cookies made from seafood, which have anti-cariosis properties. The use of seafood as an alternative to prevent dental caries shows very promising potential. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Bima 2025: This program has succeeded in raising student awareness of the importance of maintaining dental hygiene and introducing innovative and natural ways to prevent caries.

Abstract

A community service initiative was undertaken at UD. Risky Barokah, an egg-laying poultry farm in Sumberingin Kidul, Ngunut District, Tulungagung Regency. Operating since 2010 on a 7,000 m² site with nearly 10,000 chickens, the farm has faced persistent challenges related to water contamination and high electricity costs. To mitigate these constraints, a solar-powered water filtration system and a 1.1 kWp photovoltaic installation were implemented. The intervention was directed toward improving poultry health and egg productivity through access to clean water, reducing dependence on the electrical grid, and strengthening staff capacity through technical training. Outcomes demonstrated estimated monthly electricity savings of Rp247,500–Rp330,000 and consistent water quality that enhanced flock health and output, while simultaneously lowering the farm's carbon footprint. The project highlights the applicability of renewable energy and appropriate technology in promoting sustainable and cost-effective poultry production.

Abstract

Financial literacy is an essential skill that should be introduced from an early age, particularly for children in migrant communities who often face limited access to structured financial education. This community service program offered a distinctive approach by integrating the introduction of the Indonesian Rupiah as a symbol of national identity with practical financial management training for children at the Indonesian Citizens Education Center (PPWNI) in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia. The program combined short lectures, educational games, buying–selling simulations, simple journal recording, and the innovative Dream Pocket activity. A total of 73 children aged 7–12 years participated. Results indicated substantial improvements in their ability to recognize Rupiah and Ringgit, differentiate needs and wants, record daily transactions, and plan savings. Pre- and post-test results showed an increase of 40% to 70% across key aspects. Uniquely, this program not only enhanced cognitive understanding but also reinforced cultural identity and promoted character values such as discipline, responsibility, and motivation to save. These findings highlight the novelty of embedding national identity into financial literacy education, offering a replicable model for migrant communities and early childhood education contexts.
