Abstract

The irrational use of antibiotics in dentistry, including self-medication, incomplete treatment, and inappropriate prescriptions, remains a major public health concern that contributes to antimicrobial resistance. At the same time, many communities lack sufficient access to accurate information on the proper use of antibiotics in dental care. Situation analysis at Puskesmas Pegirian highlighted that Kader Surabaya Hebat (KSH) play a central role in health promotion but require greater knowledge and confidence to educate the public on rational antibiotic practices. To address this gap, a Training of Trainers program was designed and implemented with KSH as participants. The training combined health counseling sessions, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations focused on the importance of rational antibiotic use in dentistry. To evaluate the effectiveness of the program, participants completed a pre-test before the training and a post-test after the sessions. The results showed a clear improvement in knowledge and awareness, with KSH reporting stronger confidence to deliver educational messages within their communities. This initiative demonstrates that targeted training supported by measurable evaluation can effectively strengthen the role of KSH. The conclusion emphasizes that investing in KSH capacity is a sustainable strategy to promote rational antibiotic use in dentistry at the community level.

Abstract

The epidemiological shift from communicable to non-communicable diseases poses a significant challenge in today’s health development efforts. Preventing chronic diseases has become a shared priority, one of which is through routine health screenings. The large number of adult and elderly members in the GBI Diaspora community highlights the need for health examinations as a concrete step in disease prevention. Psychological and financial barriers, along with often-overlooked documentation issues, can hinder individuals from undergoing health checks. A health record system was proposed as a solution through a mini project at GBI Diaspora Sejahtera Surabaya, delivered alongside health screening activities. The implementation involved collaboration and coordination in designing the “SEHATKU” pocketbook, which was distributed during the screenings. A total of 71 GBI Diaspora participants underwent health screenings and received the “SEHATKU” pocketbook as a tool for recording results and providing education. Post-activity questionnaires completed by 65 participants showed that more than 50% demonstrated increased knowledge and awareness of the importance of regular health check-ups. With the use of the “SEHATKU” pocketbook, proper documentation supports ongoing individual health monitoring within the community. Regular health screenings accompanied by the distribution of the “SEHATKU” pocketbook represent a promotive and preventive measure for non-communicable disease prevention at the primary care level.

Abstract

The growth of Indonesia’s creative economy offers significant opportunities for young generations to become entrepreneurs and contribute to the national economy. However, many students still lack the understanding and hands-on experience needed to transform creative ideas into real business opportunities. In response to this, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH FEB) initiated the Creativepreneur Workshop: Turning Creativity into Business Opportunities at Sekolah Dian Harapan (SDH) Makassar. This workshop is designed to introduce the fundamentals of creative entrepreneurship, foster innovative thinking, and provide practical experience through the creation of simple, marketable products. Additionally, it offers insights on leveraging digital technology and social media for marketing while connecting students with experienced creative business practitioners. The program aims to inspire and equip young people to develop a courageous, adaptive, and entrepreneurial mindset that is capable of creating business opportunities from an early stage.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has limited face-to-face health education, including for pregnant women who need information about breastfeeding preparation. One important aspect of successful breastfeeding is breast care during pregnancy. This community service activity aims to increase pregnant women's knowledge about breast care in preparation for breastfeeding through online counseling. The activity was carried out in Johar Baru Village, Central Jakarta, targeting 9 pregnant women. The activity methods included counseling through Zoom Cloud Meeting and mentoring through WhatsApp Group. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests to measure the increase in participants' knowledge. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the level of knowledge of pregnant women, with an average pre-test score of 61.1 and a post-test score of 87.8, representing an increase of 43.7%. Participants gained a better understanding of proper breast care techniques and their benefits in facilitating milk production and preventing lactation disorders. This online counseling activity proved to be effective in increasing the knowledge of pregnant women and became an alternative form of practical health education during the pandemic. It is hoped that similar activities can be carried out continuously to support the success of the exclusive breastfeeding program and improve the quality of health of mothers and babies in the community.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PkM) aims to preserve Sundanese dance culture through the development of a dance arts curriculum at LKP Bina Lestari Sumedang. The background of this activity is the declining interest of the younger generation in traditional dance due to the influence of popular culture and the lack of relevance of the existing curriculum. The methods used include needs analysis, the development of digital-based learning modules, intensive training for educators, cultural campaigns through social media, and strengthening learning infrastructure. The results of the activity show the achievement of the new vision and mission of LKP Bina Lestari, the preparation of a structured curriculum for three levels (beginner, proficient, expert), and the creation of innovative modules that integrate cultural values and digital technology. This program also expands social impact through collaboration with art communities, cultural figures, and the surrounding community. With a collaborative approach and the utilization of science and technology, this activity has succeeded in increasing the awareness, skills, and interest of the young generation in Sundanese dance, while also strengthening local cultural identity amidst the tide of globalization.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the capacity of the Singaparna Free-Range Chicken Farmers Association (APAKSI) in production, business management, and marketing. Partners' primary challenges include dependence on manufactured feed, inefficient financial records, and limited market access and brand legality. The implementation method involves five stages: outreach, training, technology implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. As of this progress report, five of the eight planned visits have been conducted. Results include improved understanding of KUB chicken farming, the ability to independently produce fermented bran-based feed, the implementation of simple financial records, and the development of a brand logo to support marketing. Initial impacts indicate increased production efficiency, business management awareness, and farmer motivation to expand markets through e-commerce. With three remaining mentoring visits, the program's final targets are brand legality through PDKI, streamlined financial reporting, and active digital marketing.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to provide training on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to improve TOEFL scores among twelfth-grade students at SMAN 19 Bandung. The method employed in this program involved training and mentoring, which consisted of two main stages: the implementation stage (preparation and training) and the evaluation stage. During the preparation stage, the team coordinated with the school, developed training materials, and set up AI-based learning tools. In the implementation stage, students were trained to use various AI applications and platforms, such as interactive chatbots, automated grammar correction tools, and AI-driven TOEFL simulations. Through intensive mentoring, participants were encouraged to practice their reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills with the assistance of AI technologies. The evaluation results indicated that students gained significant knowledge of TOEFL learning strategies as well as the ability to effectively utilize AI to enhance their English proficiency. Furthermore, the program fostered greater motivation and self-confidence among students in preparing for the actual TOEFL test. Therefore, this community service initiative is expected to make a meaningful contribution to improving the quality of English language education at the high school level.

Abstract

A healthy environment is a crucial factor in supporting optimal child growth and development. In various regions of Indonesia, there are still many issues related to low awareness of healthy lifestyles that have not been properly addressed. The strategic role of housewives is essential in maintaining environmental cleanliness, but limited access to information and skills means some mothers are unable to properly manage household waste. This community service activity aims to empower housewives through 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) training. This training is the first step in realizing environmentally friendly villages. The methods used include counseling, waste management practices, and mentoring in implementing the 3Rs in households. It is hoped that housewives participating in the training will develop skills in sorting and processing household waste, and that a collective commitment to maintaining environmental cleanliness with the community will be formed.

Abstract

As the demand for professional workers of productive age increases due to Japan’s declining population, the number of Indonesian workers sent there has also grown. This condition encourages many educational institutions to prepare their students to be ready to work in Japan after completing their studies. One effort is by providing Japanese language learning at the senior high school and vocational school levels. However, mastery of speaking, writing, listening, and reading alone is not sufficient to enter the Japanese workforce Cultural and work ethic differences remain a major challenge, particularly the understanding of the 5S and HoRenSo principles, which are work principles implemented across almost all companies and industries in Japan. Proper application of these principles plays an important role in ensuring smoother workflows and improving work outcomes. Unfortunately, most Indonesian workers are still unfamiliar with them, so when they begin working in Japan, they require an adaptation period that can reduce efficiency. To address this issue, a cluster of lecturers from the Japanese Language Study Program at Widyatama University collaborated with SMK Negeri 1 Buahdua Sumedang to introduce and train students in 5S and HoRenSo principles for the students there.

Abstract

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in urban villages face significant obstacles stemming from their entanglement in burdensome online usurious loans. These challenges are primarily caused by inadequate financial literacy, limited access to Sharia-compliant financing options, and poor business management practices. As a response, this service initiative has been carefully designed to provide holistic solutions through the provision of Sharia financial literacy education, facilitation of access to Islamic financing, and mentoring in sound business management practices. The main objective of this initiative is to enhance the financial literacy of micro, small, and medium enterprises, liberate them from dependency on interest-based financial products, and strengthen their business management to ensure better structure and sustainability. Furthermore, the program aspires to build connections between entrepreneurs, communities, and Islamic financial institutions, thereby fostering a financial literacy culture that adheres to halal principles and is consistent with Sharia regulations. The anticipated outcomes include improved Islamic financial literacy, the ability to access internal Sharia-compliant financing, the formation of a Sharia-compliant entrepreneurial community, and the implementation of a simplified financial accounting framework. These developments are expected to offer viable solutions that enable entrepreneurs to progress economically without violating Sharia principles, thus promoting a more inclusive and sustainable business ecosystem.
