Abstract

Banks exist as the economic powerhouse of mankind humanity. Problems have arisen regarding the banking system, which has narrowed down to interest, thus becoming a controversial topic of discussion. This causes differences of opinion among scholars such as Quraish shihab and Mutawalli as-sya'rowi. This difference of opinion regarding the status of interest can affect public interest in conducting transactions with banks. Objective This study aims to determine the comparison of the concepts of usury and bank interest according to Quraish shihab and Mutawalli as-sya'rowi. according to Quraish shihab and Mutawalli as-sya'rowi and its relevance to Indonesian banking. Indonesian banking. The research method used is qualitative method with literature study. Based on the results of the research, the law of interest according to Quraish Shihab is not something haram. Shihab is not something that is haram, considering that the current interest does not contain elements of persecution and oppression. contain elements of persecution and oppression between human beings. The method Quraish's method of legal istinbath takes four main steps, namely looking at the asbab nuzul of the verse, looking for keywords, quoting the opinions of previous scholars, and contextualizing and comparing them. and contextualizing and comparing usury with bank interest practices that occur today. that occurs at this time. The method of istinbâth ahkam used by Mutawalli as-sya'rowi in determining the status of interest is the Qur'an. Abstract

This study discusses the explanation of Surah An-Nisa (4):3 according to the tafsir of Ibn Abbas and the interpretation of the misbah written by the Quraish syihab related to polygamy. Polygamy is a marriage that has many partners. Surah An-Nisa (4):3 explains that a man may marry more than one woman under certain conditions. Related to this, there are many pros and cons among the community because it is considered deviant behavior. This study uses a normative research method, namely by using library research data and then analyzed using descriptive comparative analysis, namely comparing the interpretation of Ibn Abbas M. Quraish Shihab in the tafsir of Al-Misbah to Surah An-Nisa' (4):3, then comparing by looking for differences and similarities between interpreters in explaining the verses of the Qur'an. So it can be concluded that in the tafsir Ibn Abbas allows polygamy on the condition that it must be fair, because during the spread of Islam many companions died and forbade more than four, while in the tafsir misbah by M. Quraish Shihab stated that polygamy does not only look in terms of fairness but must look in terms of the conditions experienced to be able to do polygamy.

Abstract

This article discusses the tradition of the Maron sub-district community's belief in marital taboos. The majority of people living in Maron Sub-district are Muslims, but they also believe in mystical things such as the myth of the dragon of the year which is believed to bring mudharat (death) to the bride and groom who violate it. The purpose of this study is to reinterpret the customs that developed in Maron Probolinggo sub-district. The method used is qualitative by using the sociology approach of Islamic law. The results of the author's research using Talcott Parsons' four AGIL imperatives approach, show that the Maron sub-district community still preserves the tradition of abstinence from the myth of the dragon of the year that has existed from ancestral times and from generation to generation. Various social structures or systems maintain equilibrium so that the tradition can still take place and survive until now. Furthermore, the values contained in the tradition are to seek benefits by avoiding taboos that are believed to cause harm. Therefore, I can conclude that the tradition is a valid 'urf whose existence can still be tolerated and practiced by the people of Maron Sub-district.

Abstract

Inter religious communication is a process of exchanging information and ideas between followers of different religions with the aim of promoting understanding, tolerance, and cooperation. In interfaith communication, it is important to avoid discussions that may lead to conflicts. Many examples of interfaith communication have been implemented, one of which can be seen in the relationship between Buddhism,Confucianism, and Taoism at the Eng An Kiong Temple in Malang City. Despite their different teachings, the relationship between these three beliefs is very good, which prevents any conflicts from happening. The relationship between these three beliefs has been established for quite some time and has never experienced any internal or external conflicts. The Islamic perspective on the relationship between these three beliefs can be seen from the perspective of interfaith tolerance. Islam teaches to respect the beliefs and differences of others. Interfaith tolerance is crucial in creating peace. Additionally, interfaith communication also has a positive impact on strengthening social relationships among followers of different religions. Through open and respectful dialogue, followers of different religions can learn to understand and accept their differences, thus creating a harmonious and peaceful environment among diverse communities.

Abstract

Scientific writing is an essential skill in the academic world, especially in higher education, where scientific writing ability is an important indicator in assessing the academic quality of students. In the Arabic Language Education Study Program of STAI Al-Yasini Pasuruan, even though students are in their final semester, many of them still face obstacles in compiling scientific works that meet academic standards. This study aims to analyze the factors that affect the scientific writing skills of students in the 6th semester of the Arabic Language Education Study Program STAI Al-Yasini Pasuruan, with a quantitative approach. The focus of this research is to identify the influence of scientific writing training, the use of technology, and students' understanding of scientific writing rules on the quality of the scientific manuscripts produced. The research method used is a quantitative method with a correlational design. Data was collected through the distribution of a questionnaire consisting of 30 question items that measured three main variables: scientific writing training, the use of technology in scientific writing, and understanding of the rules of scientific writing. This questionnaire was distributed to 100 6th semester students as a research sample. The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive statistics to describe the profile of students' scientific writing skills, as well as multiple linear regression analysis to test the influence of each variable on the quality of scientific writing. The results of the study show that the scientific writing training received by students has a significant influence on their skills in compiling scientific writings that are systematic and in accordance with academic rules. The use of technology, such as reference management apps (Mendeley, Zotero) and anti-plagiarism tools, has also been proven to help students improve the quality of their writing. In addition, students' understanding of the basic principles of scientific writing, such as organizing ideas, using correct citations and references, and appropriate writing formats, plays an important role in influencing the quality of the scientific manuscripts produced. This study provides recommendations to improve the scientific writing training program on campus by strengthening a technology-based approach and deepening students' understanding of the applicable scientific writing rules. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of higher education curriculum, especially in supporting the improvement of students' scientific writing skills, as well as providing a basis for more effective learning policies in the Arabic Language Education Study Program.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the integration of moderate religious values in the learning of Islamic Education (PAI) at Al Azhar 11 Islamic Elementary School in Surabaya. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with an observational, interview, and documentation approach. The research results show that PAI teachers play a strategic role in designing, implementing, and evaluating learning that contains moderate values such as tasamuh (tolerance), i'tidal (justice), tawazun (balance), and tawassuth (middle path). The effectiveness of integrating these values is supported by a flexible curriculum, adequate learning facilities, and institutional support. However, limitations in time, a lack of technical guidance from the government, and insufficient contextual learning resources pose obstacles to its implementation. In conclusion, PAI learning that integrates moderation values has the potential to shape students' inclusive and tolerant character, but it needs to be supported by adequate policies and resources for optimal learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the construction of Islamic education based on religious moderation in the multireligious community of Perak Barat Village, Surabaya. In the context of religious diversity, the local community has succeeded in building a harmonious and peaceful life through the values of tolerance. This research uses qualitative research with a case study approach. The results of the study show that through Peter L Berger's theory of social construction, moderation values such as tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence have been firmly formed in the life of the Community. The construction process takes place through three main stages: externalization, objectification, and internalization. The value of moderation is not only taught formally, but is also revived in social practices such as mutual cooperation activities, interfaith activities, religious celebrations, and value education from an early age. This process succeeded in fostering collective awareness and forming the character of an open, peaceful, and tolerant society. Such Islamic education is an important foundation in strengthening harmony between religious communities in the midst of diverse societies.

Abstract

This study focuses on the meaning of the millennial generation who are former FPI Pasuruan sympathizers on the meaning of habib. This research is motivated by habib's position as a charismatic figure. They occupy a central role, because they are placed as "multiplayer" who can create discourse in society, especially in terms of religion. Of course, theologically, the privilege of a habib can be justified through the doctrine of the continuity of the nasab with the Prophet Muhammad. However, in the realm of reality, support for a particular habib is not directly proportional to support for another habib. This is as shown by the millennial generation who are former FPI Pasuruan sympathizers. This research produced three typologies related to their interpretation of habib. First, it is a group that considers habib as a noble person who should not be criticized. Second, habib as an ordinary human being who has the potential to be guilty. The third group assessed that the point of difference was not in the issue of nasab (habib) but in the side of piety.

Abstract

This study analyzes the contribution of madrassas in developing religious moderation in Indonesia in the millennial era, especially in response to the increase in radicalism and intolerance among students. Islamic education in madrasas has been considered to be still oriented towards cognitive aspects, so it is not optimal in shaping the character and spirituality of students. With a descriptive qualitative approach, this study uses primary data from the phenomenon of radicalism in the school environment, as well as secondary data from literature related to radicalism and religious education. The results of the study show that madrassas have a strategic role in forming a moderate and inclusive understanding of religion through the integration of moral and social values in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum. However, challenges still arise in the form of the dominance of textual approaches in learning, the potential for intolerance in textbooks, as well as the influence of the external environment and weak school policies in counteracting radicalism. This research emphasizes the importance of curriculum reorientation and the active role of teachers in instilling the values of tolerance, dialogism, and contextual religious understanding to prevent the development of radical ideas among madrasah students. Thus, madrasas are expected to be at the forefront of building the character of the young generation who are moderate, tolerant, and nationalistic.

Abstract

Moderate Islamic education is a crucial pillar in shaping students' character to be tolerant, just, and peace-loving, especially in a pluralistic society. MTsN Metatu Gresik, as a formal educational institution, strives to integrate religious moderation values into the learning process, particularly in the subject of Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Ethics). This study aims to explore the process of integrating Islamic moderation values in Aqidah Akhlak learning and its implications for students. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that values such as tawasuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), and i’tidal (justice) are integrated through curriculum planning, contextual and dialogic teaching methods, and teacher role-modeling. The implications are evident in students’ behavior, which becomes more inclusive, open to differences, and balanced in religious practice. This study indicates that Aqidah Akhlak learning holds strategic potential in instilling moderate Islamic values in a sustainable manner.
