Abstract

Socialization and Training on Making Liquid Organic Fertilizer NPK in Ngelo Village, Jatiroto District, Wonogiri. Farmers in Ngelo Village have constraints such as dependence on chemical fertilizers and reductions in chemical fertilizer subsidies from the government. Chemical fertilizers can increase agricultural productivity, but their continued use can have a negative impact on the environment and human health. Organic fertilizers can be used as an alternative to chemical fertilizers. Using liquid organic fertilizers from crop residues and livestock manure can increase soil fertility and crop yields. The activity aims to provide socialization about the importance of organic fertilizer and training on making liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) to farmers. This activity is a UNS KKN 126 teamwork program in coordination with Ngelo village officials. The method used in this activity is a participatory method of the community, especially the Ngelo Village Farmer group. The activity phase includes 1) socialization and discussion, and 2) practice to produce LOF. The participants of the activity were farmers representing farmer groups in Ngelo Village. Socialization materials include the importance of organic fertilizer, how to make liquid organic fertilizer, and how to apply it. The practice of making liquid organic fertilizer is carried out by the group, and can produce organic liquid fertilizer. The program results showed socialization about organic fertilizer, followed enthusiastically by the Ngelo Village farmer group. From the program, it's hoped that farmers are expected to understand the importance of using organic fertilizers and independently, or in groups, can produce LOF to meet the organic fertilizers needed in the field.

Abstract

Azolla microphylla as an Alternative Source of Organic Fertilizer in Rice Cultivation on Sandy Soil Field. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a commodity that has high economic value in Srigading Village, Sanden District, Bantul Regency. Azolla is a water fern that has high potential as a source of organic fertilizer. The use of azolla as a source of organic fertilizer is not widely known. The partner involved in this activity is Majelis Taklim Nailul Hidayah, which is not economically/socially productive, but its main livelihood is farming, especially rice. The rice cultivation system carried out by partners so far is still based on the conventional system, which utilizes chemical fertilizers. Azolla can serve as a source of organic fertilizers, acting as a substitute for or reducing the need for chemical fertilizers, thereby reducing dependence on them. The activity aims to increase partners' understanding of utilizing azolla for organic fertilizers through azolla cultivation, which is a straightforward process. The method planned for this activity involves explaining the introduction and development of azolla, as well as practicing the technique of multiplying azolla. The stages of the activity included site surveys, hands-on azolla cultivation, and the application of azolla to rice plants in sandy soil. The results showed that the partners already knew how to cultivate azolla, how to apply azolla, and the benefits of azolla on rice growth. Azolla microphylla was cultivated in ponds lined with tarpaulins measuring 2 m x 3 m x 0.5 m, using 0.5 kg of fresh azolla seedlings. Azolla was harvested 2 weekafter sowing, with one pond producing 37.5 kg of wet azolla, representing a 75-fold increase and a productivity of 12.5 kg/m³.

Abstract

Introduction of Appropriate Technology at Home Industry (HI) “Rambak Eco” Surakarta to Increase the Production Process Efficiency and Product Quality. The home industry (HI) "Rambak Eco" produces unfried and fried crackers. IRT "Rambak Eco" has limited production capacity, reaching 10 kg of flour per day, so it has been unable to meet market demand. This limited production capacity is caused by the low efficiency of the production process, especially the cracker-slicing process, which still uses manual equipment consisting of knives and cutting boards. Apart from that, the IRT "Rambak Eco" also experienced problems related to inconsistent product quality. The inconsistent quality of cracker products is caused by the low understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for the Home Industry, manual packaging using PE plastic bags without labelling, and the manual slicing process impact on the thickness of the products was not uniform. Efforts to resolve the "Rambak Eco" home industry problems were carried out through community service activities, including introducing a semi-automatic cracker slicer, GMP training, and packaging and labelling. Based on the evaluation, the community service activities increased the efficiency of the “rambak” cracker production process and improved product quality at the "Rambak Eco" HI. The process efficiency was demonstrated by reducing the cracker's slicing process from 30 minutes/Kg to 10 minutes/Kg and the drying process from 9 to 4 hours. Improving product quality includes uniform shape and size of crackers and unfried and fried cracker products packaged in attractive packaging with informative labels.

Abstract

Wonosari Village has quite a lot of rain-fed rice fields. The use of inorganic fertilizers in rice fields can also cause damage to soil structure, decreased fertility of soil microbes, environmental contamination, crop dependency, decline in biodiversity. Liquid organic fertilizer is a solution resulting from the decomposition of organic material originating from plant residues, agro-industrial waste, animal waste and human waste which contains more than one nutrient element. The aims of this service is to train farmers in making liquid organic fertilizer so that it can replace the use of inorganic fertilizers and be applied to their rice fields. The training program was held on February 25 2024 at Embung Munggur located in Wonosari Village, Gondangrejo District, Karanganyar Regency. The method of implementing this activity is carried out in several stages including introduction, implementation and evaluation. The results of the training showed that 80% of farmers who took part in the training understood how to make POC, and 60% wanted to make POC in the future. The post test results also show that community knowledge about LOF is 20% and skills are 60%. And It is hoped that it can continue to be developed so that farmers no longer depend on inorganic fertilizers.

Abstract

Implementation of Three Information Technology Access Points as an Effort to Enhance Resources in the Development of Kampung Inspirasi. Sumbersalak village, Ledokombo District, Jember Regency is located at the foot of Mount Raung, with the geographical conditions of many coffee plantations. The majority of the people there work as coffee farmers and breeders of goats or cattle. There is the Sekar Wangi farmer group, a collection of several potential residents with visionary souls. The activities carried out by the farmer groups range from making Arabica and Robusta coffee. All community activities are carried out at Rumah Inspiration. The place is for various activities, including children's learning activities, making compost, and even the Sekar Wangi farmer group center. One of the informants we interviewed was the head of the farmer group in Sumbersalak Village. From the survey, the majority of people work as coffee farmers, and many piles of coffee skin waste and livestock manure are left unattended so that they can pollute the environment. Residents usually sell the coffee skin itself for 300 rupiahs per kilogram. Therefore, a design was made regarding the manufacture of compost from coffee husk waste and livestock manure using a compost mixer with digital technology. It aims to utilize waste which can later be utilized as a result in organic compost by coffee farmers and traded online through e-commerce so that more people know about this product, it can improve the economy of the Sumbersalak villagers later.
