Abstract

The study aimed to design officiating situations according to the three-person officiating mechanics system and present them to fourth-year female students. The research population consisted of (166) female students, of whom (62) were excluded due to absence or because they were active players. Thus, the final sample consisted of (99) female students. Three different models were presented for each officiating situation, distributed into three colors (blue, red, and black). The blue option represented the most correct officiating decision and was awarded (3) points, while the red option received (2) points, and the black option received (1) point. The researcher employed the descriptive method due to its suitability to nature of study. The results were obtained in form of raw scores, which represent original scores derived from application of tests or any other measurement tool before being statistically processed, difficulty lies in interpreting these scores, as their meaning and significance are not easily understood without further analysis.

Abstract

Fencing students face many difficulties that occur during lessons to varying degrees, and repeated exposure to it, can lead to a student losing motivation to win and being unable to withstand such challenges. One of the researchers is a fencing instructor encountered such difficulties, which became increasingly apparent during exams. The researchers attribute decline in performance to weaknesses in mental fitness and psychological resilience is a crucial factor in achieving optimal performance among combatants, because combatants face numerous situations, including flow state of fight physical and technical exertion required under greater pressure. This necessitates increased effort, greater endurance, and ability to confront challenges with maximum intensity. Consequently, researchers have focused on studying relationship between these two variables and students fencing performance. This study aimed to develop measures of mental fitness and psychological resilience, recognizing reality of mental fitness and psychological resilience and level of achievement among students in fencing, identify relationship between mental fitness, achievement level and psychological resilience. The most important conclusions were sample members have very good levels of both mental fitness and psychological toughness in fencing for third-year students in Colleges of Physical Education at Al-Qasim Green University, there is a significant correlation between mental fitness and level of achievement in fencing, and also between psychological toughness and level of achievement in fencing, there is a correlational relationship between mental fitness and psychological toughness with level of achievement in fencing for third-year students in faculties of physical education at Al-Qasim Green University.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate differences in use of Round house strategy on cognitive achievement of certain teaching methodologies concepts for second-year students at Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Mosul. The researcher hypothesized that there are statistically significant differences in average cognitive achievement scores for certain teaching methodologies concepts between experimental group, which studied using Round house strategy, and control group, which studied using traditional method. The researcher used experimental method due to its suitability to nature of research. The sample was randomly selected from two sections of second-year students at Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Mosul. The experimental group consisted of section (E), while control group consisted of section (F). Homogeneity and equivalence were ensured between the groups. Curriculum for second-year teaching methods course, comprising seven semesters, was adopted. The researcher prepared an educational program that included learning units based on Round house strategy. Program consisted of eight learning units, which were studied by experimental group. Control group studied using traditional method. The researcher used necessary educational aids and techniques to implement research experiment, following tools were used to obtain results: a preliminary information form, McKinsey Multiple Intelligences Test, and a multiple-choice cognitive achievement test. The researcher concluded that students in experimental group outperformed control group in cognitive achievement, and that both Round house strategy and traditional method were effective in improving cognitive achievement. The researcher recommends using educational material prepared according to Round house strategy in teaching methods course for second-year students in faculties of physical education and sports science, and using Roundhouse strategy in teaching sports science within curricula of faculties of physical education and sports science.
