Abstract

The climate crisis is not merely an environmental issue; rather, it is a manifestation of systemic inequality that exacerbates social and gender disparities, particularly in coastal regions. In Morodemak Village, Demak, Central Java, tidal flooding has become a recurring ecological disaster with significant ramifications for the local population, particularly women. The consequences of these challenges are particularly pronounced for women, who often experience physical exhaustion from reproductive work, skin infections due to contaminated water, and mental distress from dual responsibilities and inadequate structural support. The objective of this study is to elucidate how women's bodies function as epistemic spaces in response to the climate crisis, as well as how women's agency manifests through collective solidarity in the context of minimal state presence. The methodological approach is qualitative, employing an intrinsic case study design. The study's design encompasses the following methods: in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), participatory observation, and body-territory mapping. The informants consist of adult and elderly women who have experienced the direct impact of tidal flooding and are involved in community adaptation practices. The findings indicate that women in Morodemak encounter a multitude of vulnerabilities, yet they have cultivated adaptive capacities through community organizations such as Puspita Bahari. The state's regulatory approach is considered negligent, as it does not formally recognize tidal flooding as a disaster. This oversight has resulted in policies that demonstrate a lack of consideration for the needs of affected individuals and communities. This study underscores the importance of acknowledging women's bodily experiences as a foundation for designing fair and participatory climate policies

Abstract

This study examines the advocacy strategies used by Sisters Uncut, a feminist grass-root group based in the United Kingdom, in supporting Palestinian women during the period of 2021–2025. The research is driven by the structural and intersecting forms of oppression experienced by Palestinian women, including from state violence and gender-based violence which have intensitified with the escalation of the Israel-Palestine conflict. Sisters Uncut demonstrates a significant expansion of its advocacy agenda, extending beyond domestic issues to international solidarity through direct-action tactics conducted both in physical public spaces and digital platforms. This research applies New Social Movement theory to explain the characteristics of Sisters Uncut’s movement as a part of contemporary feminist movement. Furthermore, the concept of Intersectional Feminism is employed to analyse the multiple layers of oppression faced by Palestinian women. The study also utilises the Transnational Advocacy Network framework to examine the cross-border advocacy strategies of Sisters Uncut that focuses on four main tactics: information politics, symbolic politics, leverage politics, and accountability politics. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with library research as the primary data collection approach. The findings reveal that Sisters Uncut actively expands its campaign beyond national borders, actively engaging in transnational feminist solidarity by advocating for the protection of Palestinian women through various advocacy strategies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the structural inequalities and systematic impacts of polygamy in Indonesia, which often ignores the principle of gender justice. Although legally restricted by the Marriage Law and the Compilation of Islamic Law, requirements such as "wife's consent" and "guaranteed justice" are difficult to substantively implement due to strong patriarchal bias and unequal power relations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the construction of gender justice in the discourse and practice of polygamy through a multidisciplinary approach to uncover its psychosocial, economic, and health impacts. The research method used is descriptive qualitative analysis with theological, juridical, and sociological approaches, involving the reinterpretation of religious texts and an analysis of positive legal regulations in Indonesia. The results show that polygamy causes multidimensional suffering, including chronic subordination and anxiety for the first wife, the loss of full custody of children, and increased mental and physical health risks. Theologically, polygamy in the Qur'an is restrictive and contextual, not a universal recommendation. Therefore, monogamy is more aligned with the goals of Islamic marriage, namely sakinah (sacred, loving, and compassionate), while polygamy should be viewed only as a rukhsah (emergency relief) in very limited circumstances. Therefore, legal reconstruction based on gender equality is urgent to prevent exploitative practices.

Abstract

Abstract

The decline in positive character values among young children indicates a gap in the availability of engaging and culturally rooted learning media for character education. This study aims to develop a storybook based on Gurindam Dua Belas as an innovative medium to instill character values in early learners. The research employed a mixed-method approach with a Research and Development (RD) design following the 4D model (Define, Design, Development, Dissemination). The study involved 33 kindergarten level B students from three educational institutions in Tanjunguban, along with three teachers, one principal and four parents. Data were collected through structured interviews and observation sheets. Expert validation rated the product as “good” (media 80%, language 70%, material 80%). The storybook “Gurindam Cilik: Panca Indera Ajaibku” significantly improved children’s character scores, with the average increasing from 421.85 (pre-test) to 623.20 (post-test). A paired sample t-test confirmed the improvement as statistically significant (p = 0.037), representing a 47.7% increase. This study contributes an alternative learning medium that enables educators to instill positive character values from an early age through the integration of local cultural heritage enriched with moral lessons.

Abstract

Women's participation in international educational programs has become an important pathway for promoting women's empowerment and strengthening global citizenship. Despite increasing opportunities for international mobility, women often negotiate academic aspirations alongside family responsibilities and social expectations. This study examines how participation in the King Salman Global Academy (KSGA) Arabic Language and Culture Program contributed to the development of global citizenship and women's empowerment among Indonesian female participants. A qualitative case study was conducted involving six Indonesian women from diverse professional backgrounds, including lecturers, teachers, and a legal studies graduate. Data were collected through participant observation, reflective documentation, and semi-structured interviews during the eight-month program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from October 2025 to May 2026. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that participants joined the program to enhance Arabic language proficiency, expand international networks, gain intercultural learning experiences, and support their professional development. Interactions with participants from various countries strengthened intercultural competence, fostered global citizenship, and encouraged participants to promote Indonesian culture through cultural presentations, food exchanges, and collaborative activities. Although participants experienced challenges related to family separation and domestic responsibilities, they reported increased self-confidence, improved Arabic and English language skills, broader global perspectives, and stronger professional aspirations. These findings demonstrate that international educational programs function as transformative spaces for advancing both women's empowerment and global citizenship.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of family resolution on children's education and examine the role of mediation as an alternative conflict resolution that is oriented towards protecting children's educational rights from an Islamic legal perspective. The study uses a qualitative approach with library research. Data were obtained from the Qur'an, tafsir books, laws and regulations, books, and scientific articles, and then analyzed using content analysis techniques through reduction, classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that family disputes have an impact on decreasing children's motivation and academic achievement, reduced parental attention, psychological and emotional disorders, and changes in social behavior that hinder the continuation of children's education. The study also found that mediation has a strong normative basis in Islamic law and positive Indonesian law, so it functions not only as a dispute resolution mechanism but also as an instrument for protecting children's educational rights by prioritizing the principle of the child's best interests. The integration of the concept of mediation, the principles of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and the values of Islamic family law strengthens mediation's position as an approach that can maintain continuity in child care and education despite family conflict. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of strengthening mediation practices oriented towards protecting children's educational rights and of developing an Islamic family mediation model that collaboratively involves mediators, judges, counselors, and educational institutions.

Abstract

Discrimination against girls in Indonesia is a multifaceted phenomenon reflecting deeply rooted gender inequalities within the nation's social and patriarchal structures. This research analyzes various dimensions of discrimination experienced by girls, ranging from access to education and healthcare to social participation and protection from gender-based violence. Utilizing a qualitative approach through literature study and secondary data analysis, this research identifies the structural and cultural factors that perpetuate gender injustice. The results indicate that although Indonesia has made significant progress in formal regulations and gender mainstreaming, substantial disparities in the treatment of girls remain, especially in rural areas and communities with strong patriarchal values. Findings highlight that stereotypes, child marriage, and domestic workloads are primary barriers to optimizing girls' potential. The study concludes that a holistic strategy involving legislative harmonization, educational transformation, and multisectoral collaboration is essential for fostering an inclusive environment for girls in Indonesia

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the restorative justice approach in drug crimes involving children in Indonesia. The research method used a systematic literature review of 11 selected articles. The results showed that restorative justice in cases where children are involved in drugs can be carried out under the condition that the criminal sanction is less than seven years and the child is a first-time offender, whether the child is less than 12 years old or 12-17 years old. The restorative justice approach involves all parties. In cases where the restorative justice approach cannot be used, imprisonment is the final option.
