Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease in the form of a metabolic disorder characterized by blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits. Diabetes mellitus patients may have physical complaints of pain, stiffness, numbness, and tingling that are usually related to the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy. This article aims to report the effect of Su Jok therapy on the severity scale of physical complaints in diabetes mellitus patients. Methods: This case report involved 15 respondents, and the data were collected in May 2023 at a public health center in Yogyakarta. Su Jok therapy was conducted by massaging with a probe for 5-10 minutes on the pain point found on the hands, and then followed by putting the fenugreek seeds with the sticky tape. Wilcoxon signed-rank tests were used for statistical analysis.Result: The report showed 13 respondents were female (86.7%) and 2 respondents were male (13.3%), with the largest number in the age range of 51-55 years and the age range of 61-65 years, as many as 5 respondents each (33.3%). A total of 19 types of physical complaints were found, with the most complaints being pain in both knees (26.67%). On a Likert scale of 1 to 5, where 1 represents no complaints and 5 represents extremely severe complaints, the average severity of physical complaints was 3.16 prior to therapy and 2.05 following therapy. Conclusion: Before and after Su Jok therapy, individuals with diabetes mellitus saw a substantial decrease in the severity scale of physical complaints (p=0.001, p<0.05). It may be stated that Su Jok combined with massage and fenugreek seeds, is a therapeutic approach that can help individuals with diabetes mellitus experience less severe physical problems.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Nutritional Status is one of the predictors of human energy balance. Adequate dietary intake plays an important role in providing human body with proper needs of nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein and fats which are converted into energy. The body's ability to produce adequate energy may be tied to the level of fitness it maintains, particularly in support of bodily functions, physical activity, and overall well-being. To find the correlation between dietary intake and fitness level, The team of coaches, doctor, nutritionist, physiotherapist, and medical record professional try to find the connection between nutrition intake of young adults of Marching band team’s and their physical fitness using Copper Fitness test. This study includes all 41 young adults of Marching Band’s team. The interview of nutrition intake was taken using an online food frequency questionnaire, meanwhile the Copper fitness test was taken directly under supervision of their fitness coaches at Yogyakarta. The result of Spearman Rank Correlation test between Body Mass Index (BMI) with Cooper fitness test result has negative correlation (r= -0.265, p=0.047), total dietary protein intake has positive correlation and statistically significant with Cooper fitness test result (r =0.287 and p= 0.034). On the other hand, other dietary intake such as total energy consumption, carbohydrates, fats and hydration have positive correlation with Copper Fitness test result (r=0.238, p=0.067, r=0.038, p=0.406; r= 0.065, p=0.344; r= 0.062, p=0.350). Considering these findings, it is essential for the marching band team to maintain their BMI and their dietary intake especially protein to maintain their muscle health to have an excellent fitness condition of their fitness level. However, the correlation might relatively weak means, it has another factor may also contribute to individual’s performance on the Cooper fitness test.

Abstract

Introduction: Pandemic Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19) has passed, but social determinants severity of COVID-19 in pregnant women are still under report. Pregnant women have a higher risk of experiencing severe COVID-19 infection, with the potential for serious complications for maternal and fetal health. The impact of pregnancy planning towards severity of COVID-19 in pregnant women is still lack reported. Objective: this study conducted to determine social factors that predict COVID-19 with severe symptoms among pregnant women at Rumah Sakit Lapangan Khusus COVID-19 (RSLKC) in Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia.Method: through the case-control study, 99 pregnant women who had experienced COVID-19 between August 2021 and May 2022 and were treated at RSLKC self-reporting the retrospective data. Chi square test and path analysis were used for determining the relationship and the direction on the dependent variable, respectively. Results: severe symptoms of COVID-19 were experienced by pregnant who were not vaccinated (p=0.032), undergo daily physical work (p = 0.023) and undergo unplanned pregnancy (p=0.027). The three variables have a direct influence coefficient magnitude -2.62; 4.05; 2.12, respectively. Unplanned pregnancy is directly influenced by age >35 years and the number of children with coefficient magnitudes 2.81.; -1.69, respectively. Conclusion: Unplanned pregnancy is a potential social determinant of severe COVID-19 symptoms in pregnant women and other several factors such as vaccine status and physical work (as direct factors), as well as age > 35 years and number of children (as indirect factors that predict unplanned pregnancy).

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy is a critical phase in a woman’s life that induces a range of alterations, including physical, emotional, and social changes. Prenatal anxiety, often known as anxiety during pregnancy, is a prevalent psychological illness that frequently manifests throughout the gestation period. Knowledge is an indicator of anxiety levels throughout pregnancy. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of implementing the MAMA mobile application intervention on the level of awareness and anxiety related to pregnancy among pregnant women. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design, which included a pretest and posttest, along with a control group that was not equivalent to the experimental group. This study followed a quantitative method and was conducted at two community health centres in the Sleman, Yogyakarta area for the control group and intervention group. We conducted the research from December 2019 to March 2020. The participants in this study were exclusively third-semester pregnant women who received care at community health centres and matched the specified research requirements. The sample size for each group consisted of 39 respondents. This study included a knowledge questionnaire to assess pregnancy knowledge and the HRSA questionnaire to assess pregnancy anxiety. Results: The research results indicate a significant impact on the knowledge variable in the intervention group before and after they received the MAMA mobile application (p=0.000). In addition, the intervention group experienced an influence on the anxiety variable before and after receiving the MAMA mobile application (p=0.018). Conclusion: The mean difference test comparing the control group to the MAMA mobile application group revealed a significant impact of the application on pregnant knowledge. Abstract

Introduction: Senior Integrated Health Care Post (POKSILA) is an elderly health monitoring activity at the community level. Kedungmundu Public Health Center has the largest number of elderly people and POKSILA in Semarang. Participant measurements are recorded manually through cadre notebooks and POKSILA forms owned by participants. Also, reporting is still limited, and the format is not uniform. This POKSILA data can be used to monitor the health condition of the elderly continuously. Methods: To solve the problem, the stages of service activities include an overview of the characteristics of the elderly, need assessment, activity preparation, and handing over monitoring books to community health centers. Results: Most participants in POKSILA were female (88%) and aged 60-74 (52%). Based on FGD, develop a recording book for cadres and a monitoring book for elderly participants. The book will be developed on cadre needs, Mentari Sehat Nusantara apps, and guidelines for elderly health. To develop the book, we consulted and brainstormed with the experts in Kedungmundu PHC about the design and content of the book. Within local data and cross-collaboration, the tools should be appropriate to local conditions and easily understood by the communities. This community-based service initiative has demonstrated the potential for improving health monitoring and service delivery for elderly populations in Kedungmundu, Semarang. Conclusion: By addressing key challenges identified in the FGDs and implementing standardized tools for health data recording, the initiative has made important strides toward enhancing the quality of elderly care in the region.

Abstract

The Indonesian government regulates the use of tobacco products by establishing Smoke-Free Zones (SFZs), including through the Sleman Regent Regulation No. 42/2012, which mandates educational institutions to implement SFZ policies. State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga, located in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, is expected to comply with this regulation, especially given its Strategic Plan to establish a Health Faculty and its broader commitment to creating a healthy campus. However, smoking remains prevalent on campus. This study aimed to analyze the perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors of the university’s academic community toward the SFZ policy as a basis for policy development. Data were collected from 1,228 respondents, consisting of 1,164 students and 64 staff (including lecturers), using a self-administered questionnaire. The survey was distributed in January 2024 and promoted through official channels and peer networks to increase the response rate. The data were analyzed using a descriptive approach, with results presented in frequencies and percentages. Findings show that, in general, respondents expressed positive support for the adoption of a campus-wide smoke-free or comprehensive tobacco-free policy.
