Abstract

The ikat woven fabric of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) represents one of Indonesia’s intangible cultural heritages, rich in philosophical values, symbolism, and local wisdom. Rumah Tenun Ina Ndao in Kupang City plays a significant role in preserving and promoting ikat weaving traditions; however, it continues to face challenges in cultural education and market expansion. Conventional educational methods and suboptimal marketing strategies have made information about the meanings of motifs, philosophies, and production processes of ikat fabrics less accessible to the public. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) offers an innovative solution through the application of Augmented Reality (AR) technology based on QR Codes, utilizing the MyWebAR web platform. The AR technology provides an interactive visual experience through 3D objects, animations, and audio to convey the meanings and philosophies of ikat motifs from various regions of NTT, as well as the traditional weaving processes embedded with cultural values. The implementation methods include socialization, training, technology application, mentoring, and continuous evaluation. Consumers who scan the QR Code on products or promotional media gain an engaging educational experience—allowing them to view the motifs, understand the stories behind them, and virtually witness the weaving process. This enhances both cultural appreciation and consumer interest. The expected outcomes of this program include increasing public knowledge of local cultural heritage, strengthening the marketing of ikat woven products in local and global markets, and preserving NTT’s cultural legacy. The program outputs consist of scientific publications, mass media publications, and documentary videos to support the promotion and cultural education of NTT ikat weaving in a broader and more sustainable manner.

Abstract

The transition toward a circular economy has become essential in addressing environmental challenges and economic limitations in resource-based rural communities. Bentek Village, North Lombok Regency, faces persistent problems related to unmanaged bamboo waste generated from satay stick industries, which poses environmental risks and lacks economic value. This community service program aimed to accelerate the implementation of a waste-to-wealth–based circular economy by enhancing technical capacity, social entrepreneurship, and digital marketing skills. The target partners were the Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) “Lengkah Pangkok” and the youth organization Karang Taruna “Bareng-Bareng,” involving 40 participants. The program employed a participatory action research approach through stages of socialization, focus group discussions, training on bamboo waste processing into organic fertilizer and bio-briquettes, social entrepreneurship strengthening, infrastructure development, and continuous mentoring and evaluation. The results indicate an average competency improvement of 40.3% based on pre-test and post-test analyses, covering technical knowledge, social entrepreneurship, and digital marketing competencies. Qualitatively, the program enhanced environmental awareness, community participation, the establishment of two new waste-based business units, and reduced bamboo waste by approximately 60%. These findings demonstrate that a community-based circular economy approach is effective in promoting social empowerment, economic resilience, and environmental sustainability at the village level.

Abstract

This community service initiative was carried out to strengthen the visual identity of Janti Park, a water-based recreational site that previously lacked an official mascot to distinguish itself from similar destinations. The program focused on designing an icon as visual ambassador and a symbol of local pride. The implementation adopted a participatory approach through field observation, interviews with Bumdes Jaya Janti, design consultation, and promotional media application. The outcomes included the creation of a 2D mascot illustration, its application on signage boards and merchandise, and official registration under Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The program successfully enhanced community involvement, reinforced Janti Park’s branding, and opened opportunities for creative economy activities. This project demonstrates that collaboration among academia, village governance, and local communities can produce sustainable innovations for tourism development.

Abstract

This community service activity demonstrates that the implementation of a Computer Based Test (CBT)-based village apparatus selection system can strengthen public accountability in the administration of village governance. Through an advocacy approach, the mentoring provided by the Waskita Dharma University Community Service Team contributes to encouraging a more transparent, objective, and accountable selection process, from the planning stage to the evaluation of the exam implementation. In addition, strengthening the competency of prospective village apparatus through CBT-based selection also raises awareness of the importance of responsibility and accountability to the community. Experience in Bedoroto Village, Munjungan District, Trenggalek Regency, shows that the use of technology in the village apparatus recruitment process can be a strategic foundation in realizing professional, accountable, and trusted village governance.

Abstract

This community service initiative addresses the identified gap between theoretical understanding and practical application of financial risk management in the Roemah Djoempoetan Srihadi SME, a cultural enterprise in Yogyakarta specializing in jumputan and batik products. Despite the SME's recognized cultural value and participation in government mentoring programs, initial interviews revealed critical vulnerabilities: a complete absence of financial risk measurement, inadequate financial record-keeping, and high dependency on consignment sales models. These shortcomings render the business susceptible to capital depletion, revenue instability, and impediments to sustainable growth. The intervention employed a two-pronged methodology comprising targeted socialization sessions on financial risk management literacy and direct mentoring. The program focused on implementing practical solutions, including diversifying sales channels through e-commerce platforms, simplifying financial recording using user-friendly applications, and strengthening policy advocacy through MSME associations. The outcomes demonstrate that a comprehensive approach integrating financial literacy with strategic business adjustments significantly enhances operational resilience. This initiative underscores the necessity of transitioning culturally significant SMEs from production-centric hobbies to professionally managed enterprises, thereby ensuring the dual sustainability of both the business entity and the local cultural heritage it represents.

Abstract

This research is grounded in academic concern arising from the Researcher’s observations regarding the qibla direction of graves in Hubbal Khaer Hamlet, Eyat Mayang Village, which are not aligned with one another. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to determine the community’s understanding of how to determine the qibla direction of graves, to identify the methods used by the people of Hubbal Khaer Hamlet in determining the qibla direction, and to assess the accuracy of the qibla orientation of graves in the area. This study employs a field research design with a qualitative approach. The qualitative approach is used to reveal the facts occurring in the field related to the Accuracy Test of the Qibla Direction of Graves in Hubbal Khaer Hamlet, Eyat Mayang Village. The findings of this research show that the determination of the qibla direction of graves in Hubbal Khaer Hamlet is carried out using the method of observing the direction of the sunset, as the community in earlier times was not yet familiar with modern or advanced instruments. Another method used is relying on the opinions of religious scholars or Tuan Guru. In addition, the community also follows the orientation of previously established graves. The accuracy test conducted using the Mizwala Qibla Finder indicates that several grave orientations are inaccurately aligned. The lower graveyard shows a deviation of 45° toward the south, indicating that its qibla direction is inaccurate. Meanwhile, the upper graveyard shows a deviation of approximately 4° toward the north, indicating that its qibla direction is less accurate.

Abstract

Learning at SDK Nita 1 still relies on textbooks without the development of contextual teaching materials, so that local wisdom is not optimally utilized in the learning process. In addition, waste management at the school has not been carried out properly because all waste is burned every morning, causing pollution and health risks for the school community. This community service activity aims to improve teachers' ability to develop teaching materials based on the local wisdom of Sikka Regency and to increase the awareness and skills of the school community in environmentally friendly waste management. The implementation methods include socialization, training, technology application, mentoring, evaluation, and program sustainability in two focus areas: teaching material development and waste management education. The results of the activity show a significant increase in competence and behavior. A total of 100% of teachers successfully developed teaching materials based on local wisdom using design technology (Canva), and all of them were able to manage the related learning administration. In terms of the environment, 75% of school members were able to sort organic, inorganic, paper, and hazardous waste; 75% were able to process organic waste into compost; 75% were able to make bricks from plastic waste; 85% were able to store inorganic waste suitable for sale at waste banks; and 80% were able to use compost for educational plants. Waste management facilities such as segregated trash bins, compost bins, and waste banks have also been successfully established as supporting infrastructure. Waste management facilities such as separate trash bins, compost bins, and waste banks were also successfully set up to support sustainability. These findings show that integrating local wisdom and environmental education into PkM can create more contextual learning and build a clean, healthy, and sustainable school culture.
