Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to analyze the development of legal education in Indonesia over time from the perspective of Citizenship Education, especially within the school environment. The method used in this research is normative legal research, enriched with literature studies. This research is motivated by various incidents of legal violations committed by different parties, reported through both print and electronic media. In fact, the existing legal rules in society are meant to serve as guidelines and directions for individuals and the community in their behavior and interactions with others, thus creating security, peace, and prosperity. Therefore, it is essential that legal education is instilled and taught from an early age. One effective and systematic avenue for teaching and internalizing legal education in society is through Citizenship Education in schools. This is because the subject includes legal material, both explicitly and implicitly. The results of this study indicate that legal content is taught at every grade level/phase with the aim of strengthening students' character, particularly their public character, one of which is adhering to the prevailing legal rules. Moreover, teaching Citizenship Education as legal education to students also needs to be balanced with teachers setting a good example to ensure that the legal education is effective.

Abstract

Within the context of modern education that prioritizes the acquisition of scientific knowledge, the existence of Muatan Lokal (local content) requires a valid epistemological foundation and mechanism. The objective of this research is to propose an epistemological framework for incorporating Muatan Lokal into the national curriculum of Indonesia. The qualitative approach employed in this study follows a hermeneutic philosophical process. The research method is literature study with literature sources and literature review as method of collecting data. The study contends that constructivism serves as underlying philosophy for the advancement of culturally oriented education, as it perceives knowledge as context-dependent phenomenon influenced by language. Consequently, within the curriculum, local content learning is proposed as the medium to bridge scientific knowledge into the cultural context of Indonesia communities. In practical terms, Kuntowijoyo’s theoretical framework facilitates the integration of indigenous content into the curriculum through the objectification process encompassing the interpretation, critical-dialectic analysis, and community acceptance.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the values of Pancasila and apply those values in the drafting of judicial decisions by judges. This study is conducted using a normative juridical method, which is a type of research that analyzes or examines the internal aspects of the prevailing law. Pancasila is the foundation of the State and the ideology that serves as a guide in various aspects of life in Indonesia. As the country's philosophical foundation, Pancasila emphasizes universal values such as justice, unity, democracy, humanity, and belief in Almighty God. A judge's decision is a written document drafted by the judge as a reflection of the judge's intellectual and moral considerations, with the purpose of upholding justice in society. The process of making a judicial decision consists of three main stages: case examination, judges' deliberation, and the formulation of the decision. The values of Pancasila, which include belief in God, humanity, unity, democracy, and social justice, are fundamental to national and state life, including in the drafting of judicial decisions. Judges are obligated to reflect these values in the judicial process to achieve justice that aligns with moral and ethical principles. Judicial decisions must apply the values of Pancasila because Pancasila is the state's ideological foundation, which serves as the philosophical, ethical, and normative basis for national life in Indonesia. As the source of all legal sources, Pancasila imbues the Indonesian legal system, including the judicial process.
