Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension and diabetes among the elderly in East Java reached 63.2% and 21.6%, respectively, making these significant health problems. Controlling these diseases depends on drug adherence, which is also influenced by the patient's level of knowledge. Therefore, a health education program is needed to increase the elderly's knowledge regarding hypertension and diabetes as well as drug adherence. In addition, this program also provides education about the use of curcuma (Curcuma xanthorriza) and cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) as nutraceutical products. This activity was held for two days at the Manukan Lor Culinary Tourism Center, attended by 25 participants aged 48-81 years; there were 4 men (16%) and 21 women (84%). The material presented on the first day included symptoms, signs, and complications of hypertension and diabetes, lifestyle influence, and drug adherence. Meanwhile, on the second day, there was a presentation and demonstration of making nutraceutical products from ginger and cinnamon. A questionnaire is filled out before and after the presentation to assess the success of education activities. The statistical analysis results showed that this health education activity significantly increased (p=0.002) participants' knowledge regarding hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Abstract

Kwandang District has abundant fisheries resource potential. Therefore, it is necessary for the fisheries processing process to increase local community income to support the economy of the community in Kwandang District by utilizing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The problem in society is that there is still a lack of experience in implementing sanitation and hygiene in MSMEs, such as sanitation and hygiene of raw materials, employees, facilities, infrastructure, products, final products, mutual contamination, and handling of the waste produced. The aim of this activity is to increase knowledge regarding good production methods by implementing correct sanitation and hygiene and creating quality products that are liked by the public that meet product quality standards. The method used consists of 3 stages. The first stage is conducting surveys and collecting data on the distribution of groups of MSME actors, the second stage is educational activities by providing material on sanitation and hygiene and the third stage is training on fishery product processing. The results of location observations show that there are 5 groups of fisheries processing MSMEs in Katialada Village, Kwandang District, and with socialization/counseling activities they can provide information to business actors regarding the importance of implementing sanitation and hygiene related to all processing facilities, cleaning facilities, personnel and the environment in the Processing Unit Fish (UPI). In addition, training was carried out by demonstrating frozen ebi furry shrimp processing techniques. Conclusion Educational activities with material on the application of sanitation and hygiene as well as fisheries processing techniques can increase the knowledge and skills of business actors. Implementing good and correct sanitation and hygiene in MSMEs can produce standard quality products that comply with Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and can expand marketing.

Abstract

Large amounts of fish production will have an impact on the need for land area and water use. One of the designs used is an aquaponic model. The concept of the aquaponics model is efficiency in land use and saving water use, then it is used properly by aquatic plants to be able to grow from the results of unconsumed food waste and the results of fish metabolism so that the cultivation environment and water quality are clean. This activity was carried out so that the public could understand how to make an aquaponic model, then experiments were carried out on raising fish and vegetables. The method of implementing the activity is in the form of training in making models of aquaponic cultivation systems so that they can solve problems faced by the community, but previously material is provided to business groups to increase knowledge before implementing the creation of a series of aquaponic systems. The community is directly involved in making a series of aquaponic models for freshwater fish cultivation. The aquaponics model is one of the offers provided to be a solution so that sustainable food production can be carried out to meet people's basic needs. The system created in this activity is a media bed model because it is suitable for beginner businesses or household scale. The people of Waai village are beginners in running a business, so this system can be put into practice. Because it is space efficient, and the manufacturing costs are relatively cheap, the electricity used is small, all types of plants can be grown. After the design has been formed, the fish and vegetable rearing process is carried out and after two months the harvest is carried out. The community understands how to make an aquaponic system model and practices it in raising fish and vegetables so that they can be harvested. So the activities of freshwater cultivation business groups must continue to develop.

Abstract

Climate change has long developed into a global issue. Even so, most of the focus of this issue still rests on the impact of climate change on the atmosphere and living things that occupy the land on this earth. In addition, despite the incessant campaigns to prevent the worsening of this phenomenon, not all of them are accompanied by concrete actions to reduce the factors that cause climate change. One of the efforts that can be made to encourage public awareness and willingness to contribute to preventing the effects of climate change is to provide education for the younger generation, for example student groups. Therefore, the purpose of this community service activity is to open insight of student groups regarding climate change and its impact on the sea, as well as to provide knowledge about steps taken to prevent climate change from getting worse. The method used in this activity is the provision of material that is relevant to the purpose of the activity. The participants selected were a student group of 50 people who were the members of the Saka Kalpataru, Scouts, Sumbawa Regency. The activity was carried out together with the Scout camp activities in Rhee District, Sumbawa Regency. As a form of evaluation of participants' understanding about the information presented, all participants were asked to fill out an assessment instrument. The result of this evaluation indicates that there has been an increase in participants' knowledge and understanding about the impacts of ocean climate change on marine environment both locally and globally.

Abstract

The SriTanio youth farming group, chaired by Tantra Gumilar, was founded in 2021 with the concept of creating sustainable organic farming by utilizing technological developments. However, the location of the agricultural land does not have access to electricity and is far from residential areas. So chili plant care is currently carried out conventionally, including irrigation and pest control. Farmers only estimate the intensity of watering. Currently, conventional methods are still used to control pests by making herbal pesticides made from herbs to repel insects without being able to break the life cycle of adult insects that disturb plants. The Community Partnership Program (PKM) is aimed at the SriTaniO group in nggul Arum village, Turi Sleman Yogyakarta. This PKM program applies the use of IoT and solar panels to increase the productivity of organic agricultural products. In monitoring plant growth, sensors for soil moisture, temperature and light intensity are needed. Plus the use of plant pest insect traps. This activity also opens up training opportunities for farmers and local youth who are interested in organic farming. In this activity, they share their organic farming knowledge and technology, so that the productivity and quality of their agricultural products increases. This PKM program applies the use of IoT and solar panels to increase the productivity of organic agricultural products. The output of this activity includes a solar panel system on agricultural land, the availability of an IoT-based land condition monitoring and automatic irrigation system as well as an IoT-based Pest Control System. With this system, farmers can monitor land moisture conditions at any time. So, by using IoT technology in the process of caring for and producing chili plants on land far from access to electricity, harvest yields can be maximized.
