Abstract

Histamine is one of the factors that cause acute and chronic disorders, so it is necessary to investigate further the mechanism of antihistamines in the treatment of allergic diseases. Antihistamines are substances that can reduce or block the effects of histamine on the body by blocking histamine receptors. Antihistamines are one of the drugs that are often prescribed to children to the elderly. Thus the application of therapy in medicine is needed to ensure the use of appropriate drugs to prevent the occurrence of medication errors so that the goal of therapeutic effectiveness can be achieved. The purpose of this study was to determine the prescribing pattern of antihistamine drugs and assess the accuracy of the administration of antihistamines based on dose accuracy and potential drug interactions. Prescribing studies of this drug are descriptive quantitative and qualitative by using data sources in the form of patient prescription sheets taken retrospectively. The results of quantitative research data show that patients 57.23% were female, the highest age was 55-59 years old 12.26%, the most widely used drug was setirizine 72.48%, dose accuracy 89.60% and more doses 10.40%, the potential for drug interactions occurred in 27.83%, The drug that has the most potential for interaction is setirizine with theophylline.

Abstract

The increased health problems caused by microorganisms at the hands, hand sanitizer gel as the way out to maintained health and hand hygiene because it is more practical and easy to carry. The purpose of this study was to make formulations of gel with physically stable and had inhibitory activity against the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. In this study three formulations were made with a ratio of Hydroxy ethyl selilulose 0.5% (F1), 1% (F2) and 2% (F3) then physical stability testing included organoleptic, homogeneity, pH and dispersion before and after accelerated storage, then antimicrobial activity by sump method. Organoleptic test showed there is no color, smell and texture changes. The results of the homogenety test, formula with concentration of Hydroxy ethyl cellulose 1% and 2% is homogeneous. The pH test results showed that the gel preparation did not change pH. Dispersing test showed concentration hydroxyethyl cellulose 1% has the highest dispersion value. but statistical paired T test results showed that the dispersion before and after storage was accelerated significantly different 0.043 (p <0.05), but still in accordance with the range of dispersion specifications for a good semisolid preparation.The MIC test results showed Formulation F1, F2 and F3 ethanol extract red onion skin gel are strong inhibitory effect, ethanol extract of red onion skin gel F1 inhibitory zone is 16mm, F2 and F3 had the same inhibitory zone is 14.33. It can be concluded F2 has the best physical stability, but F1 is the most effective to inhibit Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Hypertension is a disease that often causes death because many people do not realize it. People have hypertension if the blood pressure above 140/90 mmHg after regular checking. In Puskesmas Rawang, hypertension is the second-highest disease. This study aims to overview drug administration in patient's hypertension. This research is an observational descriptive study using retrospective data with the inclusion criteria. Data was taken from the recipes in April till June 2019 period. Based on the research, 82 % of women more suffer than men. While the age criteria from 41 – 61 years was 53.8%. The majority of drugs were given in Puskesmas Rawang was amlodipine with a percentage of 89%.

Abstract

The medical problems encountered in geriatric patients cause the prescribing to be susceptible to polypharmacy so that the possibility of creating Drug Related Problems (DRPs) is likely. Beers Criteria is one method to avoid the occurrence of DRPs. This study aims to evaluate prescribing of geriatric patients based on the Beers Criteria 2015 at the internal medicine clinic in the outpatient installation of K.R.M.T Wongsonegoro Hospital Semarang. This research was an descriptive observational study using retrospective data from geriatric patients' medical records at the internal medicine clinic in the outpatient installation of K.R.M.T Wongsonegoro Hospital Semarang in the period October - December 2017. A total of 300 medical records were taken at simple random as samples. Data for each patient were only taken once during the study period. The patient is a national health insurance participant and is ≥60 years old. The data obtained was then identified using Beers Criteria 2015. Based on the prescription of 300 geriatric patients in the internal medicine clinic in Wongsonegoro Hospital Semarang, it is known that 88,33% patients received prescription included in Beers Criteria 2015. The five medicine most prescribed are Na diclofenac, omeprazole, digoxin, ranitidine, and diazepam. Medications included in Beers Criteria are medicine that should not be given to geriatric patients so that caution is needed in the use of these medicine.

Abstract

Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is one of the traditional medicines which has an antibacterial efficacy compound namely Allisin which is able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This study aims to formulate the garlic bulb extract into a good gel preparation for use as an acne drug and to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of the ethanol extract of garlic gel against the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus using the wells method. The gel evaluation was carried out to meet the requirements with organoleptic test parameters, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesion and irritation test. This study uses extracts of 10% and 20% concentrations, at each concentration being able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. In the formula, the concentration of 20% has a inhibition zone diameter of 1.59 cm and a concentration of 10% has a inhibition of 1.50 cm. Statistical test results using the One Way ANOVA test found that there was no significant difference between the average diameter of inhibition of garlic extract gel concentration of 10% with a concentration of 20%.

Abstract

Gaharu (Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk) is a plant of the thymelaeaceae family that is widely used by the people of West Kutai Regency as a medicinal plant for skin wounds, diabetes, asthma, stomach pain and sleep disorders, aromatherapy and used as ingredients for perfume because it has a distinctive aroma. The extraction process will determine how much yield is produced. This study aims to determine the percent (%) yield of agarwood leaf ethanol extract using maceration and reflux methods. The research stage includes plant determination, sample processing, extraction using maceration and reflux methods with 70% ethanol solvent, determination of the yield and phytochemical screening. Data analysis in the form of descriptive data analysis and presented in tabular form. The results showed that the reflux method produced a higher average yield of 30.70% and maceration method of 29.97%. Statistical test results using the Independent Sample T-Test method showed that there was no significant difference in the yield produced from the maceration and reflux method because (p> 0.05). Phytochemical screening test results showed that agarwood leaf extract contains flavonoids, tannins, saponins and steroids

Abstract

Corona virus disease (COVID-19) has become a global pandemic in the world. Indonesia has declared this pandemic as a national disaster. Positive cases and deaths have increased every day. This was a long list of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on life. Several solutions have been designed to prevent the rapid transmission of this virus, one of them was by making sterilizer and hand sanitizer products. But there was still debate regarding the effectiveness of the use of UV rays and antiseptics as hygiene products offered.So we need a study to determine the effectiveness of UV exposure and the use of antiseptics to kill germs. This study used an experimental design, the sample used was in the form of folding money taken by the bacteria and grown on the media so that were classified into 3 groups, namely without treatment, 70% alcohol treatment and 10 seconds UV light treatment. The samples were analyzed using the dilution agar method and swab test with two repetitions. The results showed the average number of colony forming units (cfu) of bacteria using the dilution test method and swab test methode were 419 cfu on without treatment group; 4 cfu on alcohol 70% ; and 150 cfu on UV light (10 seconds). The alcohol 70% was more effective than 10 seconds UV light exposure to reduce the amount of bacterial cfu on folding money.

Abstract

Coriander is a common herb can be used as traditional medicine. One of the expected benefits of Coriander fruits is an anti-cancer. This study aims to determine the cytotoxic activity of Coriander extract (Coriandrum sativum Linn) on shrimp larvae (Artemia salina Leach) with the BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) method. Coriander fruits was extracted using methanol solvent and maceration method, then concentrated it with a rotary evaporator until a thick extract. Cytotoxic activity test used methanol extract with several concentration : 1,000 ppm, 100 ppm, 10 ppm, and 1 ppm. The result of this research reveal that methanol extract of Coriander fruits has cytotoxic activity with LC50 value is 32.35 ppm.

Abstract

Microcapsules were prepared by means of microencapsulation modified by the extrusion-spheronization method. The extrusion-spheronization method is used to cover the shortcomings of the microencapsulation method. The results showed that Acryl-eze and Sureterik can be used in coatings in producing microcapsules. The results of research evaluating the formulation of enteric acetosal coated microcapsules have not resulted in delayed release system that is in accordance with monographic requirements and dissolution profile testing has not shown the elimination stage. The results of the evaluation of the delayed release release system enteric coated microcapsule formulation met the requirements of monograph and dissolution profile test results, except for F3 in buffering conditions. The purpose of this literature review is to examine the enteric-coated microcapsule formulation using Acryl-eze® & Sureteric by combining microencapsulation and spheronization extrusion methods.

Abstract

Carica papaya (Caricaceae) Linn. (CP) is a popular tropical plant which provide a huge benefit. The fruit is either delicious and healthy while other parts have a great potential medicinal properties. CP are classified as plants that have anti-microbial activity, anti oxidant, anti malaria, anti-ulcer, anti-HIV, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-hypertension, anti-fertility, anti-fungal and anti diabetic. Pharmacological activity of papaya plants related to the content of phytochemical compounds of alkaloid, flavonoid , tannin, saponin, enzyme: papain and chymopapain. These phytochemical content have been found in the young leaf, stem bark, dry seeds. Papaya leaf reveal more pharmacologycal activities because that have wide variety of phytochemical contents. In this review will be studied pharmacologycal activities of Carica papaya Linn. extract that obtained from fruit, leaf, seeds, stem bark and root. Besides, their various phytochemical contents are also described.
