Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to produce qualified seeds of forest plants, reduce sawdust waste and human sewage, providing value-added sawdust and human sewage so that it becomes more useful, reducing the use of topsoil, thereby reducing topsoil dredging. This service activity was conducted in August to October 2014 at Pulau Beringin Village, District of Pondok Kelapa, Central Bengkulu. The targets of the activity are the members of farmers and members of the youth group. The activity uses methods of counseling, training and demonstration. Making the mixture media from sawdust and humanure for growing media of community plantation forest seedling in Pulau Beringin Village is one right step in the process of sawmill waste business and household waste. Making the growing medium mixture of these wastes in addition to add to the skills of the members of farmer groups and the youth institution in managing waste can also be used as an attempt to increase the income of members of farmers and members of the youth group in the village of Pulau Beringin. Abstract

This project aims to provide knowledge, skills and facilitate the producers in improving the product quality and marketing through the improvement of product. This project was conducted by establishing demo plots to selected palm sugar producers. The activities include providing extension, workshops on processing, packaging technologies for palm sugar, entrepreneurship vision, business management, and strategic for marketing.  This project successfully introduced the suitable technologies to produce more hygienic palm sugar  with  more interesting  shape,  more  uniform in  size,  more  long-lasting  shelf-life compared to previous technologies applied by the producers.  In addition, the introduction of plastic pipe made the palm sugar sap is much more sterilized and cleaner than the bamboo-based technology and furnace modification can improve processing 48 minutes faster than before and save energy up to 23 %. Although the introduced technology to process the palm sugar did not change the nutrients content, the product quality met the SNI standards. The introduced techniques also prolong the shelf life from 24 days to 126 days. There was not any difference in terms of selling prices to both products.  However, the price of alternative product (powdery brown sugar) was almost 4 times higher than the traditional products (block palm sugar). Keywords: Processing, size, shape, packaging, quality, and marketing

Abstract

ABSTRACTCommunity service activities are conducted by education and training. The ultimate goal is to use home land for lele cultivation in portable pond for increasing household income. The realization of the purpose is carried out with provision of knowledge and skills in making portable pond using mild steel and tarpaulin. Portable ponds have several advantages such as can be applied to areas with less water, more stable water temperature, and easy harvesting of fish. The results of the dedication activities showed a satisfying response in which participants had high enthusiasm in increasing their knowledge and skills in making portable pond for lele culviation. The success of the activities can also be seen from the innovation of the community through suggestions for making hydroponic based vegetable cultivation systems by utilizing water in portable ponds. Generally, initiation of lele culviation in portable pond can be done in home land.  Keywords: portable media, fish cultivation, catfish

Abstract

In addressing the problem of poverty, the media also has a very important role. Inaddition, with media, especially the internet, we can find out information about theweather and the sea and fishing information globally accessible. Further explained thatthe resources of this example is FIGIS (fisheries global information system) that provides arange of statistical information such as fisheries, fish distribution maps by species, issueand topic of the actual fisheries, aquaculture, marine fisheries, and fishing technology. Thedata is available anytime and anywhere needed. Based on the background is exactly theservice activities based on this urgent research to be conducted. The activity goal is toprovide knowledge for women and families of fishermen on the media, especially theInternet and equip the women and families of fishermen to learn new media like theinternet. The target audience of the utilization of the internet is for girls and coastal fishingfamilies who live in the city of Bengkulu Malabero coastal areas totaling 10 people whohave a product that can be sold in the market. Abstract

The main problem in the people’s rubber in the village of Genting Perangkap and Lubuk Balam, Air Besi, North Bengkulu is a fungal disease that attacks the roots of plants. White root fungus disease (JAP) cause of death in rubber, so that the disease attacks resulted in significant losses. Based on field survey team PPM to land smallholder rubber of Genting Perangkap and Lubuk Balam Village, many found the plants spaces are very close, the stump of a dead rubber tree attacked JAP left alone on the land, and the plants die immediately replaced with new seedlings without eradicate exhausted dead tree stump by JAP. As a result of this new plant will die after the age of 2 years or more, since contracted directly by the fungi Rigidoporus microporus that cause disease JAP from the ground and fungal spores contained in the rubber tree stumps that had not been cleaned. To help the problems of rubber farmers in the village of Genting Perangkap and Lubuk Balam, it is necessary to control training and extension activities of white root fungus disease (JAP) on smallholder rubber plant with a fungicide biological antagonist fungus Trichoderma spp. and the efforts of former rubber plantation land processing stricken JAP. The method used is counseling, training, and applications directly to the field. Having done this activity then: Service target communities have been able to recognize the early symptoms of fungal disease attacks the roots of white, rubber plant spacing was good, as well as the handling of the former rubber plantation land that was attacked by JAP. Target communities have learned how to control the disease by using the JAP antagonist fungus Trichoderma spp. Target communities already have the expertise and is able to reproduce itself Trichoderma spp. and how the application of the newly planted crops, and plants attacked JAP. Abstract

Initial identification results to the MGMP Indonesian Bengkulu city, it is known that the main problem faced by most teachers is the difficulty to meet Minister of Manpower No. 16 of 2009 and Minister of Education Number 3/V/PB/2010 regarding the obligation of teachers to have publication of scientific papers if want to propose promotion from class 3A. This devotion activity is an effort to overcome the problem. The motives performed in this devotion are lectures, discussions and exercises. Based on hail training, it is known that there is an increase of trainee knowledge on the aspect of understanding on the structure and technique of writing scientific papers by 43%, scientific writing writing tips by 49%, reference information on scientific writing as much as 70% and information about 77% publication. Keywords: training, scientific work, MGMP

Abstract

The events have been held in farmer Group Manggala Curup Village and farmer Group Melati Siguring Village, Sub-district North Curup, District Rejang Lebong. Most of farmers in Curup Village and Seguring Village, Sub -district North Curup, plant vegetable plants in monoculture and do not us e a good quality of seed. Farmers have good potential to improve the result and the income with avoiding crop failures or the plummeted of market price. These things will be able to be covered by other plants that can be obtained with intensive use of land by using multiple copping to vegetable plants that have high economy and use of good quality of seeds. The purpose of doing training are (1) farmer group has knowledge about intensification of land using multiple cropping and good quality of seeds (2) farmers are able to be producer of seeds in order to decrease the cost incurred in the next growing season and increace the income. The methods that will be used in training are (1) counselling and education about the agriculture of multiple cropping, good quality of seed, and the way to get good quality of seeds (2) production of demonstration plot (demplot) trial to apply multiple cropping and good quality of seeds. (3) Mentoring system of farmer group. The result of the activity is being able to improve insight of farmer, in the terms of intensification land by using multiple cropping and good quality of seeds. Besides that, farmers can produce their own seeds to the next growing season. The income of farmers in multiple cropping systems of vegetable plants will be higher if it is compared with monoculture system.Keywords: vegetable plant, multiple cropping, good quality of seed

Abstract

One of the demands of the output of students learning in junior secondary shool, especially in mathematics was the ability to think at a higher level. Some students still had difficulty in solving mathematical  problems based  HOTS because of students not familiar with the problems. So it was  necessary to conduct training for mathematics teachers in preparing HOTS mathematical instruments and applying it in the form of computer-based tests using macromedia flash. The participants of the  training  were 30  secondary mathematics teachers the members of subject teachers  forum (MGMP)  that  consisted  of teachers of public and private junior scondary schools in Bengkulu City. The results of the training activities obtained 40 multiple choice questions from the results of the development of HOTS mathematical instruments. The instrument consisted of each 20 questions for grade  VII and grade VIII. The participants' responses to the training showed that the increasing  knowledge of the particpants, where the average knowledge of the participants was 35, and the post-test results showed that the increasing  knowledge of the participants in  preparing  HOTS instruments with an average was 62.75. The results of the development of the instrument had met the criteria of valid, reliable, discrimination index,  and difficulty levels. The 40 items of HOTS  instruments that developed were applied in Macromedia flash software.

Abstract

This training is motivated by the needs of the 2013 curriculum for thematic teaching practices which contain subjects of SBDP in the field of fine arts at primary school level. This activity aims to improve the competence of classroom teachers both theoretically and practically in makingof artwork using collage, montage and mosaic techniques. The method used is training and mentoring. Data collection techniques are observations to describe the process of collage, montage, and mosaic works and the implementation of collage, montage and mosaic learning in the classroom and tests to measure teacher knowledge (pretest and posttest). The results of this activity show that teachers can follow the process of training and practice, and the results of pretest and post-test show an increase only 17.65% of teachers who can get value of ? 60 during the pretest, then increase to 73.53% of teachers are able to get value of ? 60 at post-test. The conclusion is this activity can increase the knowledge of the target teacher in terms of both theoretical and practice.Keywords: artwork, collage, mosaic, montage

Abstract

IbM community service aims to help villagers to make coconut drying machine. This dryer can help people in the processing a crops product with high water content quality, hygienic, short time and are not dependent on climate or weather. This machine mechanism can help the farmers in processing coconut plantations product, especially in the process of drying the crop so that sale value of dried coconut is high and incomes become increase. In the previous drying method, the coconut is drying by the open system where as the method is dependent on natural and climatic conditions. This is very detrimental to the community because of losses in terms of drying time, the water quality and higyenis product is low and other unsecured cause dry oil prices to be low. By using a drying machine the drying time is shorter, water content and quality of drying can be controlled and hygiene will also be maintained. Increased levels of water quality and hygiene product drying will make the selling price of coconut increases. Increased selling prices will impact on people's incomes so that the welfare of society for the better copra producer. In addition to the increase in people's income, it is a national issue of poverty alleviation, employment generation and application of new technology-based products in the country will be met. This community service is done at the Village Pasar Pedati and Village Harapan District of Pondok Kelapa through training how to make the dryer machine so that people can make this tool in order to increase their income as both a producer of copra with maintained quality as well and the creator of this drying machine. From the results of devotion performed shows that the people be able to make the dryer machine with a drying time of wet coconut weighing 1.4 kg to 1 kg within 7 hours, the water content of 40% decreased to 28% and an average temperature of 65ºC. Keywords: dried coconut drier machine, solar energy
