Abstract

A person's ability to perform motor movement tasks based on his awareness and psychological state is always interesting to discuss. This also applies to basketball sports activities in the school environment both within the scope of physical education and extracurricular activities. This research aims to accurately determine the relationship between cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety, and self-confidence with the results of the free throw shot in basketball. The population of this study was basketball student-athletes totaling 42 people, 24 men and 20 women (± 17 years old), and this research study was conducted after school time ended. The instrument used in this research was the form of questionnaire to measure the level of anxiety with the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2) questionnaire created by Martens, Vealey, and Burton (1990) which consists of 27 questions including Cognitive State Anxiety, Somatic State Anxiety, and Self-Confidence. The research data results were then processed using descriptive and inferential correlational statistical techniques. The research results show that the cognitive anxiety and free throw, and the somatic anxiety and free throw both correlation test results have an insignificant value with the correlation data obtained as of p .471 and p .661. The results of the correlation test between self-confidence and free throw have an insignificant value with correlation data results p .642, all the correlation tests are within the significance level of ?.05.This study shows that there is a relationship between cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety, and self-confidence regarding the results of free throw shooting in basketball, but there is no significant relationship between cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety, and self-confidence towards the results of free throw shot.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) model on manipulative movement at SDN Johar Baru 13 Central Jakarta. This approach encourages active involvement, decision making, and understanding of game tactics that directly hone students' motor skills. The research method used was Quasi Experiment with One Group Pre-test–post-test design. The sample in this study was 32 students who were determined through total sampling techniques. The data collection instrument used an observation rubric used to assess the competence of basic manipulative movement skills in the form of initial and final tests accompanied by aspects assessed in the assessment rubric, namely throwing, catching, hitting, dribbling, and kicking. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the paired sample t-test. The results of the data study showed that the average pre-test score was 7.719 and increased to 9.125 at the time of the post-test. The paired t-test produced a significance value of 0.004 (p <0.05), which indicated that there was a significant effect after treatment was given. Thus, the learning approach using the TGFU model is achieved in improving students' motor skills, especially in students' manipulative movements in elementary schools. This study supports changes in learning strategies that are carried out repetitively and boringly towards more adaptive and flexible learning in PJOK subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interest of the Tabalong Regency community in the recreational sport of gateball, focusing on external (social support and facilities) and internal (knowledge, skills, and physical condition) factors. The research method used a quantitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through questionnaires distributed to 16 espondents. The results showed that community interest in gateball was in the moderate to high category, with external factors contributing 37.5% and internal factors such as physical condition reaching 43.75%. However, the community's knowledge and skills are still diverse, with an even distribution in the low, medium, and high categories (31.25% each). These findings indicate that increasing interest in exercise requires a holistic approach, including the provision of adequate facilities, education and community strengthening. The limitations of this study lie in the limited number of samples and have not examined cultural/local factors, so further research is recommended to broaden the scope of respondents and explore additional aspects that may be influential. With the implementation of the right strategy, gateball sports have great potential to develop as a popular recreational activity in Tabalong Regency This study recommends collaboration between the government, sport players, and the community to increase participation in the sport of gateball.

Abstract

This quantitative study investigates the effectiveness of transforming traditional games into innovative instructional media to enhance elementary school students’ learning motivation in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK). Utilizing a one-group pretest–posttest design, the research was conducted with 40 fifth-grade students at SD Nurul Ulum, Surabaya, during the 2024/2025 academic year. The intervention comprised five PJOK sessions integrating modified versions of gobak sodor, boy-boyan, benteng-bentengan, and lari balok. Motivation was measured using a 29-item questionnaire, which demonstrated excellent reliability (? = 0.90). Data analysis via SPSS included tests for normality (Kolmogorov–Smirnov, Shapiro–Wilk) and a one-sample t-test for pre- and post-intervention scores. Results revealed a significant increase in motivation, with mean scores rising from 70.18 (SD = 3.67) to 89.33 (SD = 2.96), p < 0.05. This implies that the enjoyable, collaborative, and culturally contextual nature of transformed traditional games effectively fosters intrinsic motivation and supports culturally relevant pedagogy. The study concludes that integrating traditional games into PJOK is a viable innovative method to boost student motivation, preserve local cultural values, and enrich learning experiences. This result strengthens the urgency of integrating local culture in elementary school learning, as well as being a concrete step in supporting the Merdeka Learning policy that emphasizes the meaningfulness, diversity, and relevance of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the success of learning volleyball lower passing using a modified ball made from sponge for fifth grade students of SDN Bangsri Sukodono. A quantitative research method with a two-group pretest and posttest design was used, dividing the subjects into experimental (sponge ball) and control (regular volleyball) groups. The research instrument was a lower passing test with an indicator of directing the ball within 60 seconds. Results showed a significant effect of using sponge balls (significance value of 0.000) compared to regular balls (0.056), proving their effectiveness in increasing student success. In addition, sponge balls are also considered safer and more comfortable to use, thus supporting a more optimal learning process. In conclusion, sponge balls not only overcome facility limitations, but also increase interest in learning, reduce the risk of injury, and encourage active student participation, making them an effective alternative for learning basic volleyball techniques in elementary schools. These findings support sponge ball as a safe, cheap, and effective learning medium, while reducing the risk of injury. It is recommended that coaches and students implement training programs using sponge balls while still paying attention to the principles of training according to player characteristics.

Abstract

Small-sided games (SSG) are one of the training methods used by coaches to stimulate the technical, tactical, and physical components of futsal players. This study aims to determine the effect of small-sided games (SSG) training with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on improving VO2 Max among futsal extracurricular students at SMAN 15 Garut. The issue addressed in this study is the suboptimal endurance level of many students involved in the futsal extracurricular program. The research used an experimental method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 20 students. VO2Max measurements were conducted using the Bleep Test, a standard method for assessing aerobic capacity. Before the training program commenced, all participants underwent the Bleep Test to obtain baseline VO2Max values (pretest). The small-sided games training program was implemented over 14 sessions, with training frequency set at three times a week.  Data analysis involved normality, homogeneity, and t-test, yielding a significant value of (p = 0.000) < 0.05, indicating a significant increase in VO2 Max with an average post-test value of 39.720. These findings confirm that SSG training with HIIT can effectively improve cardiovascular endurance in high school futsal players. The high-intensity small-sided games training method had a significant effect on improving VO2Max in these students.
