Abstract

A differentiated learning approach is one way to realize the concept of Merdeka Curriculum. In its application, there are discrepancies that have an impact on meeting the learning needs of students. Therefore, a self-reflection step is needed to find the discrepancies that occur. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interviews, and documentation on two practicing teachers and a master teacher at SMPN 14 Malang. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman technique through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The interview results showed that the implementation of content, process, and product differentiation was not perfect due to the short tenure of the practicing teacher, poor planning, and misunderstanding of the differentiation concept. Observations showed that the learning atmosphere was not conducive, and students' enthusiasm was low. This study found weaknesses in differentiated learning planning and suggested expanding learning media, improving teaching techniques, and mapping students' learning needs through self-reflection.

Abstract

Promiscuity is abnormal or deviant behavior that threatens the future of the nation's children. Many factors influence promiscuous behavior, including weak religious values, a disharmonious family environment, very low self-control, minimal awareness of the dangers of promiscuity, and unhealthy lifestyles. The family, as the first school for teenage children, plays a very vital role in preventing promiscuity by instilling the values of tauhid in the family environment. Tauhid education is often considered as spiritual intelligence and a fundamental character trait for every Muslim. With the protection provided by strong tauhid education, it becomes a shield or weapon against the dangers of promiscuity. This research is a qualitative design, involving the review of books, scientific works, popular works, and other literature related to the theme studied. The research addresses the concept of tauhid education and how it is instilled in families to deal with promiscuity. The findings indicate that the concept of tauhid education comprises three interrelated criteria (mutualistic symbiosis) that cannot be separated: Tauhid Rububiyah, Tauhid Uluhiyah, and Tauhid al-Hakimiyyah. The methods used to instill tauhid education in the family include five approaches: tauhid, example, habituation, advice, and supervision.

Abstract

One of the key elements of the Merdeka Curriculum is the implementation of essential materials, which are deemed crucial and must be delivered to students. However, limited research has focused on essential materials within social studies subjects. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct an in-depth analysis of how teachers apply essential materials in social studies. Based on this need, the objective of this study is to analyze the selection of essential materials by social studies teachers using a differentiated approach, as proposed by Carol Tomlinson. This research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, gathering secondary data sources relevant to the research topic. The data consists of journal articles from 2019 to 2024, retrieved using Harzing's Publish or Perish software. The subjects of this study are high school social studies teachers, with a focus on their practices in teaching essential materials. The findings reveal that teachers have selected essential materials that are both relevant and engaging for students. This is evidenced by the use of learning media that resonates with students' daily lives, as well as digital-based teaching methods such as problem-based learning (PBL), gamification, and field studies. As a result, students are able to easily grasp the material, enhancing their motivation, conceptual understanding, and engagement in the learning process.

Abstract

In the context of the development of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia, this study highlights the importance of understanding how cultural values are reflected in Indonesian language learning at the high school level. The research method used is descriptive using qualitative analysis to explore the integration of local culture and the use of local languages in the “Cerdas Cergas Berbahasa dan Bersastra Indonesia” textbook for grades X, XI, and XII. The findings show that the adoption of folklore, customs and local languages in the curriculum not only enhances students' understanding of Indonesia's cultural heritage, but also provides a rich and meaningful learning experience. As such, this integration provides a strong national identity for students and reinforces a sense of pride in the nation's culture. This research makes an important contribution to understanding how education can be an effective vehicle for enriching and maintaining cultural diversity in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article examines professional development through the lens of trioethnographic reflections to enhance student-centered teaching practices. Trioethnography, derived from duoethnography, is a qualitative research method where two or more researchers engage in reflective dialogue to explore an issue. We collected data through four reflective conversations, guided by faculty advisors, during our teaching practicum. Our analysis identified three key themes from these dialogues: (1) reexamining our beliefs about student-centered instruction, (2) recognizing sociocultural barriers to this approach, and (3) sharing experiences of relearning teaching methods. These conversations created a safe space to exchange insights and collaboratively build understanding. The findings have significant implications for teachers and teacher education. First, teachers must continually reassess the beliefs and assumptions that underpin their teaching. Second, understanding students more deeply is crucial for effectively implementing student-centered teaching, especially in EFL contexts. Third, preservice teacher education should emphasize the importance of self-reflection and critical examination of teaching beliefs, fostering both personal and professional growth. Lastly, future research should narrow its focus on specific practical issues within student-centered EFL teaching to further enrich the field and improve teaching practices. Collaborative reflection should become a routine part of teacher education programs to better prepare future educators.
