Abstract

Pottery is one of the traditional handicrafts made of clay that is shaped in such a way and then heated until it becomes hard. This clay pottery forming game can help children's imagination to make a desired object from clay play. This study aims to determine the fine motor development of children through pottery playing activities. The research method applied in writing this article is qualitative method. The results of this study confirm the importance of paying attention to children's fine motor development, especially by parents and teachers. Fine motor development, which involves coordinating small muscles in movements such as writing and buttoning a shirt, is essential for everyday tasks. One effective method to support fine motor development is through the medium of play, especially the manufacture of pottery from clay. This activity not only improves fine motor skills, but also develops the child's creativity and sensory experience. Clay manipulation requires precise hand movements, which strengthen eye-hand coordination and dexterity. In addition, working with clay encourages children to use their imagination, provides rich sensory stimulation, and allows emotional expression through art. To integrate pottery activities into early childhood education, teachers and parents can introduce structured pottery sessions, provide free playtime, incorporate thematic projects, encourage collaborative projects, and showcase children's work to celebrate their achievements. Thus, the use of clay in early childhood learning becomes a fun and effective way to support fine motor development and other aspects of development.

Abstract

The use of more than one language in everyday life is common in many families around the world. Children are often exposed to more than one language from an early age. Multilingualism, also called bilingualism, refers to a person's ability to communicate in two or more languages. This study aims to analyze the impact of multilingual use on speech development in children aged 4-5 years. Researchers will explore the positive or negative impacts, as well as factors that can moderate the results. The method used in this study is qualitative. The type of research used is a case study. The results of this study show that the use of multilingual (Indonesian, Javanese, and English) in the daily lives of children aged 4-5 years has both positive and negative impacts. The positive impacts include improving cognitive abilities and social skills, as well as readiness to face the times. However, some children experience confusion and speech delays. Significant supporting factors are a supportive school environment with structured and interactive teaching methods, as well as the consistent role of parents in language habituation at home. The influence of social media also motivates parents to teach foreign languages, especially English. Therefore, the right approach and support from the school environment and parents is essential in optimizing the benefits of multilingualism for children's language development.

Abstract

This research explores the impact of rewards and punishments in the educational context, focusing on meeting students' needs based on Abraham Maslow's hierarchy. The aim of this study is to understand how physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization needs are addressed through the provision of rewards and punishments. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The data comprises case book documents on regulations and FGI (Forum Group Interview). Data collection techniques involve document studies conducted to obtain an overview of rewards and punishments and their causative factors. Data analysis techniques use Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings of this research indicate that students are motivated in learning through the presence of rewards and punishments. The provision of rewards and punishments is based on students' needs according to Abraham Maslow's basic hierarchy of needs, which is divided into several levels including physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs. Maslow's basic needs are appropriately addressed in the provision of rewards. However, some of these needs are not well met in the findings on punishments. Being wise in giving rewards and punishments becomes a way to ensure that the reinforcement objectives are on target and motivate students.

Abstract

Living Value Education is an educational approach that encourages the formation of good attitudes and behavior so that they become habits and later these habits can revive life values. The aim of this research is to determine the implementation of Living Values Education through religious activities carried out in elementary schools in Southwest Papua Province, along with supporting and inhibiting factors. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The results of the research show that there are six Living Value Education values that are implemented through religious activities in the Southwest Papua Provincial Private Elementary School, namely religion, honesty, humility, cooperation, responsibility and tolerance. There are two supporting factors, namely, support from the school community and having sufficient gazebo facilities. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors and solutions are that there are several students who are still late when praying in congregation. The solution is for the teacher to accompany them from behind so that other students are not as solemn in praying and the teacher scolds students who are still playing while praying. Second, the lack of space in the gazebo is not enough to accommodate all students for prayer. Solution: Congregational prayer is divided into two, where some students pray in the classroom and some pray in the gazebo.
