Fokus publishes original research or theoretical papers about teaching and learning in Guidance and Counseling study program of IKIP Siliwangi Bandung on current science issues, namely: Guidance and Counseling educator in elementary, secondary and high school level. Guidance and Counseling observers and researchers. Educational decisions maker on regional and national level. We recommend classroom action research, qualitative, descriptive, or quantitative. We may process manuscript of didactic development research (DDR) or research and development (RnD). Our publication could be research on teaching method, an experiment of teaching aid or media, and even effectiveness of lesson study. We accepted any manuscript derived from research of Guidance and Counseling in Indonesia. We will not process manuscript from research approach of school management.

Abstract

 Career guidance services in SMP are a type of service to assist students in determining their choice of secondary school according to the wishes of these students, career guidance services aim to make students adapt in choosing the desired school. This study aims to find out about the implementation of career guidance services conducted by counseling teachers to grade IX students at SMP Negeri 3 Padalarang. The approach used by researchers is qualitative, with descriptive research type, data collection is done by means of interviews and observations. The subjects in this study were counseling teachers who held class IX. The results of the research found that grade IX students at SMP Negeri 3 Padalarang can be helped by the implementation of career guidance services provided by BK teachers, BK teachers use modules so that students have knowledge about education, the field of work, the field of personal and social development so that students can learn about the environment and can plan his life independently. There are still students who are less enthusiastic because the service material is monotonous.Keywords: Career Guidance, Student Junior High School

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of the emotional intelligence of students at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Kadungora. The approach taken is quantitative. The quantitative approach is a systematic scientific research method using statistical data analysis, namely using mathematical models, theories and / or hypotheses related to phenomenon, both in parts and in their relationships. The research sample consisted of 37 grade X students of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Kadungora who had low emotional intelligence, namely 30 students. This is indicated by an attitude of disappointment, anger, hatred and so on, if left alone, it will affect the health of adolescent personalities. Especially students become unable to process their emotional intelligence. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and observations. Based on the results of questionnaires and field research, it was concluded that the description of emotional intelligence of class X SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Kadungora students could affect the level of student learning progress.Keywords: Emotional Intellegence, Students

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine whether there was a relationship between Truancy behavior and emotional maturity in VIII graders of Asshiddiqiyah Middle School. The research method used was a correlational quantitative research method with 52 research samples. The data analysis technique was carried out by the correlational test with the help of SPSS 22. Based on the results of the study through the correlational test, the product moment obtained produced a negative relationship between emotional associated with ditching VIII grade students of Asshiddiqiyah Middle School with marks (2 tailed) of 0,000 and r -0,583 . Higher grades mean higher maturity of students, so it is better for more choices than studentsKeywords: Emotional Maturity, Truancy Behavior.

Abstract

The current condition of the pandemic Covid-19 has caused the government to implemented online learning. Students are required to be able adapted the new conditions, namely learning through online media that can help students learn during the pandemic Covid-19. The purposed of this study was to described the factors causing academic procrastination of class XI IPS 5 students at SMAN 1 Batujajar during the pandemic Covid-19. This research used descriptive qualitative method.  The data collection techniques used such as interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the results of the research, the factors that cause academic procrastination to the four students, students do not understand the material presented by the teacher, students are not confident in their abilities, students are not able to manage time to do assignments with other activities, students feel bored because of online learning at home, lack of attention and encouragement of motivation to learn from parents, and constraints on signals, handphone, internet quotas.Keywords: Pandemic Covid-19, Academic Procrastination

Abstract

This research aims to describe the level of career maturity of learners at SMA Negeri 1 Cibeber high school. The approach to this research is through quantitative approaches through descriptive methods. The data collection in this study used career maturity instruments based on the theory of Sciarra D. T in the form of likert-scale questionnaires adapted from previous research. Sampling techniques in this study used proportional random sampling technique through the slovin formula, so that it could be sampled as many as 106 learners. The results showed that the level of career maturity of learners in SMA Negeri 1 Cibeber high school in the low category was as many as 17 learners with a percentage of 16%, in the moderate category as many as 69 learners with a percentage of 65%, and in the high category, as many as 20 learners with a percentage of 19%. Meanwhile, when viewed by gender, male learners in the low category had as many as 10 learners with a percentage of 9%, in the moderate category, as many as 31 learners with a percentage of 29%, and in the high categories, as many as 6 learners with a percentage of 6%. While female learners in the low category as many as 7 learners with a percentage of 7%, in the moderate category as many as 38 learners with a percentage of 36%, and in the high category as many as 14 learners with a percentage of 13%. Based on the overall data, students of SMA Negeri 1 Cibeber high school have a picture of career maturity in the moderate category, meaning that the career maturity of learners is at a fairly good stage. Learners are able to plan, explore, and are able to make career decisions. Keywords: : Career Maturity, High School Students

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the idea of the achievement motivation of educated person VII grade at SMP Negeri 2 Karangpawitan Garut. Achievement motivation is influenced by intrinsic factors and extrinsic factors. Intrinsic factors are factors that come from within the individual, such as  curiosity, challenge and effort. But extrinsic factors are those that come from outside the individual, such a reward and punishment. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivations play a crucial role in encouraging individuals to achieve. The approach in this research is a quantitative approach with a quantitative descriptive research type. The research sample was 54 students of grade VII. Methods of data collection using a scale of achievement motivation. Based on the research results, it is known that the achievement motivation of class VII students is generally in the moderate achievement motivation category. However, the achievement motivation profile based on gender found that the achievement motivation of female students was better than the achievement motivation of male students. Keywords: Achievement Motivation, Students.

Abstract

Research on the relationship of self efficacy and reading ability of students in grade III SD 1 Suci Kaler supports understanding the relationship between self efficacy and reading ability. The research method uses quantitative correlational. Data collection in this study uses self efficacy questionnaires and secondary data on students' reading skills scores. The study population was all students of class III SD 1 Suci Kaler with a research sample of 52 people. The data analysis technique used is the correlational hypothesis test with the product moment test with the help of the SPSS 22 application. Based on the results of the study related to the relationship of self efficacy and reading skills of third grade students of SD 1 Suci Kaler with a correlation value of 0.403, it can be interpreted between self efficacy and skills reading grade III students at SD 1 Suci Kaler is positive, meaning that if self-efficacy can increase, students' reading skills will immediately increase. The level of conversation between self-efficacy and reading skills of third grade students at SD 1 Suci Kaler depends on the medium category.Keywords:  Self-efficacy, reading skills.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the current pandemic condition which affects the implementation of guidance and counseling services, especially career guidance services for students of SMK Nuurul Muttaqiin, where currently students experience confusion in career choices and decisions. This is aimed at the results of observations to students of SMK Nuurul Muttaqiin class XII, during this pandemic they have difficulty in determining the appropriate choice of work and choice of university majors because they do not get optimal and direct guidance from counselors or counselors. The form of efforts made in counseling guidance services to provide students with understanding of career maturity, namely through career guidance services. This research was conducted with a qualitative research approach. The data collected in this study are data obtained by means of interviews, observation and documentation study. The subjects in this study were five students who had difficulties in determining careers after graduating from vocational school and BK coordinators. The form of career counseling services at SMK Nuurul Muttaqiin begins with several stages, namely classical guidance, group guidance, and individual counseling.Keywords: career guidance, career maturity.

Abstract

This research is motivated by students who have low social skills. The behavior shown by these students is difficult to interact with peers, unable to manage skills in dealing with stress, unable to understand other people's feelings, and from an academic point of view it will decline. Efforts were made to overcome these problems, namely by using a group guidance service strategy through discussion techniques carried out online through the zoom meeting application. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of group discussion techniques on social skills in students at the SMK (Vocational High School) level. This study uses an approach by collecting data in the form of questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The subjects in this study were six students and one BK teacher. The results of this study indicate that after the implementation of the discussion technique there were changes shown by the students. So it can be said that the implementation of the discussion technique in the group guidance strategy can be used on the social skills of class XI students at SMK Negeri 1 Cihampelas.Keywords: Discussion Techniques, Zoom Metting Applications, Social Skills

Abstract

Work readiness is a person's condition including physical, mental and experience maturity marked by the ability and willingness to carry out an activity at work. Students if they have work readiness can be absorbed in the world of work and have good work motivation. The method used is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach and the subjects in this study were students of SMK Negeri Cihampelas, West Bandung City. Determination of the sample size taken using the Slovin formula as many as 132 students. The data collection technique used in this study is proportional random sampling, it is intended that each population in the class can be represented. To obtain objective and scientifically accountable data, the collection method The data used is a job readiness questionnaire that has been tested for 48 items. The results showed that the work readiness of students was in the medium category. Where those who have work readiness are in the medium category of 68.94% (91 students), participants with high motivation are 16.67% (22 students) while students with low categories are 14.39% (19 students). It was concluded that most students had good work readiness, such as having logical and objective considerations, the ability and willingness to work, having the courage to take responsibility, the ability to adapt to the environment, especially the work environment.Keywords: : Work Readiness, Students, Vocational
