Abstract

The main problem in this study is the low ability of students in writing stories, which occurs because the implementation in the learning process still tends to use a conventional approach. Teachers mostly apply the lecture method, making learning seem more monotonous. As a result, students' writing skills are not well honed. Teachers often only give writing assignments with little explanation about the rules of good and correct writing, so that students' creativity and imagination are limited. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of animated films on the story writing skills of fifth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darul Istiqamah Puce'e, Sinjai Regency. The type of research used in this study is a pre-experimental design, which is a type of research that only involves one experimental class without a comparison group. The research design is a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The pretest is given before the treatment, and the posttest is given after the treatment. The sample in this study consists of fifth-grade students, comprising 1 male student and 10 female students. Data collection techniques were conducted using tests and observations. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive and inferential statistical data analysis (t-test). Descriptive statistics show that the average score for story writing skills before the use of animated films was 60.81. Meanwhile, the average score for story writing skills after the use of animated films was 92.90. This shows that there was a difference in students' story writing skills before and after the use of animated films in learning. The t-test analysis results show that the t-count = 12.01 and t-table = 2.228, so t-count = 12.01 > t-table 2.228, which means H1 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that animated film media is effective in improving the story writing skills of fifth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Darul Istiqamah Puce'e, Sinjai Regency.

Abstract

At the elementary school level, teaching antonyms can be tedious and involve rote memorization, leading to boredom, lack of enthusiasm, and difficulty remembering and using words. This study explores the effectiveness of the Wordwall platform in improving antonym understanding among elementary school students. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach based on a literature review, using data from leading journals, both national and international. Through a library study approach, scientific journal literature was used as a reference for the last year of publication in 2023–2025. The analysis was conducted through content analysis, which began with data identification, coding, interpretation, and drawing conclusions. The research findings indicate that Wordwall has a positive influence on antonym learning by increasing student motivation, engagement, and focus, as well as strengthening memory and conceptual understanding through fun and repetitive activities. The success of Wordwall is largely determined by the teacher's role in designing materials and connecting additional activities. Thus, Wordwall proves to be an effective and appropriate digital learning tool for elementary school students. Keywords: Wordwall, Elementary School, Antonym Learning, Indonesia

Abstract

The improvement of Early Childhood Education (ECE) quality is strongly influenced by the quality of school leadership and teacher professionalism. Instructional leadership is viewed as a leadership approach oriented toward learning processes and the development of teachers’ capacities, while ECE teacher professionalism encompasses pedagogical, personal, social, and professional competencies that are integrally reflected in instructional practice. This article aims to analyze the integration of instructional leadership and the strengthening of ECE teacher professionalism based on a review of recent literature. The method employed is a literature review of scholarly articles, books, and relevant policy documents published within the last ten years. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic approach to identify patterns of relationships, integrative practices, and research gaps. The findings indicate that adaptive, collaborative, and data-driven instructional leadership plays a significant role in enhancing ECE teacher professionalism through continuous academic supervision, internal professional development, and the cultivation of reflective and collaborative school cultures. ECE teacher professionalism is determined not only by technical competencies but also by personal attributes and the ability to build educational relationships with children, parents, and the broader school community. The integration of instructional leadership and teacher professionalism forms a sustainable learning ecosystem oriented toward the holistic development of children. This review provides a conceptual contribution to the improvement of ECE quality and may serve as a foundation for empirical research and policy formulation in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study examines the contributions of Muslim scholars to the development of science and technology from the medieval period to the modern era, the intellectual learning traditions that supported scientific advancement, and the factors contributing to the decline of scientific productivity in the Muslim world. Using a qualitative descriptive and historical approach, this research analyzes the roles of prominent Muslim figures such as Ibn al-Haytham in optics, Al-Khawarizmi in mathematics, Al-Zahrawi in medicine, Al-Farabi in philosophy, as well as modern scientists including Abdus Salam, Ahmed Zewail, and Maryam Mirzakhani. The results indicate that Islamic civilization played a significant role in establishing the foundations of modern science through rational, empirical, and systematic methodologies rooted in the Islamic worldview, which integrates faith, ethics, and knowledge. Scientific activities were understood as acts of worship aimed at achieving human welfare. However, the decline of Muslim scientific contributions was influenced by political instability, weakened educational institutions, intellectual stagnation, colonial domination, the dichotomy between religious and secular sciences, and the limited development of research culture. This study highlights the importance of revitalizing an integrative and ethical Islamic scientific tradition to strengthen the development of science and technology within contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

Background: Spinal anesthesia is widely used in orthopedic surgery, particularly in open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) procedures for femoral fractures. However, hypotension remains the most common complication due to sympathetic nerve blockade, which may compromise patient safety, especially in elderly patients. The use of adjuvant agents such as epinephrine combined with bupivacaine is expected to reduce the required dose of local anesthetic and improve hemodynamic stability. Objective: This study aimed to describe the incidence of hypotension in patients with closed femoral fractures undergoing ORIF under spinal anesthesia using bupivacaine alone compared to bupivacaine combined with epinephrine as an adjuvant. Methods: This study employed a double-blind randomized controlled trial design. A total of five ASA II patients undergoing ORIF surgery were included. Three patients received isobaric bupivacaine 20 mg combined with epinephrine 0.2 mg, while two patients received isobaric bupivacaine 20 mg alone. Hemodynamic parameters, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation, were monitored intraoperatively. Hypotension was defined as a decrease in mean arterial pressure (MAP) greater than 20% from baseline. Results: Hypotension occurred in three out of five patients (60%). Patients receiving bupivacaine with epinephrine tended to experience delayed onset of hypotension compared to those receiving bupivacaine alone. Elderly patients showed a higher incidence of hypotension, suggesting age as a contributing risk factor. Conclusion: The use of epinephrine as an adjuvant to bupivacaine in spinal anesthesia may provide better hemodynamic stability during ORIF surgery in patients with femoral fractures, particularly in those at risk of cardiovascular complications

Abstract

Mohammad Hatta's ideological thinking is one of the important foundations in formulating the direction of ideology and development of the Indonesian nation. Hatta did not position himself as an extreme ideology of liberalism or socialism-communism, but rather formulated a middle path rooted in the values of the people, social justice, and human morality. This article aims to analyze Mohammad Hatta's ideological philosophy and examine the fundamental differences between his thinking and the ideologies of liberalism and socialism-communism in the Indonesian context. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method on Bung Hatta's works and relevant contemporary scientific articles from the past five years. The results of the study show that Hatta criticized liberalism for its tendency to give rise to social inequality due to the dominance of individualism and free market mechanisms, while socialism-communism was criticized for denying individual freedom and potentially giving rise to state totalitarianism. As an alternative, Hatta offered the concept of people's democracy and a cooperative economy that balances individual and collective interests. Hatta's ideological philosophy positions the state as a regulator that ensures social justice, not as an absolute ruler or facilitator of a free market. Thus, Bung Hatta's thinking represents a uniquely Indonesian ideology that is relevant as a reference in addressing the challenges of social inequality and sustainable development in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of the national Islamic education curriculum within the framework of the Merdeka curriculum, focusing on the aspects of relevance, implementation, and evaluation. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method through the review of educational policy documents, Islamic education learning outcomes, and relevant and up-to-date scholarly literature. Data analysis is conducted using content analysis to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the paradigm shift in the Islamic education curriculum. The findings indicate that the Islamic education curriculum under the Merdeka curriculum has strong relevance to the needs of twenty-first-century learners, particularly in strengthening character, religious moderation, and reflective thinking skills. In terms of implementation, the Merdeka curriculum provides flexibility for teachers to design contextual and student-centered learning, although challenges remain related to teacher readiness and limited learning resources. Regarding evaluation, there is a shift toward authentic assessment that holistically measures learning processes, attitudes, and religious practices, which requires strengthening teachers’ assessment competencies to ensure objectivity and consistency. This study concludes that the transformation of the Islamic education curriculum within the Merdeka curriculum has the potential to improve the quality of Islamic education learning, provided it is supported by consistent policies,

Abstract

Reading is an essential skill in learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL) because it plays a significant role in developing students’ academic abilities and knowledge. One of the rapid reading techniques introduced at the Madrasah Aliyah level is skimming, which is used to obtain the general idea and main points of a text without reading it in detail. However, based on preliminary observations at MA Muhammadiyah Bengkulu, many students still experience difficulties in applying skimming techniques effectively. Therefore, this study aims to analyze students’ difficulties in reading English texts using skimming techniques and to identify the factors causing these difficulties. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants were 15 tenth-grade students of MA Muhammadiyah Bengkulu selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students faced several difficulties in applying skimming techniques, such as identifying the main idea, understanding vocabulary, locating word references, making inferences, and finding detailed information in the text. The main factors contributing to these difficulties were limited vocabulary mastery, students’ lack of understanding of skimming strategies, and insufficient practice in reading English texts. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that students’ skimming ability still needs improvement through more structured reading instruction, appropriate strategy application, and continuous practice in order to help students comprehend English texts more effectively and efficiently.
