Abstract

Majelis Ta'lim (Islamic boarding schools) are non-formal religious educational institutions that play a strategic role in fostering Islamic values in the community. The Office of Religious Affairs (KUA), as a government institution in the religious field, plays an active role in supporting and developing Majelis Ta'lim activities at the sub-district level. This study aims to analyze the role of KUA student interns in strengthening the activities of Majelis Ta'lim in the Medan Perjuangan sub-district. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that KUA student interns play a role in educational, administrative, social, and innovative aspects, such as mentoring religious activities, preparing study materials, managing Majelis Ta'lim administration, and introducing more communicative and contextual learning methods. These roles contribute positively to improving the quality, sustainability, and community participation in Majelis Ta'lim activities. Thus, the presence of KUA student interns is a significant supporting factor in optimizing the function of Majelis Ta'lim as a means of community religious development.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the principal’s leadership practices in managing teachers at the elementary school level, particularly civil servant teachers (ASN) and school education personnel (TKS). The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of the principal’s leadership practices at SDN 126/VI Muara Jernih. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and documentation related to school activities and teacher management. Data were analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that the principal applies a democratic leadership style characterized by openness to teachers’ input, decision-making through deliberation, firmness in enforcing rules, and open two-way communication. The management of ASN and TKS teachers is conducted fairly and proportionally based on each teacher’s competence, experience, and capability. Furthermore, the principal consistently provides guidance and supervision to support teachers’ professional development. This leadership practice has a positive impact on teachers’ performance, discipline, and motivation, while also fostering a harmonious and conducive work climate within the school. This study contributes to the development of effective, fair, and inclusive school leadership practices in managing teachers at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study examines how the effectiveness of school principals’ leadership, the continuity of training programs, and the strengthening of teachers’ competencies simultaneously serve as strategic solutions to overcome existing challenges and improve the quality of inclusive education services. The research employed a quantitative method with an associative approach. The research population consisted of 163 teachers, with a sample of 116 respondents selected using the Proportional Random Sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results indicate that: (1) school principals’ leadership has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a very strong relationship (r = 0.948) and a contribution of 89.9%; (2) training has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a very strong relationship (r = 0.876) and a contribution of 76.7%; (3) teacher competence has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a very strong relationship (r = 0.849) and a contribution of 72%; and (4) simultaneously, school principals’ leadership, training, and teacher competence have a significant effect with a very strong relationship (r = 0.961) and a coefficient of determination of 0.924. This indicates that 92.4% of the variation in teacher performance is explained by the synergy of school principals’ leadership, training, and teacher competence, while the remaining 7.6% is influenced by other factors outside this research model.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship and influence of democratic leadership, work motivation, and school culture on teacher performance in private special schools in South Tangerang City. This research employed a quantitative approach using an associative research method. The sample consisted of 116 teachers from 21 private special schools in South Tangerang City. Data were collected through validated and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression techniques. The results revealed that democratic leadership had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a regression coefficient of 0.993 (t = 17.791; Sig. = 0.001). Work motivation also showed a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a regression coefficient of 0.976 (t = 20.669; Sig. = 0.001). In addition, school culture had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a regression coefficient of 0.939 (t = 21.963; Sig. = 0.001). Simultaneously, democratic leadership, work motivation, and school culture had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, as indicated by an F value of 360.104 (Sig. = 0.001), a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.952, and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.906. These findings indicate that 90.6% of the variance in teacher performance can be explained by the combined influence of democratic leadership, work motivation, and school culture. The study concludes that improving teacher performance in private special schools requires a synergistic approach involving democratic leadership practices, strong work motivation, and a supportive school culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of democratic leadership of school principals, spiritual intelligence, and work motivation on the performance of P3K teachers. The study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population of this study consisted of P3K teachers, with the sample determined using an appropriate sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, while data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the assistance of statistical software. The results indicate that democratic leadership of school principals has a positive and significant effect on the performance of P3K teachers. Spiritual intelligence also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, indicating that spiritual values and meaningful work orientation play an important role in enhancing teacher performance. Meanwhile, work motivation has a significant effect on teacher performance with a negative direction, suggesting that work motivation dominated by external pressures may reduce the quality of teacher performance. Simultaneously, democratic leadership of school principals, spiritual intelligence, and work motivation have a significant effect on the performance of P3K teachers, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.641. This indicates that 64.1% of the variance in P3K teachers’ performance can be explained by these three variables, while the remaining variance is influenced by other factors outside this study. The findings conclude that improving the performance of P3K teachers requires a comprehensive approach through strengthening democratic leadership, developing spiritual intelligence, and managing work motivation in a healthy manner oriented toward intrinsic motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the implementation of philosophical, psychological, sociological, and cultural foundations in elementary school learning at SDN 184 Dare Ajue, Soppeng Regency. A qualitative approach was employed using interviews, classroom observations, document analysis, and student group discussions. The findings indicate that learning practices reflect progressive and constructivist principles through active learning, group work, and the integration of Pancasila values. Instructional strategies have been adapted to students’ developmental characteristics in a contextual manner. However, the integration of sociological and cultural aspects, particularly the use of local culture, has not been systematically planned in instructional documents. This study recommends strengthening instructional planning to explicitly integrate the four curriculum foundations in order to create more meaningful, humanistic, and contextual learning experiences.

Abstract

Political protests increasingly occur in hybrid arenas where street interactions and media visibility combine to produce collective meaning. This study examines how Kompas's visual coverage of the 2025 burning of the Makassar Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) building constructed spontaneous collective behavior and protest escalation. Using an interpretive qualitative design and an exploratory critical case study, the research treats photographs and videos as primary sociological evidence and analyzes them through a visual analytic framework grounded in visual sociology and visual criminology. The findings demonstrate that Kompas organized the protests into a linear escalation narrative from civil expression to chaos, prioritizing images of fire, smoke, and damaged architecture as signifiers. Early-phase visuals emphasize confrontation and synchronous crowd movement, shaping expectations of impending conflict, while later-phase images concentrate on symbolic destruction and the anonymity of the crowd, producing a collective blame effect that obscures individual responsibility. Post-escalation visuals highlight law enforcement, spatial control, and the restoration of order, legitimizing state authority through visual closure. At various stages, affective language amplified the fear and urgency while marginalizing the injustices felt by the protesters, thus translating political opposition into a securitized narrative of chaos. This study contributes to the study of protest and media by demonstrating that visuality is a constituent element of escalation dynamics and moral categorization, not simply a record of events. It also highlights the policy significance of critical visual literacy for evidence-based and humane protest governance in digital democracy.

Abstract

Character education in Islam aims to develop students who are faithful, disciplined, and responsible. One of the efforts made by madrasahs to instill these values is through the Tahfidz Al-Qur’an program. This study aims to examine the implementation of the Tahfidz Al-Qur’an program and its role in shaping students’ discipline and responsibility at MI Al Furqon. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of the principal, Tahfidz teachers, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation. The results show that MI Al Furqon integrates the national curriculum with Islamic education through its vision and mission, which emphasize the development of Qur’anic character. The Tahfidz Al-Qur’an program is implemented in a structured manner using the talaqqi, sima’an, and tikrar methods, supported by regular schedules and periodic evaluations. This program plays a positive role in developing students’ discipline through punctuality and adherence to memorization targets, as well as fostering responsibility by encouraging students to consistently maintain and review their memorization. The challenges encountered include differences in students’ memorization abilities, limited instructional time, and insufficient parental involvement. These challenges are addressed through additional mentoring, the provision of dedicated Tahfidz time, and improved communication with parents.
