Abstract

Early reading difficulties among elementary school students are a common issue that can affect their future academic success. This study aims to analyze teachers’ strategies in using the phonics method to overcome early reading difficulties in second-grade elementary school students. The research employed a qualitative approach using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by analyzing 15 SINTA-indexed journal articles and 3 relevant reference books. Data collection was conducted through reviewing, identifying, and synthesizing literature related to the research focus. The results indicate that teachers’ strategies in implementing the phonics method are carried out in stages, including introducing letter sounds, blending sounds into syllables, and reading simple words and sentences. In addition, the use of various instructional media such as letter cards, pictures, and educational games has been proven to increase students’ interest and engagement in the learning process. The phonics method is effective in helping students understand the relationship between letters and sounds, thereby improving early reading skills. The success of this strategy is also influenced by teachers’ competence, the use of engaging learning media, and support from the family environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation strategy of Total Quality Management (TQM) in an effort to improve the quality of education at MTs Darus Sakinah Tenggarong Seberang. In the era of globalization, Islamic educational institutions are faced with the challenge of balancing religious values with managerial professionalism standards. Using qualitative methods with a literature study approach, this study explores how the principles of Itqan (professionalism) and Ihsan (excellence) are integrated into madrasah management. The results show that effective TQM implementation requires participatory leadership, internalization of a quality culture based on Islamic values, and the application of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle. In conclusion, TQM is not merely an administrative tool, but an instrument for realizing an institution that is academically superior and spiritually strong.

Abstract

This study investigates how meaning is constructed in the inaugural speech of President Prabowo Subianto through the deployment of nominalization, passivization, modality, and rhetorical strategies, and examines the communicative purposes underlying these linguistic choices in the formation of political discourse. Drawing on Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), this study adopts a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze the interplay between language, power, and ideology within the speech. The findings indicate that nominalization and passivization are systematically employed to reframe processes as abstract entities and to background agency, thereby representing policies and national issues as collective responsibilities while maintaining a formal and impersonal tone. Modality, particularly expressions of obligation and high certainty, encodes authority, commitment, and determination, whereas the use of inclusive pronouns such as “we” facilitates audience alignment and collective engagement. In addition, rhetorical strategies, including repetition, parallelism, and appeals to unity, function to foreground key themes, enhance persuasive force, and construct a shared national identity. Overall, the speech operates not merely as a vehicle for articulating governmental vision but as a strategic discursive practice that legitimizes power and shapes social reality within the broader context of political leadership.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) analyze the effectiveness of using the snake and ladder game as an assessment tool for understanding biographical texts among 10th grade students at Sinjai 1 Public High School. (2) examine the differences in the results of understanding biographical texts among 10th grade students at Sinjai 1 Public High School before and after the implementation of the snake and ladder game as an assessment tool. The type of research used is quantitative research with a single-group pre-post-test design. Data collection techniques were carried out through written tests divided into pre-tests and post-tests. The population of this study was all tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sinjai, while the research sample was 28 students from class X.1, determined using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed that the students' biography text assessment results were in the very poor category, with an average score of 38.93 in the range of 0-49. After the implementation of the snake and ladder game assessment media, the students' assessment results showed a significant increase with an average score of 84.75 in the range of 70-84. Based on the results of the paired sample t-test using SPSS, a significance value (Sig.2-tailed) < 0.000 was obtained, which is smaller than 0.05 with a t-count of -36.781, so the hypothesis is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the Snakes and Ladders game is effective in teaching biographical texts to 10th-grade students at Sinjai State High School 1

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kreativitas pengajaran tutor dalam menumbuhkan motivasi belajar di kalangan mahasiswa Paket C di SPNF SKB Ogan Ilir. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tutor menerapkan tujuh bentuk kreativitas pengajaran, yaitu variasi metode pengajaran, pemanfaatan media pembelajaran, pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual, fleksibilitas dalam pengajaran, inovasi dalam strategi pengajaran, pembelajaran interaktif dan partisipatif, serta pengembangan bahan ajar. Bentuk-bentuk kreativitas ini memungkinkan tutor untuk mengubah keterbatasan fasilitas dan waktu belajar menjadi pengalaman belajar yang bermakna dan menarik. Akibatnya, motivasi mahasiswa bergeser dari motif ekstrinsik, seperti kebutuhan administratif, menjadi motivasi intrinsik yang ditandai dengan partisipasi aktif, antusiasme, dan pembelajaran mandiri. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kreativitas pengajaran memainkan peran penting dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar di lingkungan pendidikan nonformal. Disarankan agar lembaga meningkatkan fasilitas pembelajaran digital dan memberikan pelatihan berkelanjutan bagi tutor untuk mempertahankan inovasi dalam praktik pengajaran.

Abstract

Social trauma is a psychological experience arising from negative social interactions, which can significantly affect interpersonal relationships, particularly among university students in early adulthood. This study aims to analyze the forms, causes, and impacts of social trauma in students’ interpersonal relationships using the psychoanalytic perspective proposed by Sigmund Freud. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, utilizing in-depth interviews and observations of students who exhibit indications of social trauma. The findings reveal that social trauma among students is commonly triggered by experiences such as rejection, bullying, interpersonal conflicts, and unhealthy relationships. From Freud’s psychoanalytic perspective, such trauma is associated with imbalances among the id, ego, and superego, resulting in the emergence of defense mechanisms, including repression, projection, and rationalization. The impacts include difficulties in building trust, a tendency toward social withdrawal, and disruptions in interpersonal communication. This study concludes that understanding individuals’ psychic dynamics through a psychoanalytic approach can help identify the root causes of social trauma and provide a foundation for more appropriate interventions within the context of students’ interpersonal relationships.

Abstract

Abstract Parental responsibility toward children constitutes a fundamental aspect in shaping a high-quality generation. From the perspectives of Islamic law and Indonesia’s Child Protection Law, such responsibility encompasses the fulfillment of both material and spiritual needs, religious education, moral development, and guardianship. This study aims to analyze these forms of responsibility comprehensively using a normative approach through literature review. The findings reveal that Islamic law and Indonesian statutory regulations are aligned in positioning parents as the primary actors responsible for ensuring the physical, spiritual, and moral well-being of children. However, challenges remain in their implementation, particularly in fulfilling spiritual needs and moral education amid ongoing social changes. Therefore, synergy among families, communities, and the state is essential to ensure the optimal fulfillment of children’s rights.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) at MI Ma’had Islamy Palembang. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants included the principal, teachers, and students. The findings indicate that GLS has been implemented through the stages of habituation, development, and learning. The program contributes to the development of students’ reading habits, although several challenges remain, such as limited reading materials, varying levels of reading interest, and insufficient family support. Supporting factors include the school’s commitment, the active role of teachers, and the availability of literacy facilities. Therefore, the implementation of GLS is considered fairly effective, yet it requires further improvement to achieve more optimal outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process and effectiveness of using the Busuu application in improving maharah al-qira’ah (reading skills) among tenth-grade students at MAS Insan Kesuma Madani. This research employed a qualitative phenomenological approach, with data collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while the validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation as well as member checking. The findings show that the use of Busuu in Arabic language learning was carried out in three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. During the implementation, Busuu features such as thematic vocabulary, graded reading texts, and automated feedback supported students in improving their reading skills. Indicators of effectiveness identified include improved reading fluency, the ability to understand main ideas and detailed information, the emergence of reading strategies, and increased motivation and learning engagement. Supporting factors of effectiveness include teacher readiness and lesson plan integration, while the main challenges were related to device limitations and unstable internet connectivity. Thus, this study affirms that the use of Busuu can serve as an effective and contextual digital medium to enhance students’ maharah al-qira’ah at MAS Insan Kesuma Madani, while also providing important recommendations for Arabic language teachers in optimizing technology-based learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Practical learning fundamentally requires support from a student-centered approach, one of which is through the application of inquiry-based learning. This model emphasizes stages of activity such as problem identification, question formulation, investigation, data processing, and drawing structured conclusions. However, in the implementation of practical work in the Diesel Engine course, the learning tools used still do not integrate a specific learning model. This results in students primarily following procedural work steps without actively engaging in the investigation process or developing critical thinking skills. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of developing a practical module based on the inquiry model to address the gap between the expected practical learning conditions and the reality encountered in the field. The method used in this study was Research and Development (R&D) with a Four-D (4D) development model limited to the development stage. The resulting product is an inquiry-based practical module structured following the stages of orientation, problem identification, hypothesis formulation, data collection, hypothesis testing, and conclusion drawing. Based on the validity test results, the developed practical module obtained an Aiken's V score of 0.958333333 for the material aspect, 0.955882353 for the inquiry construct aspect, 0.972222222 for the language aspect, and 0.902777778 for the practical module presentation aspect, all of which are considered valid. Therefore, the developed inquiry-based practical module is deemed suitable for use as a practical learning tool in the Diesel Engine course.
