Abstract

The courage to perform in front of the class is an important ability that needs to be developed from elementary school level. However, many students still experience anxiety when they are asked to tell stories, answer questions, or give simple presentations. This condition makes students feel shy, afraid of making mistakes, less confident, and reluctant to participate actively in learning activities. This article aims to examine the strategies of positive self-talk and role-play in improving elementary school students’ courage to perform. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by reviewing 15 relevant scientific articles. The results of the review show that positive self-talk helps students reduce negative thoughts and build self-confidence before performing, while role-play provides students with speaking practice in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. The combination of these two strategies can help reduce anxiety, increase self-confidence, improve communication skills, and encourage students’ active participation in learning. Therefore, positive self-talk and role-play can be used as effective alternative learning strategies to improve elementary school students’ courage to perform.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' needs for interactive gamification-based worksheets (LKPD) in mathematics at SMP SATAP 3 Ponre. Based on an educational psychology perspective, the study used a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method through clinical observations over two meetings. The focus of the observations included the subject teacher's activities, student responses, and interactions in the learning environment. The observations indicated that the teacher implemented the learning process quite well through a structured opening, conveying learning objectives, providing stimuli, and using simple media. Students demonstrated quite good engagement, characterized by enthusiasm, participation in answering questions, and the ability to follow each instruction. The learning environment was also quite conducive and supportive of the learning process. However, the educational psychology analysis indicates that learning still has the potential to be optimized through more interactive media to increase intrinsic motivation, active engagement, and a more meaningful learning experience. Therefore, interactive gamification-based LKPD is recommended as an educational technology innovation that meets student needs.

Abstract

This study addresses the low level of critical thinking skills among third-grade elementary school students, which is influenced by the limited use of innovative learning models in classroom practices. The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving students’ critical thinking skills. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants were third-grade students of SD N 122350 Pematang Siantar. Data were collected through critical thinking tests administered before and after the implementation of the PjBL model. The data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t-test, and regression analysis. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills, as indicated by higher posttest scores compared to pretest results. Statistical analysis also confirmed that the implementation of Project Based Learning had a positive and significant effect on students’ critical thinking abilities. Therefore, it can be concluded that the PjBL model is effective in enhancing critical thinking skills in elementary school students and can be recommended as an alternative learning strategy in primary education. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Muhadatsah program in improving the maharah kalam of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving Arabic language teachers, school principals, and seventh-grade students as research subjects. The results showed that the Muhadatsah program was implemented through simple dialogues, pair conversations, group discussions, and direct Arabic speaking practices in the classroom. The teacher acted as a facilitator by providing conversation examples, correcting pronunciation, and motivating students to speak Arabic confidently. Students’ participation and responses toward the Muhadatsah program were generally positive, as students became more active, enthusiastic, and confident in participating in Arabic conversations. The program also contributed to improving students’ speaking fluency, vocabulary mastery, courage, and self-confidence in using Arabic. However, some students still experienced difficulties due to limited vocabulary mastery and lack of confidence when speaking independently. Overall, the Muhadatsah program can be considered an effective strategy for improving students’ maharah kalam when implemented consistently, communicatively, and supported by an active learning environment.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the full day school policy in shaping the character of students. The background of this research is the phenomenon of declining student behavior, such as cheating, brawling, and truancy, as well as the increasing crime rate of adolescents who demand moral improvement through educational institutions. The research method used is a qualitative approach with the type of library research, where data is collected from national journals, scientific books, and related policy documents to be analyzed descriptively. The results of the study show that the implementation of full day school in shaping students' character is carried out through three main activities, namely: learning activities, school culture (through routine, spontaneous, exemplary, and conditioning activities), and extracurricular activities. The full day school policy has a positive effect on character formation because this system increases the interaction time of students under the guidance of teachers so as to minimize the negative influence of the outside environment. In addition, character formation occurs through a hidden curriculum, where discipline, habituation, and teacher exemplification are key factors in instilling religious values and noble morals in students. The results of this study show that the full day school policy is an effective educational strategy to optimize the formation of students' character, faith, and morals in response to the increasing challenges of juvenile delinquency and declining morality. The implementation of a full day school is not only about extending learning time, but also integrating the curriculum and activities (integrated curriculum and integrated activities) to instill positive values holistically. The main points of the success of this policy include: Character Building Method, character is formed through three main paths, namely effective learning activities, school culture (through routine habituation, spontaneous activities, and conditioning), and extracurricular activities that develop interests, talents, and organizational skills.
