Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of emotional literacy content in the Indonesian language textbook Bahasa Indonesia: Bergerak Bersama for fifth-grade elementary school students in the Merdeka Curriculum. The study employed a qualitative approach using content analysis of reading texts, dialogues, illustrations, and learning activities in the textbook based on Steiner’s (2003) emotional literacy theory. Data were collected through documentation study and analyzed using thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke (2006). The results showed that the textbook contains five aspects of emotional literacy, namely self-awareness of emotions, empathy, emotional management, repairing emotional damage, and building social interaction. Self-awareness of emotions was the most dominant aspect, while repairing emotional damage was the least represented aspect. The findings indicate that the textbook has integrated emotional literacy values through characters, social interactions, and learning situations related to students’ daily lives. However, the limited representation of emotional management and social conflict resolution provides students with only a few examples of socio-emotional behavior in learning texts. Therefore, it is necessary to develop learning texts that accommodate emotional literacy aspects more proportionally in order to support students’ socio-emotional development more optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the effectiveness of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the self-regulated learning of Islamic Education (PAI) students, academic year 2023 at UIN Sumatera Utara. This research employs a quantitative correlational approach. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire instrument distributed to a sample of 77 respondents. The data analysis technique used was the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test, applied after ensuring the data met the prerequisites of normality and linearity tests. The descriptive analysis results indicate that both the effectiveness of AI usage and the students' self-regulated learning are in the moderate category. Based on the hypothesis testing, a pearson correlation of 0.021 with a significance value of 0.854 was obtained. Because the significance value is greater than 0.05 (0.854 > 0.05), H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. This confirms that there is no significant relationship between the effectiveness of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and students' self-regulated learning. The conclusion of this study indicates that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology purely serves as an external assistive tool and is incapable of automatically shaping self-regulated learning. Self-regulated learning is proven to be an aspect driven by internal factors, specifically the awareness and motivation from within the learners themselves.

Abstract

This qualitative study, based on a systematic literature review, aims to formulate the servomechanism paradigm as a psychological approach to shaping teachers’ personalities, while also analyzing its application in schools. This step was taken to address the issue of the many educators who still struggle to build a mature and authoritative professional personality. By dissecting verified journal data through a descriptive-analytical approach, the study concludes that the servomechanism approach conceptualizes a teacher’s personality as an adaptive dynamic system. This system operates through a feedback mechanism to automatically correct actions toward the targeted value orientation. Its implementation focuses on developing seven interrelated aspects: self-awareness, conscience, imagination, independence, readiness to act quickly, simplicity, and self-confidence. This development is systematically influenced by internal factors (self-image, experience, emotions, value orientation, spirituality) and external factors (feedback mechanisms, socio-cultural environment, professional competence). At the school level, this approach is implemented through a continuous cycle consisting of providing stimuli through school culture, behavioral responses, reinforcement through habituation, and structured self-reflection. This systematic framework effectively fosters the personality of professional teachers who are able to serve as inspiring role models for students. At the school level, this approach is implemented through a continuous cycle consisting of providing stimuli through school culture, behavioral responses, reinforcement through habit formation, and structured self-reflection. This systematic framework effectively fosters the development of professional teachers who can serve as inspiring role models for students.

Abstract

Social-emotional development in early childhood is an important aspect in supporting the success of the learning process in school. Children are not only expected to develop cognitively, but also to manage emotions, interact socially, and follow established rules. This study aims to analyze children’s social-emotional development and the implementation of school rules at Al-Ghifari Kindergarten, Muaro Jambi. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that children’s social-emotional development is still unstable, indicated by behaviors such as easily getting bored, lack of focus, and mood changes that affect participation in learning activities. In addition, in implementing school rules, children still require repeated guidance and reminders due to limited self-control ability. Teachers overcome these challenges by applying varied learning methods and providing patient and consistent guidance. Therefore, support from teachers and parents is needed to optimize children’s social-emotional development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of School-Based Management (SBM) implementation in improving educational quality through a SWOT analysis at SD No. 5 Darmasaba. Although SBM has been implemented comprehensively, several challenges remain, including limited program documentation, uneven stakeholder involvement, and constraints in personnel management. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and the distribution of SBM implementation questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted by identifying the school's internal and external factors, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The findings revealed that the implementation of SBM at SD No. 5 Darmasaba was highly effective, achieving a score of 214 out of a maximum of 219 points. The school's strengths include participative principal leadership, teacher professionalism, transparent financial management, and harmonious relationships with the community. The identified weaknesses were related to program documentation and the school's limited authority in personnel management. Opportunities stem from community support, government policies, technological advancements, and collaboration with various stakeholders, while threats include changes in educational policies and competition among schools. Based on the SWOT analysis, SBM implementation has proven effective in enhancing educational quality by optimizing school resources, strengthening stakeholder participation, and supporting the achievement of educational goals in an effective and efficient manner. The findings suggest that SWOT analysis can serve as a foundation for formulating sustainable school development strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of Islamic education politics in Indonesia, focusing on state policies toward madrasahs and pesantrens. The novelty of this research lies in its comparative analysis of state policy patterns toward these two Islamic educational institutions across different political periods in Indonesia. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research enriched by netnography. Data were collected from books, scholarly journals, policy documents, and relevant digital sources and analyzed descriptively. The findings show that Islamic education policies have evolved from marginalization and integration to standardization and greater recognition during the Reform era. Madrasahs have been directed toward standardization and integration into the national education system, while pesantrens have retained broader institutional autonomy. The study concludes that Islamic education politics is a process of negotiation between the state and Muslim society that requires inclusive and adaptive policies to improve educational quality while preserving Islamic identity

Abstract

Academic texts are fundamental elements in scientific communication used to convey ideas in a systematic, objective, and evidence-based manner. However, the lack of a unified understanding of the definition, characteristics, and genres of academic texts remains a challenge in strengthening academic writing skills in educational settings. This study aims to analyze academic texts in terms of their definition, characteristics, and genres as a foundation for scientific writing. The research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method based on relevant academic sources, including national journals and scholarly books. The findings reveal that academic texts have various definitions but share a common feature as formal, structured, and scientific texts. The main characteristics of academic texts include the use of standardized language, logical structure, and data- and reference-based argumentation. In addition, academic text genres consist of research articles, research reports, academic essays, and literature reviews. These findings emphasize that a comprehensive understanding of academic texts is essential as a basis for producing high-quality scientific writing.

Abstract

The Mamokkot Rumah Bayu tradition is an oral cultural heritage of the Simalungun people, passed down from generation to generation and still holds significant value in the social life of the Simalungun people. This tradition is carried out as a form of inauguration of the Rumah Bayu or traditional house, accompanied by various stages, traditional ceremonies, traditional speeches, prayers, advice, and symbolic expressions conveyed orally. This study aims to examine the Mamokkot Rumah Bayu tradition as part of the Simalungun oral tradition and to understand its meaning and socio-cultural functions. The Mamokkot Rumah Bayu tradition contains various forms of oral tradition, such as umpasa (incantations), traditional advice, prayers, and symbolic communication, which serve as a medium for conveying cultural values, honoring ancestors, and strengthening social ties within the community. Furthermore, this tradition also reflects the values of mutual cooperation, solidarity, respect, and the role of tolu sabundulan (social bonds) in Simalungun traditional life. The Mamokkot Rumah Bayu tradition is beginning to undergo changes, particularly in the use of traditional language and the completeness of the ceremonial stages. Nevertheless, this tradition is still maintained by the community as part of their cultural identity and ancestral heritage, possessing historical and educational value. Therefore, the preservation of oral traditions in the mamokket rumah bayu (house of bayu) is necessary to ensure that Sumalungun cultural values are maintained and recognized by the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of standard and non-standard language forms in conversations between sellers and buyers at Pasar Raya MMTC. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through direct observation of buying and selling interactions in the market. Observation, note-taking, and documentation techniques were used to record utterances produced by sellers and buyers during transactions. The results indicate that non-standard language is used more frequently than standard language. Non-standard language appears in the form of everyday conversational expressions, the use of certain particles, and a mixture of Indonesian and local languages. This language variety is preferred because it is considered more practical, easier to understand, and suitable for the fast-paced and informal communication that characterizes market interactions. Meanwhile, standard language is used in specific situations, particularly when speakers need to convey information clearly and politely. Factors influencing the use of standard and non-standard language include cultural background, age of the speakers, social environment, communication purposes, and the level of familiarity between sellers and buyers. The findings show that language use in buying and selling interactions is flexible and adapts to the communicative context of the traditional market.
