Abstract

Abstract In the manufacturing industry, machine efficiency is a key factor in increasing productivity and reducing operational costs. This study aims to improve the efficiency of the industrial yarn production process at PT. Coats Rejo Indonesia. This company is a manufacturer of high-quality industrial yarn. This study uses an integrated approach between the Waste Assessment Model (WAM) and Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT) to identify and reduce waste in the production process. The goal is to provide recommendations for improvements that can improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the company. The research methods used include direct observation at the production site, interviews with related parties, data analysis, and the application of WAM and VALSAT. The results of the study indicate that the main type of waste identified is Rework. This information will be used to develop appropriate strategies to reduce Rework and improve overall production efficiency.

Abstract

PT. XYZ in the industrial world, increasing productivity and production efficiency is a key factor in achieving company goals, such as reducing defective products, and responding to increasingly stringent market demands. This study discusses the analysis of rotary strip machine productivity using the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) method which is used to measure the extent to which the rotary strip machine in the company works efficiently and effectively. Based on the results of data processing in this study, it can be concluded that the OEE calculation value obtained on the rotary strip machine at PT. XYZ with an average OEE value in October is 91% in November is 89%, and in December is 86%, in this value category according to JIMP the OEE value above 60% has met the standards set by the Japanese Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) which is 85%. Soit can be considered to have a high effective value.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the project’s time and cost using the crashing method This study was conducted to evaluate the time and cost performance of a project using the crashing method by extending daily working hours in the Integrated Diagnostic Building Construction Project at RSUD Sidoarjo. The main purpose of this research is to determine the most efficient combination of project duration and cost while calculating the additional expenses resulting from the application of the crashing method. The data were obtained from project schedules, progress reports, and detailed cost breakdowns for each activity. The analysis began by calculating the normal project duration, then comparing it to the results after applying the crashing method through additional working hours of 1, 2, and 3 hours per day. The results show that the original project duration of 200 days can be shortened to 199 days with an extra hour, to 198 days with two additional hours, and to 197 days with three additional hours per day. The total project costs after crashing were IDR 45,320,447,319.55 for one-hour addition, IDR 45,286,606,288.69 for two-hour addition, and IDR 45,252,907,565.9 for three-hour addition.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a development strategy for traditional snack Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Padang City using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach. The unique challenges faced by traditional culinary businesses, such as competition from modern snacks and gaps in digitalization, necessitate a structured business model innovation. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method, involving in-depth interviews and observations with five traditional snack MSME owners in Padang. Data were analyzed by mapping the existing (as-is) BMC and conducting a SWOT analysis to identify internal and external factors. The results indicate that most MSMEs still operate conventionally, with weaknesses in the 'Channels' and 'Customer Relationships' elements. This study proposes a 'to-be' BMC, emphasizing the integration of digital channels (social media, e-commerce), strengthening 'Value Propositions' through authentic branding and modern packaging, and establishing 'Key Partnerships' with local suppliers and delivery services. The implication is a practical strategic framework for MSMEs to enhance competitiveness and sustainability.

Abstract

This research addresses the critical need to systematically benchmark the efficiency of modern drying machine to upgrade the prevailing traditional method for drying cloves. The main objective of this investigation was to analyze comparative efficiency between electric and biomass dryig machine and provide recommendations for the most optimal type of drying machine based on energy consumption, drying time and final moisture content. This study using comparatibe experimental design with controlled cloves samples to collect data and applied one-way ANOVA test for the statictical analysis of significant differences betweeen the machines. The results confirmed that the electric drying machine achieves greates overall efficiency and optimality, providing faster processing times without diminishing the basic quality or final moisture content of the cloves.

Abstract

Raw material inventory is an important factor that influences company profits. CV. XYZ is a company engaged in the production of precast concrete. This company has not implemented special methods in planning and scheduling production. So far, companies have only relied on predictions of consumer needs without proper analysis, so they often experience excesses or shortages of raw materials. This research aims to determine the optimal amount of raw material inventory using the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) method. Data collection techniques include interviews, literature study, observations and observations. Calculations are carried out using the lot sizing method to determine the quantity and frequency of orders as well as total inventory costs. The analysis results show that the MRP method using the Periodic Order Quantity (POQ) technique produces lower total costs compared to Economic Order Quantity (EOQ). By applying the MRP method with the POQ technique, companies can optimize raw material inventory and minimize total inventory costs.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is an important aspect in creating a conducive work environment. There are still many potential hazards that can cause work accidents and health problems. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the K3 system at CV. X by applying the HIRARC method and fishbone analysis to identify the most significant root causes of risk. The research method applied is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection carried out through direct observation and interviews. Risk identification is carried out according to work activities. Furthermore, Fishbone analysis is used to identify the main causes of hazards that have a high risk level. The research findings show that the identified risk levels are in the low to moderate range, with injuries to the waist, back and finger wounds as the main risks that require immediate attention. By combining the HIRARC and fishbone methods, companies can design a more focused and systematic risk control strategy.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program in the filling line of PT Sinar Sosro Cibitung by applying the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) approach and measuring Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Data were collected through observations, interviews, and maintenance log documentation during September 2024. The analysis focused on three OEE components (availability, performance, and quality) and identification of the Six Big Losses. The results show that the average OEE value of the filling machine reached 92.0% (availability 94.3%; performance 98.5%; quality 99.3%), indicating performance above the world-class standard set by JIPM. The findings suggest strengthening the autonomous maintenance program and controlling production losses to ensure machine performance sustainability.

Abstract

Markas Kaos is a local garment industry engaged in screen-printed t-shirt production. In its operations, Markas Kaos faces the problem of a high number of defective products, which has an impact on decreasing production efficiency and product quality. This study aims to analyze the types of defects, their main causes, and the stability of the production process using the Seven Tools of Quality Control approach. The data used is secondary data on the number of production defects during the period January–December 2024. The results show that the dominant types of defects are long threads (34.70%), broken stitches (31.37%), wrinkles (22.10%), and holes (11.83%). The main factors causing defects come from human aspects, machines, materials, methods, and the work environment. Control chart analysis shows that the production process is in a statistically stable condition, because all defect proportion values are still within control limits. The results of this study are expected to serve as evaluation material for Markas Kaos management in improving product quality and production process efficiency on an ongoing basis.
