Abstract

AA Convection is a small household-scale industry that produces jeans for children. Almost the entire production process at the AA convection is manual handling. Therefore, it is necessary to identify work postures at work stations to determine the risk of injury or musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). To identify working posture, a method is needed, one of which is the Ovako Working Posture Analysis System (OWAS) method used to identify MSDs from inappropriate work activities. This study aims to identify the risk level of MSDs. On sewing and packing work and recommending work position improvements to reduce MSD complaints to workers at AA Convection. The results of this study indicate that the risk of MSDs in sewing and packing work has the same ergonomic status, with a risk level of 2nd order, which means that action is needed for some time to come. The recommendation for improving work position in sewing work is to redesign tables and chairs according to the height of workers. While the recommendation for improving work posture in packing work is to provide work desks and chairs that can also be adjusted to body height to reduce complaints and the level of risk of MSDs.

Abstract

Stock investors perform stock price forecasting based on technical indicators and historical stock prices. The large number of technical indicators and historical data often leads to overfitting and ambiguity in forecasting using machine learning. In this paper, we proposed a feature selection approach using impurity-based important features in recursive feature elimination for stock price forecasting. The data utilized includes historical data and various moving averages. Feature selection is employed to reduce the number of features and obtain important and relevant features. The recursive feature elimination with impurity-based important features is utilized as the feature selection method. The machine learning methods employed are linear regression, support vector regression, multi-layer perceptron regression, and random forest regression. The measurement results of mean squared error (mse), root mean squared error (rmse), mean absolute error (mae), and mean absolute percentage error (mape) show that the optimal feature selection and machine learning method is achieved with six features and linear regression. The average mse, rmse, mae, and mape values are 0.000279, 0.016577, 0.012843, and 1.42236%, respectively. These results validate the effectiveness of impurity-based important features for feature selection in recursive feature elimination using historical data and various moving averages in stock price forecasting.

Abstract

Chili is one of the most widely consumed and highly price-volatile horticultural vegetables in Indonesia. In terms of consumption, it is a staple ingredient in the daily diet of most Indonesians. When chili prices surge, it not only affects the purchasing power of the population but also disrupts economic stability. Daily chili price data from the Department of Trade for the period of January 2010 to December 2015 demonstrates significant price fluctuations, primarily influenced by seasonal variations driven by weather conditions. Policy recommendations include promoting off-season chili cultivation, regulating production, and fostering farmer-industry partnerships. In pursuit of these objectives, mapping chili production regions in Indonesia using big data and data mining techniques, particularly hierarchical clustering, emerges as a valuable approach. This methodology allows the creation of models identifying optimal areas for chili cultivation, taking into account soil conditions conducive to optimal growth. The hierarchical clustering process employs average linkage and cosine distance to group regions based on climatic and environmental characteristics. The analysis reveals that Cluster C4, encompassing various provinces across Indonesia, exhibits the most favorable conditions for chili cultivation. This conclusion offers valuable guidance to farmers and researchers in determining the optimal locations for chili cultivation. Furthermore, the approach holds potential for application to other agricultural commodities, contributing to increased domestic production and price stability in the market.
