Abstract

This study aims to analyze the environmental impacts of fish farming activities on the surrounding environment, particularly on the Tallo River and nearby residential areas. The environmental impact assessment focused on water and air quality across various aquaculture sites. Water quality was analyzed through in-situ and ex-situ sampling at four distinct points: Station 1 (upstream of the Tallo River), Station 2 (discharge outlet from aquaculture ponds into the Tallo River), Station 3 (downstream of the Tallo River), and Station 4 (wells within the Panaikang residential area). Three parameters were evaluated: physical (temperature, odor, and color), chemical (pH, DO, BOD, and COD), and biological (total coliform). While the physical and biological parameters met established standards, the chemical parameters fell below permissible thresholds. Specifically, DO, BOD, and COD values at Stations 2 and 3 revealed concerning levels: DO at 3.8 mg/L and 2.6 mg/L; BOD at 3.61 mg/L and 11.7 mg/L; and COD at 36.9 mg/L and 74.1 mg/L, respectively, indicating water pollution attributable to fish farming activities. Air quality assessments, including noise level measurements, were conducted at two points: Station 1 (within the aquaculture area) and Station 2 (Panaikang residential area). Noise levels were measured exclusively in the aquaculture zone. Results demonstrated compliance with regulatory standards for air quality and noise levels, indicating no significant risk of air pollution. A community survey further corroborated these findings, with 77% of respondents affirming that aquaculture activities did not disrupt their daily lives or environmental quality.

Abstract

The enhancement of physical facilities and infrastructure is a governmental strategy aimed at improving public welfare, exemplified by the construction of ring highways in several Indonesian towns. The primary objective of constructing the ring road is to alleviate urban traffic congestion and enhance the movement of regional, inter-city, and local traffic, hence facilitating the efficient distribution of commodities at both regional and local levels. The Sorong Ring Road leads to Arar Port in Sorong Regency, situated on the westernmost edge of Papua Island, serving as the entry point to Papua. The terrain of Sorong Regency comprises mountains, slopes, hills, and lowland areas. To promote economic equality, the government plans to construct several large ports, with Sorong Regency designated as one of the sites for a larger port. This development will enhance the volume of maritime traffic in and out of the port. The research employs quantitative methodologies utilizing primary and sequential data collection procedures, alongside multiple linear regression analysis. The study's results suggest that road network growth is a significant factor influencing congestion, accounting for 39.4% or a coefficient of 0.394, with a significance level of 0.000. This indicates that it is below 0.05, and it is asserted that the advantages of constructing the ring road network significantly impact the congestion issue in Sorong City. The determination coefficient is 0.672, indicating that 67.2% of the variables contributing to the congestion issue can be elucidated by the variable pertaining to Ring Road Network Development. The remaining 33% of variables were accounted for by unobserved factors in this study. The R value is 0.820, indicating a correlation of 0.820 between congestion (x1), side obstructions (x4), pollution (x5), and the ring road network concerning the congestion issue. This indicates a robust and favorable correlation in alleviating congestion, lateral obstructions, and air pollution.

Abstract

Road pavement refers to a layer situated between the subgrade dirt layer and the wheels of vehicles. It seeks to offer transportation services while ensuring that no substantial damage is anticipated during its operation. The road from Kambuaya to Kumurkek, recognized as the principal thoroughfare in West Papua, is a crucial infrastructure for enhancing the local economy. Consequently, to attain this enhancement, it is essential to evaluate and refine the current road pavement. The flexible pavement is defined as a pavement composed of a paved mixture for the surface layer and granular material for the underneath layer. The pavement layer possesses elasticity that enhances vehicle comfort during transit. Moreover, the 2017 MDP approach has been employed to assess the thickness of road pavement, contributing to the improvement of road performance while addressing the issues and impediments to asset performance in Indonesia. The Directorate General of Highways and Construction Development has established technical criteria for the restoration of severely damaged roadways. The specification encompasses a series of pavement layers designated for all National roads. This research employed a quantitative methodology, utilizing both primary and secondary data, and calculated pavement thickness based on the 2017 MDP. The findings indicated structural degradation on the Kambuaya to Kumurkek route, specifically in section 6, necessitating an additional structural overlay layer triggered by an IRI score of 2. Furthermore, it necessitated an extra layer thickness of 60 mm and mandated repair in sections 7 and 8 of the Kambuaya-Kumurkek road section, triggered by an IRI value of 3. Furthermore, section 9 requires non-structural overlay management due to an IRI value of 1, whereas the preceding section, section 10, necessitated reconstruction owing to an IRI value of 3 following the structural number assessment. This research suggests that the treatment constitutes a significant rehabilitation..
