Abstract

Educators and education staff are primary aspects of education that contribute to school quality improvement.  High-quality educators and education staff will lead to high-quality school.  However, not all educators and education staff have good quality, due to low-quality management.  With this in mind, this study aims to discover the implementation of educators and education staff management in a primary school in West Java, Indonesia.  It is found that (1) the ideal ratio of educators and staff has not been achieved, (2) temporary educators are far from being prosperous, in terms of monetary compensation, and (3) training programs for educators and education staff are very limited.  These finding indicate that the planning and development process for educators and education staff require an in-depth analysis.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out and examine the influence of principal's leadership and teacher’s professional competency toward students’ learning achievement. The research method was descriptive and verification methods, with a Likert scale questionnaire as data collection techniques distributed to 54 teachers. Regression analysis technique was used in processing the research result with F-Test as the significance test. The results showed that: (1) there was a positive but less significant effect between the leadership of the principal on students’ achievement. (2) There is a positive and significant influence between the professional competencies of teacher on students’ achievement. (3) There is a positive and significant influence between the principal's leadership and teacher professional competence simultaneously on the learning achievement. Starting from these conditions, the authors suggest, that: (1) Principals are expected to be able to implement their mission more optimally by involving teachers in the preparation of vision and mission as well as improving their socialization programs to have whole understanding from all elements in the school (2) Teachers should learn more and comply with ethics code by attending the MGMP discussion and PGRI meetings. The teachers also have to maximize and enrich their teaching materials, by reading more journals and books in accordance with their fields and delving more insight from the internet.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the deeper on the character education in SMKN (vocational school) Pleret Bantul Jogjakarta which covers: (1) some patterns of religious values education in Vocational High School of Pleret Bantul Yogyakarta students, namely: (a) do praying before and after the activities (studying); (b) To do Dhuhur and Asar prayers in the mosque ;  (c) Dhuha prayer; (d) To read Al-Qur`an every morning in Ramadhan before learning teaching process; (e) Sunnah fasting of Monday-Thursday, f. hadroh music; (2)  the internalization of emotional quotient; and (3) It is the positive effect of character education toward students of SMKN Pleret Bantul. The research was  a  descriptive qualitative approach. Technique of data collection by interview, observation of participant and documentation. The data analysis was by reduction, display and provided conclusions. The result of this study shows : (1) the transformation of Spiritual Quotient values : Various patterns of character values education are beneficial to the values of the students' faith of the character values. Students had religiosity is a way of religious individuals who incorporate religious values into their personalities; (2) the emotional quotient values which is described in the character values of students, namely: students have empathy attitude to help another, have good self-awareness, have moods and emotions, and have the high motivation  and have ability to build good communication with another; (3)there are the positive effect of Spiritual Quotient (SQ) values and emotional quotient (EQ) in students’ character and have good academic achievement.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, adopting the concept of business marketing to face competition among educational institutions is something that cannot be avoided. The public demand for high-quality education, satisfactory customer service, and school’s resources become the basis of consideration for the educational institution in determining its marketing strategy. Optimal educational resources management and institution’s ability to communicate with customers and communities are the keys to effectively implement educational marketing strategies. The purpose of this literature review is to obtain a thorough understanding of resource optimization in education marketing strategies as an effort to increase customer and maintain customer loyalty.

Abstract

Education of Administration programs is one of the discipline study about how to plan and develop all resources. As graduates who pursue education profession, absorption S1 graduates majoring in Educational of Administration has not fully relevant job with its competence. The aim of this study was to obtain a profile of the S1 graduates majoring in Educational of Administration of work in the office and the Department of Education Cimahi and Tutoring Center of Ganesha Operation section Elementary School Marketing Center in Bandung in Three research focus are: 1) Competency Profile S1 Department of Educational Administration in the field of work, 2) Relevance of courses, and 3) self-actualization S1 graduates majoring in Educational Administration. This is a source of research data Cimahi Secretary of Education, Staff Sub-Division and Reporting Program, Section Chief Marketing Promotion and Marketing Staff. The method used is descriptive method with qualitative approach. The data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Based on the findings and analysis in the field that 1) Competence S1 graduates majoring in Educational to Administration can meet the competency areas of work, 2) Subjects Administration Education S1 majoring in accordance with with the field work, and 3) self- Actualization S1 graduates majoring in Educational Administration at field work. The recommendation is based on the results of the empirical findings for: 1) Fulfillment by KKNI Competency Standards, 2) Model Profiles S1 graduates majoring in Educational Administration, 3) Development of programs majoring in Educational Administration, and 4) Optimization of Facility Development Department of Educational Administration.

Abstract

This study is an attempt to gather and investigate in depth information on Malaysian university students’ use of the English language in their daily interactions. Essentially, it is a qualitative phenomenological study that utilizes the interview as a tool to gather information from undergraduates of a Malaysian public university based in the Klang valley. Nine students were enquired upon the extent to which English language is used in their daily interactions and challenges that they faced in using the language.  Analysis done led to five main themes that represented the pattern of their English language usage. The themes found were indicative that the uses of English language in interactions were (1) limited to needs and situation, (2) based on location and purpose, (3) affected by low self-efficacy and language skills (4) strong affective barriers and (5) unsupportive social environment. It could be said that the findings can act as an eye opener for definitive actions to be taken to improve EL interaction amongst Malaysian undergraduates towards the fulfillment of the Malaysia Education Blueprint (MEB-HE) 2015-2025 (Higher Education) aspirations.

Abstract

This research is to study the moral leadership among heads of department at selected private institution in Klang Valley. The first objectives of this study are to determine the level of effectiveness of moral leadership; the second objective is to identify the domain attribute of moral leadership among heads of department at selected private institutions in Klang Valley. To answer the research objectives, questionnaires were distributed to 260 academic and administrative staff at two selected private institutions in Klang Valley.  The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 21. The descriptive statistical methods, such as percentage, mean and standard deviation, were used to identify the effectiveness and to find the dominant attributes of moral leadership among heads of department. The findings showed that the effectiveness and the dominant attribute of moral leadership among heads of department are high level for trustworthiness and communication dominants with the mean for both dominants are more than 3.50, while for criticism and dissent, fairness, employee’s development, empowerment and employee’s job performance in average level when the mean is below than 3.00. This research implication indicates that, it is importance for heads of department to practice and implemented moral leadership in their leadership styles to achieve the goals of the institutions.

Abstract

Research relating to the leadership of principals in Indonesia generally uses indicators from various theories and literatures. In fact, principal, teachers and staff who are directly involved with the activities of school principals, of course, they have their own criteria and indicators relate to good principal leadership. This study aims to explore and find the good principal leadership indicators based on principals, teachers, and administration staff perspectives. An open question about the characteristics of a good principal ledership was asked to 124 respondents (12 principals, 93 teachers, and 19 administrative staff). The answer is directed and written at least 3 characteristics words. Furthermore, 670 statement as answers were analyzed qualitatively to take the similarity of meaning and there are 36 Statements with different meaning. Quantitative analysis is done to sort the indicators based on Response Indeks (RI). The results show there are 29 indicators, namely: Wise, Honest, To be responsible, Role models,  Discipline, Assertive, Charimatic, Mastering IT, Fair, Smart, Visionary, Transparent, Democratic, Responsive, Open, Friendly, Protect, Humble, Communicative, Motivator, Souled leader,  Able to solve problems, Creative, Loyal, Professional, Social soul, Self-Cofidence, and Trustful.

Abstract

Local research on  international students at Chinese universities is often related to the challenges that they encounter. The research on the impact of such challenges on their academic achievement, such as their learning readiness is still lacking. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of international student learning readiness on their achievement. To address the research objective, a quantitative research involving 275 selected international students with origins in Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa and Europe was carried out. Questionnaires were distributed and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods such as mean and percent, and a  inferential statistical method (logistic regression). This study found that international students’ learning readiness influenced their achievement in the aspects of content knowledge, cognitive skills, study skills and strategies, and habits of success with p0.05. The finding is available for stakeholders, especially researchers, to carry out further research in identifying the effectiveness of their learning readiness to overcome the challenges that were found by previous researchers.

Abstract

The research on the implementation of Operational Aid to School Program (In Indonesian language is abbreviated as BOS) usage policy in Indonesia is aimed to know the description related to the central government program to provide funding for non personnel operating expenses for primary and secondary education units. The method used in this research is qualitative, data collection technique using Focus Group Discussion, interview, observation and documentation. Informants are drawn from the element of the school, the elements of the school committee, the element of the School Board, the element of the Education Office. Submission of Operational Aid to School Program has been right target, component designation and the mechanism is clear although still found the lack of accuracy in its use, because it is still possible because there are still not really understand it. It is certainly necessary to improve the quality and quantity side of socialization. In addition, controls and consents are still underway to improve their effectiveness. It is also realized that the use of Operational Aid to School Program has an impact on the quality of education. At the moment the negative impacts appear to be as soon as possible to find the right solution and keep in mind the tips/strategies to handle it.
