Abstract

The learning media development is based on existing teaching materials that do not yet provide an overall picture of cultural diversity in Indonesia, and the methods given by teachers only assign some of the diversity. The urgency in the class has a high level of curiosity, but to see this diversity, the teacher only displays it through his device and gives it to students who ask questions, resulting in an uneven distribution of student activity. Therefore, the research aims to ascertain the steps for making flipchart learning media, the validity of experts, and students' responses to flipchart media. The research method was RD, using the ADDIE model, with material expert testing: curriculum, methods, language, and evaluation, and learning media expert testing in verbal, cover design, content design, and typography. The feasibility test was carried out by four lecturers of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. The validation results from the two validators' material experts obtained an average percentage of 94%, with the criteria being "very feasible." The two validators' learning media expert validation received 87.5%, with the criteria "very feasible." With the "very feasible" criteria, the overall average percentage of validators was 90.75%. For student responses, a percentage of 91.5% was attained, with the criteria being "very feasible." Based on the validation results of two material expert lecturers, two media expert lecturers, and the responses of class IV students, flipchart learning media could be described as "very suitable" for use in elementary schools and could enhance student activity.

Abstract

The current shift in the educational paradigm can be observed in Indonesia's emphasis on developing 21st-century skills. Soft skills are now a criterion for the quality of human resources, and their acquisition must be habitual. This can begin with classroom learning activities as well as supporting activities outside of the classroom. The purposes of this research were, therefore, to 1) analyze the learning process using the cooperative learning model, 2) apply the cooperative learning model to analyze supporting and inhibiting factors for learning activities, and 3) describe the impact of using the cooperative learning model on developing soft skills in class V students at the Islamic Integrated Elementary School of Irsyadul Ibad, particularly in the class of Hanzalah. In this study, descriptive methods were combined with a qualitative approach, and the data were gathered as a set of words and images. The data from observation, documentation, and interview sources were thus analyzed by the researchers in this study. The study's findings demonstrated that: 1) Students' soft skills can be developed in the classroom using the cooperative learning model. 2) Activities outside of learning, such as extracurricular activities, can help students develop their soft skills. 3) The cooperative learning model can be used to teach students basic skills like communication, self-confidence, cooperation, creativity, and critical attitudes.

Abstract

One of the national heroes who fought for education in Indonesia was Ki Hajar Dewantara. The various thoughts that Ki Hajar Dewantara contributed brought progress to education in Indonesia. The five basics of education, according to Ki Hajar Dewantara, encompass guiding, the nature of nature, the nature of the times, manners, and the among system. Many previous studies have discussed the “among system.” Therefore, in this study, the researchers aim to outline Ki Hajar Dewantara's "guiding" basics of education at elementary school. The method used in this research was qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques employed the Milles and Huberman model, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research findings demonstrated that Ki Hajar Dewantara’s educational concept of "guiding" at Muhammadiyah Alam Surya Mentari Elementary School could be seen from (a) the learning objectives, namely guiding the nature of students to become human beings with character by teaching honesty, good manners, and leadership; (b) the learning process, which guides each student to learn optimally according to each student's readiness, learning profile, and diverse interests by using various methods, media, and scaffolding in learning; and (c) habituation activities before learning, such as reading Qur’an, stretching, praying Dhuha in the congregation, and praying together.

Abstract

The Indonesian authority encourages that higher education institutions should carried out in a non-lecturing manner, in the form of a case method and team-based project. Therefore, the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia requires all lecturers to create collaborative and participatory classes. The Social Sciences Learning in the Upper-Level Class Course used the project-based learning (PjBL) model in the form of visits to museums and making videos of the results of their visits, so it is important to investigate the implementation and results of the practice to enhance critical thinking. The subjects of this qualitative study were fourth-semester students at the UPI Serang Campus Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program. The method employed in this research was a descriptive qualitative using observation and questionnaire data collection. The data analysis used the Miles and Huberman framework, comprising data reduction, data display, verification, and conclusion. The results of the research demonstrated that the application of the PjBL model in the course by creating videos and YouTube platforms revealed that students' creativity increased because they were given the freedom to explore their creative thinking in carrying out the project. This is shown by the percentage of 27.21% was in very students completing assignments, with excellent criteria and the rest gained good criteria according to the rubric given. The implementation could be the best practice of PjBL in higher education to increase student creative thinking

Abstract

The students' low learning outcomes suggest they struggle to grasp the material, likely due to boredom and passivity in class. To address this, teachers need innovative learning models that engage students actively. This study aimed to assess the impact of Picture and Picture (PnP) and Numbered Head Together (NHT) Cooperative Learning Models on fourth-grade students' learning outcomes in Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. Using a quasi-experimental method in two classes, the researcher found that in the first class, the average difference between using PnP and NHT was 17.62 points, while in the second class, the average difference was 21.19 points. Both classes show that PnP values are higher than NHT. The results of the t-test analysis show that in the two schools, there is a significant difference between the average score of PnP and NHT group (sig. values 0.005 and 0.006), so it is assumed that PnP is more effective than NHT. The research indicates that employing picture-based learning can significantly enhance learning outcomes compared to methods lacking visual aids. In conclusion, there is a difference in students' learning outcomes in the Sciences and Social Sciences (IPAS) subjects for fourth-graders of the State Elementary School of Kutowinangun 07 and State Elementary School of Kutowinangun 01 using PnP and NHT. The lack of direct media in the NHT class hindered understanding and effectiveness. In contrast, the PnP class's use of visually stimulating picture media enhanced engagement and learning outcomes. Students were more focused and participative, leading to significant improvements compared to other similar learning models.

Abstract

Various studies and child development experts highlight the risks of using gadgets in early childhood. A gadget is a small electronic device with various special functions that could potentially influence children’s developments. The research method used was quantitative, with a type of correlation research aimed to determine the relationship between variables of gadget use and social interaction development. The data collection technique employed a SAS (Smartphone Addiction Scale) questionnaire sheet to measure the use of gadgets and utilized Ages and Stages Questionnaires: Social Emotional (ASQ: SE) second edition to measure social interaction. The samples involved were children aged 5–6 years, totaling 39 children, 18 boys and 21 girls. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, which used appropriate categories or criteria to be studied in selecting the sample, namely children aged 5 -6 years. This research revealed that using gadgets influenced the development of social interactions in early childhood by the sig. value of -0.500 indicating the correlation. Children use gadgets because they are more interesting, responsive, and full of challenges than playing with friends in the surrounding environment. Based on the results of this research, the implication is providing parenting to people regarding the impact of gadget use on social interactions.
