Abstract

This research analyzes the influence of learning motivation on student learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 6 Palangka Raya City. Quantitative methods with descriptive and correlational designs were used, involving 100 students who filled out questionnaires regarding motivation and learning outcomes in Mathematics. The research results showed that the average student learning motivation reached 85.75%, while learning outcomes were only 78.30%. Even though there is a positive relationship between motivation and learning outcomes (r = 0.15), the t-test results (p = 0.128) show there is no significant effect. External factors such as innovative teaching methods and the home learning environment are proven to influence learning outcomes more. In conclusion, although motivation is important, other factors also play a significant role in improving student learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to present a preliminary planning of a mining road in Ampah District, East Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan, based on topographic survey data obtained using a Total Station. The survey was conducted along a ±10.971-meter alignment traversing an area characterized by undulating to hilly terrain. The Total Station was used to accurately acquire positional and elevation data along the alignment, which was then utilized to develop the longitudinal profile and cross-sections as the basis for the geometric road design. The survey results revealed natural ground elevation variations ranging from approximately ±15 meters to ±109 meters, with significant elevation adjustments required in several segments. The longitudinal profile indicated that most of the alignment would require fill operations, particularly at STA 3+258, 3+903, and 10+775, where fill depths exceeded 6 meters. Conversely, cut areas were also identified in the initial segments of the alignment, as shown by green indicators on the profile drawings. The horizontal geometric design involved 24 curves, incorporating geometric control points such as PC (Point of Curvature), PT (Point of Tangent), and PI (Point of Intersection), as well as spiral curves to ensure smooth directional transitions. Meanwhile, drainage systems and slope stabilization measures were addressed through technical cross-sectional designs at several critical points. Overall, the use of the Total Station in this study has proven effective in producing high-quality survey data that serves as an accurate foundation for the initial planning of the mining road. These findings support the development of an efficient alignment design, well-suited to the terrain conditions and operational requirements of mining activities.

Abstract

This study provides an in-depth examination of the types, functions, and symbolic meanings of traditional tools used in swidden agriculture (malan manana) by the Dayak Ngaju and Ot Danum communities in Central Kalimantan. As indigenous groups that continue to maintain shifting cultivation systems, the Dayak people possess a wide variety of tools that serve not only technical purposes but also embody ecological, social, and spiritual values. A qualitative approach using ethnographic methods was applied in this research, involving participant observation and in-depth interviews with cultural practitioners. The findings reveal how tools such as the karayan parei, utar, karuhei, and lisung are inseparable from daily life and reflect the local cosmology of the Dayak people. These tools are made from natural materials such as rattan, bamboo, ironwood (ulin), and pandan leaves, which are not only environmentally sustainable but also demonstrate the technical skill and high aesthetic value of local artisans. Furthermore, certain tools—such as the karuhei and tugal—carry meanings beyond their agrarian function, representing spiritual values and the relationship between humans and the guardian spirits of the land. Amidst the currents of modernization and shifting lifestyles, many of these tools are increasingly marginalized or abandoned. However, they remain highly relevant in the discourse of local knowledge preservation and material culture. This research contributes to the documentation of intangible cultural heritage and recommends strategies for preserving traditional tools as part of efforts toward social and ecological sustainability in indigenous territories of Kalimantan. As such, these tools are not merely anthropological artifacts, but representations of the interconnectedness between humans, the land, and the cosmos within the holistic value system of the Dayak people.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using reusable water tumblers in reducing the consumption of bottled drinking water among senior high school students in Denpasar City. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods through surveys using questionnaires and interviews with 322 respondents from two schools. The findings indicate that the average consumption of bottled drinking water before the habitual use of tumblers was 2.618 bottles per student per week, which decreased to 1 bottle per week after tumbler use became a regular practice. Pearson correlation analysis revealed a moderately strong negative relationship between tumbler usage frequency and plastic bottle consumption (r = -0.61). Furthermore, the linear regression model showed that each increase in tumbler usage level could reduce plastic bottle consumption by 0.69 bottles per week. The study concludes that the use of tumblers is effective in reducing bottled water consumption among students, although infrastructure support, such as water refill stations in schools, is still needed to optimize its impact.

Abstract

Access to safe and hygienic circumcision services remains a serious challenge for some Indonesians, especially for underprivileged families in densely populated urban areas like Bekasi. Ironically, circumcision has significant medical benefits, from preventing urinary tract infections and reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), to promoting reproductive hygiene. Beyond its medical benefits, circumcision also plays a strong social role as a symbol of a boy's transition to adulthood in Indonesian culture. This community service initiative aims to address the gap in access to circumcision services through a free mass circumcision program targeting children from underprivileged families. The implementation method includes target identification, health education for children and parents, circumcision using the dorsumsisi technique, and post-event support. The activity took place on July 12, 2025, in Bekasi, involving 40 children aged 5–13. Results showed that all participants underwent the circumcision process safely and without significant complications. This program not only positively impacted children's health and development but also strengthened self-confidence and strengthened social bonds within the community. This community service-based mass circumcision demonstrates that preventive health interventions can be integrated with social empowerment. This activity is worthy of widespread replication as a model of collaboration between higher education institutions, health workers, and local communities.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the interest of students of SMKN 5 Bandung and SMKN 1 Majalengka to continue their studies at the college level. The method used is descriptive quantitative, by distributing questionnaires to grade XII students at SMKN 5 Bandung and SMKN 1 Majalengka who have majors relevant to the Building Engineering Education Study Program. Data were analyzed based on four aspects, namely attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intentions. The questionnaire was compiled based on these four aspects and distributed to students of SMKN 5 Bandung and SMKN 1 Majalengka. The results of the study showed that most students had a strong intention to continue their studies in college, especially in the Building Engineering Education Study Program. This finding indicates a match between the majors they took at SMK, namely Building Modeling and Information Design (DPIB), with the choice of further study they were interested in. In addition, these results also illustrate that students have a positive view of educational sustainability, supported by the social environment and confidence in their abilities. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as consideration in the development of career guidance programs in schools and the promotion of relevant study programs in college.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the problem-solving ability of Physics Education students on the topic of chemical bonding and molecular shape in the Basic Chemistry course. The measurement was conducted in December 2024 using 20 essay-type questions developed based on Polya’s problem-solving indicators: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the strategy, and evaluating the result. The research subjects consisted of 12 students enrolled in the Basic Chemistry course. Data were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive statistics by calculating the percentage of achievement for each indicator. The results showed that the students’ problem-solving abilities varied across the indicators. The average achievement scores were 75.40% for understanding the problem (good category), 69.20% for devising a plan (fairly good category), 67.50% for carrying out the strategy (fairly good category), and 59.60% for evaluating the result (poor category). These findings indicate that students were relatively capable of understanding problems and planning solutions, but they still faced difficulties in consistently implementing strategies and were particularly weak in evaluating their results. In conclusion, the problem-solving ability of Physics Education students on the topic of chemical bonding and molecular shape was generally in the fairly good category, with the main weakness found in the evaluation stage. This study recommends the implementation of learning strategies that emphasize reflection and answer verification, such as problem-based or inquiry-based learning models, to enhance students’ problem-solving skills more comprehensively.

Abstract

Learning assessment in Vocational High Schools (SMK) plays a crucial role not only in measuring academic achievement but also in evaluating students’ readiness for the workforce. However, assessment practices at SMK Negeri 8 Palangka Raya still face several challenges, including the dominance of summative assessment, limited use of authentic instruments, and restricted application of technology as mandated by the Merdeka Curriculum. These conditions have resulted in low-quality learning outcome data and less effective remedial strategies. To address these issues, a community service program was carried out in the form of an educational seminar. The program was designed in three stages: preparation (needs analysis, development of materials, and evaluation tools), implementation (seminar sessions and interactive discussions on formative, authentic, and Higher Order Thinking Skills/HOTS-based assessment), and evaluation (a teacher satisfaction survey). Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. The evaluation results showed an average teacher satisfaction rate of 90,38%, with most indicators scoring ≥92,00%, particularly in material relevance, delivery methods, interactivity, and team professionalism. The lowest scores (84,62%) were found in time adequacy, classroom application of seminar results, and the program’s contribution to solving classroom problems, indicating the need for further support. These findings confirm that the program was effective in strengthening teachers’ competence in learning assessment, although follow-up strategies such as in-depth workshops and practical mentoring are necessary to optimize implementation.
