Abstract

Abstract: The 2024 General Election or General Election is a democratic celebration for the Indonesian nation which will be held simultaneously (election of president, legislative members and regional heads). So the potential for conflict or failure will be wide open. This potential becomes a logistics when reflecting on the 2019 elections, where there was a lot of spreading hatred, hoax news and even slander and violations on social media. That is why, this research focuses on the ethical role of communication in elections from a Christian ethical perspective. Therefore, even though the number of Christian voters is a minority, their position is also very urgent and strategic. Researchers use qualitative methods with emphasis on literature review and analysis. As a result of the research, three important roles of communication ethics in the 2024 Election were obtained, namely: communication ethics will produce cool and religious communication during the 2024 Election, communication ethics will reduce the spread of hatred, hoax news, and slander spread massively during the 2024 Election, and ethics Communication will create peaceful and conducive elections. Abstrak: Pemilu atau Pemilihan Umum 2024 merupakan pesta demokrasi bagi bangsa Indonesia yang dilaksanakan secara serentak (pemilihan presiden, anggota legislatif dan kepala daerah), sehingga potensi untuk terjadinya konflik atau perselisihan akan terbuka lebar. Potensi ini menjadi logis apabila berkaca pada Pemilu tahun 2019, di mana banyak menyebar ujaran kebencian, berita-berita hoaks hingga fitnah dan penghinaan di media sosial. Itulah sebabnya, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan peran etika komunikasi dalam Pemilu ditinjau dari perspektif etika Kristen. Oleh karena itu, sekalipun jumlah pemilih Kristen adalah minoritas, namun posisinya juga sangat urgen dan strategis. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menitikberatkan pada kajian dan analisis pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tiga peran penting etika komunikasi dalam Pemilu 2024, yakni: etika komunikasi akan menghasilkan komunikasi yang sejuk dan religius selama Pemilu 2024, etika komunikasi akan meredam tersebarnya ujaran kebencian, berita hoaks, hingga fitnah menyebar secara masif selama Pemilu 2024, dan etika komunikasi akan menciptakan Pemilu yang damai dan kondusif.

Abstract

Abstract: The message of the Cross of Christ and its proclamation is an urgent part of Biblical theology. The message of the Cross emphasizes the incarnate status of Jesus (John 1:14) or the humble status of Jesus in the “form” (Yun. MORPHE) of a servant (Yun. DOULOS), and being made in the likeness of men (Phil. 2:7). Without the incarnation of Jesus, there is no teaching about the Cross of Jesus in the Bible. This study aims to explore in depth Paul's thoughts on the meaning of the preaching of the cross of Christ, how his views provide significant theological insights for human life. The method used is qualitative with an exegetical analysis approach. The results of this study show that the exclusivity, uniqueness and antithesis of the preaching of the Cross of Christ in the perspective of 1 Corinthians 1: 18-25 is the only way of salvation according to Christian teaching and contains   absolute truth about salvation. Thus, the message of the cross was understood and accepted by the early church and its relevance for Christians today.

Abstract

Abstract: The Evangelical Christian Church in Timor has two ecclesiastical positions, namely ministry positions and organizational positions. The pastor is a church official who carries these two positions. As servants of Christ, pastors together with other church officials are given the task of translating the vision of the Kingdom of God and leading the implementation of the mission that Christ has entrusted to their church. In the GMIT Code, pastors are also referred to as employees. As employees, pastors are Expected to have involvement, motivation and dedication or employee engagement as a commitment to Christ through the church. With employee engagement, it is hoped that the spirituality of service will be maintained. This research aims to find out how employee engagement operates in the duties of GMIT pastors, especially in the West Kupang classist area and whether this influences the spirituality of their ministry. This research uses library study and field research methods. The results obtained in interviews with resource persons were then elaborated with theories related to the field study material. The results of the research show that GMIT pastors in the West Kupang area still have commitment as organizational officials and maintain spirituality as ministry officials.

Abstract

Abstract: The digital era heralds a phenomenon of information and communication technology development where aspects of human life can be publicised, including the context of religion, moral values, ethics, and education. This is considered important because it has the potential to produce something useful, ready to face the challenges and dynamics that continue to grow. The use of digital is certainly not free from its negative influences, including ethics and morality. Although it brings benefits, this era also presents challenges, such as the digital divide and information security. This article highlights the importance of Christian religious education in shaping individual character and morality as well as maintaining moral integrity amidst the ever-evolving digital information flow. In the context of Christian ethics, this study emphasises the need for relevant and responsive religious education to address digital dynamics while maintaining Christian values. Through a descriptive approach, this paper analyses the impact of the digital era on education and explains the foundation of Christian ethics in guiding learners' morality. The results show that Christian religious education remains a relevant force in shaping moral character in this digital age through ethical discussions using collaborative platforms, the significance of implementing digital ethics in the religious education curriculum, and the act of analysing big data to respond to the moral challenges of the digital age.

Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to explain the importance of contextualizing the practice of consolation worship in the slametan tradition in Javanese society as one of the church's missions for church growth. Slametan is a Javanese tradition that involves ceremonial offerings of food to ancestors and gods as a form of spiritual honor and respect. In the context of the church, the practice of consolation worship can be an effective means of connecting with the Javanese community and strengthening the relationship between the church and the community. To achieve the objectives and discussion, the researcher used a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were collected through literature study, direct observation, interviews with church leaders and Javanese community members, as well as content analysis of relevant sources. Data analysis was conducted to identify challenges and opportunities in contextualizing the practice of consolation worship in the slametan tradition. The results show that contextualizing the practice of consolation worship in the slametan tradition can produce a positive impact on church growth, strengthen relationships with Javanese communities, and provide relevant and meaningful pastoral care. Contextualization helps the church to build an inclusive community, where Javanese people feel valued, recognized, and accepted in the context of their faith. This research can also contribute to the importance of contextualizing the practice of consolation worship in the slametan tradition in Javanese society as one of the church's missions for dynamic church growth.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this article is to examine the significance of the role of Christian religious education in shaping the character of students or learners, especially in the midst of the turbulent dynamics of the times. In the era of the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes student empowerment and individual potential development, the professionalism of Christian religious education teachers is an important factor influencing character building. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The researcher reviewed and interpreted various related literature to refer to the results and conclusions. This study revealed the results that the identity and role of the teacher in the learning process is very important, with reference to his creativity, innovation, professionalism in education that has an impact on the character building of students, through the actions of conveying Christian teachings, building good relationships, providing emotional support, being a positive role model. This research also provides an important contribution for educational institutions to train and support Christian religious education teachers in developing professionalism to maximize their influence in shaping learners’ character.

Abstract

Abstract: Smoking is a lifestyle that is often found in the practical lives of people, including Christians and even servants of God. This practice raises pros and cons, because the concept of the Bible does not explicitly teach about “no smoking”. Meanwhile, the church is divided on how to deal with it, some consider it no problem, but others see it as something that should not be done. This study was conducted to find a theological principle from the Bible to affirm that Christians do not smoke. Using a qualitative research or literature review approach, several theological reasons were found as follows: (1) the body was created in the image and likeness of God, (2) the body has also received redemption in Christ, and (3) the body will also be resurrected and glorified in eternity.

Abstract

Abstract: The Transformation Call to Heaven Mission is the church's sending of believers to preach the Gospel in the world, to those who do not yet believe. Mission implementation can be realized well, so a strategy is needed to achieve the goal of reaching ethnic groups to the Gospel. This research uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method of the Gospel of Matthew 9:35. Jesus' Tri-Mission Strategy: Evangelizing, Teaching, Healing. The results of this research found a mission strategy that was divided into three steps. Compassion is the basic strategy for preaching the Gospel, moving to all places, and preaching the Gospel and teaching. This finding encourages every Christian to be more active in the Call to Heaven's Mission.

Abstract

This article aims to discover the leadership ethics of Judges 19:1-30. This text is filled with edifying teachings about the importance of good ethics-morality of a spiritual leader. A servant of God in his ministry cannot act at will, he always holds the values that are inherent to him, namely the ethics of a servant of God. For a leader, ethics-morality is an important part for him to carry out the duties of his calling. The book of Judges 19:1-30 shows how the ethics of a servant of God did not work properly, marked by the horrific moral decline of the Israelites at that time. This book contains educational teaching. The research method used qualitative research methods including narrative analysis and theological reflection of Judges 19:1-30 with the character of a Levite. The research intends to develop an ethic of leadership that is obedient and in accordance with God's will. The results of this study show that Judges 19:1-30 is a teaching of God's truth actualized through the life of a spiritual leader who lives in righteousness, holiness of self, high ethics and morality.

Abstract

In the context of Indonesian society, the LGBTQ community creates tensions with Christian views of the Bible's interpretation of human love and freedom. Conflicts arise between LGBTQ claims of individual freedom to express their sexual orientation and biblical teachings that emphasize moral boundaries. A strong emphasis is placed on the Christian perspective on LGBTQ issues in this paper, emphasizing the importance of understanding and applying biblical principles. Through a qualitative research method combining literature study and descriptive analysis, the arguments are developed with clarity and depth, supported by the Bible's grand narrative and specific verses. The discussion presents a comprehensive picture of the Christian view on LGBTQ, affirming that love should be shown to LGBTQ individuals without undermining the truth and will of God in the Bible. The contribution of the church in addressing this issue is emphasized, including the need to provide moral and spiritual support for individuals seeking repentance, as well as the role of the church as a place of spiritual restoration and renewal. The importance of considering biblical principles while still loving the individuals involved, thus presenting a balanced and insightful argument on the issue from a Christian perspective.
