Abstract

Outreach is a term that is very often heard in the evangelistic movement. The term is generally translated as trying to win lost souls. Interestingly, Jude 1:23 is often used in the context of soul winning with an emphasis on the word harpazontes. The purpose of this study is to put the right perspective on the word harpazontes and its implications from an evangelistic point of view. By using a qualitative method with a hermeneutic exegesis study to conduct a theological study of the word harpazontes, this article finds three results of the analysis of the word harpazontes, namely: first, the context of this word refers to the act of seizing souls who have repented only to become shaky and go back astray; second, the context of this word is different from the word "reaching" which refers more to new souls who have not heard of salvation; and third, in its implementation, every believer must also be vigilant and careful in service so as not to fall into sin. This research is a reference for information and opens insights into every evangelistic movement to continue to have compassion for souls and dare to snatch them from the fire.

Abstract

This study explores the ethical and theological responses to climate change, particularly at the intersection of anthropocentrism and eco-theology. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), the research investigates how theological perspectives guide ethical actions in climate change mitigation, with a specific focus on the Indonesian context. The findings highlight the central roles of stewardship and justice in religious responses. Indonesian Christian, Islamic, and indigenous spiritual traditions offer unique frameworks for addressing environmental challenges, thereby enriching the global discourse on climate ethics. The study also underscores the global significance of theological contributions to climate ethics, advocating for the integration of moral responsibility and environmental justice into climate policies and actions. In doing so, it provides insights into the potential of religious institutions and theological reflections to bolster climate action, both locally and globally.

Abstract

Abstract

Children's spiritual education is the main foundation in shaping their character and spirituality, with parents as the first educators in the family. However, in the modern era, parental involvement in children's spiritual education is in crisis due to various factors, such as busyness, economy, technology, the influence of secular culture, and a lack of understanding of the importance of spiritual education in the family. This study aims to identify the factors that lead to low parental involvement in children's spiritual education and explore solutions that can be implemented by churches and families. This research was conducted at Kemah Abraham Church Jakarta using a qualitative approach through observation, interview and documentation methods. The data collected was analyzed qualitatively to understand the challenges and strategies to increase parental involvement in children's spiritual education. The results show that several models of approaches that are relevant in the digital era, such as: Modeling, Family Worship, Digital Ministry, and Participatory models, as well as church strategies through faith-based parenting programs, online accessible materials and parental involvement can encourage Christian families to respond to the challenges of the times and maintain the role of the family as the center of children's spiritual education. It provides practical guidance for Christian families in implementing relevant, effective, and contextualized spiritual education in the modern era.

Abstract

Character in the New Testament perspective is closely related to a person who has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. Character is the main concern of Jesus Christ and the apostles because it reflects the growth of faith and the ability to implement His teachings in daily life. Character formation creates a person who fears God, lives in harmony with God's love, and follows the rules taught by Jesus. People who fear God tend to have a ritualistic attitude, love the truth, and are firm in moral principles. In contrast, people who do not fear God exhibit the opposite attitude. Christian character affects not only the number of believers, but also the quality of life in accordance with God's word. Christians are expected to exert a positive influence through their faith and good character, bear witness to Christ through their actions, and encourage others to follow Jesus' example. This study aims to explain the importance of Christian character in the New Testament as a foundation for believers to be role models, both for unbelievers and for the Christian community. In addition, Christian character has an important role in cultivating the traits of Christ in daily life. This research uses a qualitative research method with a Christian theological and ethical study approach, namely to understand the meaning and interpretation of experiences, beliefs, and practices.

Abstract

The phrase "Remnant of Israel" in Romans 11:5-10 is a theological concept that is often debated in New Testament studies. Some interpreters understand this phrase to refer to the ethnic remnant of Israel who remain faithful to God, while others interpret it as believers from various nations who are chosen by God through grace. This article aims to interpret the meaning of the phrase "Remnant of Israel" in the context of Romans 11:5-10 using an exegetical approach and biblical textual analysis. The results of the study show that the phrase "Remnant of Israel" in Romans 11:5-10 has two dimensions of meaning. First, it refers to the Jews who remain faithful to God, as happened in the time of Elijah when God preserved 7,000 people who did not worship Baal. Second, Paul expands this concept by linking it to God's grace, which allows not only the ethnic remnant of Israel, but also believers from other nations to become part of God's chosen people. Thus, the "Remnant of Israel" is not only limited to physical Israel, but also includes spiritual Israel, namely the church that believes in Jesus Christ as the Messiah. Study affirms that God's election is not based on human effort or goodness, but solely by His grace. This understanding has theological relevance for believers today, especially in understanding the relationship between Israel and the church in God's plan of salvation.
