Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of an integrated performance appraisal system in determining employee compensation, using a case study of Flip Indonesia. Performance appraisal and compensation are two critical components of human resource management that are closely interrelated. The research employs a quantitative descriptive approach, utilizing evaluation scores from four key aspects: goal setting, appraisal, scoring, and measurable compensation. The objective of this study is to identify the extent to which system integration can enhance employee motivation, productivity, and retention. The findings indicate that the system implemented by Flip Indonesia received high scores across all evaluation aspects, with measurable compensation achieving the highest score of 4.3. The integration of goal setting, performance evaluation, and scoring prior to determining compensation has proven effective in fostering transparency and fairness. These results reinforce the argument that a systematic, data-driven appraisal system can promote employee loyalty and support the achievement of strategic organizational goals. Therefore, this model may serve as a reference for other organizations in designing sustainable, performance-oriented HR policies.

Abstract

This study is a systematic literature review of 25 studies discussing hospital management in Indonesia during the National Health Insurance (JKN) era and collaboration with the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) Health. The focus of the review includes financial management, human resource management (HRM), business strategies, service quality, and claim issues. The synthesis of results shows that in the financial aspect, cost efficiency strategies, receivables optimization, and service diversification contribute to increased revenue and cash flow stability; however, discrepancies in INA-CBGs tariffs increase the risk of bankruptcy, especially for small hospitals. In the HRM aspect, continuous training, transformational leadership, and adaptation to BPJS regulations have proven to reduce patient complaints and improve employee performance. The implementation of JKN has increased patient volume and service accessibility but has pressured profit margins and revenue per patient. Effective business strategies include service diversification, innovation, process digitalization, and strengthening partnerships with BPJS. The main challenges lie in claim issues due to incomplete documentation, slow verification, and differences in diagnosis codes, which negatively affect hospital cash flow. This review confirms that the integration of financial and HRM management, supported by integrated information technology, is key to the sustainability of hospital operations in the JKN era.

Abstract

This study investigates the anxiety levels of students at STKIP Muhammadiyah Aceh Barat Daya when taking the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) as one of the graduation requirements. Using a descriptive quantitative research design, data were collected from 70 English Education students 6 male and 64 female—who had taken the TOEFL but had not yet reached the passing score of 485 for the paper-based test. The Test Anxiety Questionnaire by Nist and Diehl, adapted by Muliawati et al. (2020), was used to measure cognitive, physical, and emotional aspects of anxiety. The results showed that the majority of students (77.1%) experienced moderate anxiety, followed by 18.6% with mild anxiety, and 4.3% with severe anxiety. Cognitive anxiety emerged as the most affected aspect, with difficulty choosing an answer being the most frequently reported symptom. These findings indicate that while anxiety is common during TOEFL testing, most students can manage it effectively. The study suggests the need for targeted strategies such as exam simulations, stress management training, and counseling services to help students optimize their performance

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of accountability and transparency on the management of the Health Operational Assistance (BOK) fund at Puskesmas Jeumpa, Bireuen Regency. The topic was chosen due to the crucial role of BOK in supporting promotive and preventive health programs, and the frequent issues of fund mismanagement. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Primary data were collected through questionnaires with a Likert scale of 1–5 distributed to 73 respondents and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that both accountability and transparency have a positive and significant effect, both partially and simultaneously, on BOK fund management. The coefficient of determination of 78.8% shows that these two variables explain most of the variation in fund management. In conclusion, higher levels of accountability and transparency lead to better BOK fund management. It is recommended that the health center and local government strengthen accountability mechanisms, improve information disclosure, and enhance supervision to optimize the effective and efficient use of BOK funds.

Abstract

Educational financing is a vital component of the education system that plays a significant role in ensuring equitable access, improving quality, and enhancing the efficiency of educational implementation. This study examines various education financing models implemented in Indonesia, ranging from government and community-based sources to philanthropic and social solidarity alternatives such as ta’awun funds. The purpose of this article is to explore and analyze the models of education financing. The method used is a literature review by collecting information from various sources relevant to the topic. The results indicate that Indonesia applies a mixed financing system, which is a modification of several international models, such as the Power Equalizing model, the Foundation Plan, and direct subsidy schemes like the School Operational Assistance (BOS). Previous studies emphasize the importance of careful planning, strong supervision, and accountability in managing education funds. Furthermore, the decentralization of education requires synergy between the central and local governments to ensure effective budget utilization. In conclusion, no single model is entirely ideal; therefore, a combination of models that are adaptive to the socio-economic conditions of each region, while considering the principles of equity, efficiency, and sustainability, is necessary. With effective financing, education in Indonesia is expected to become a key driver of human resource development and national progress.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of picture media in enhancing students’ procedural text writing skills through a quasi-experimental design involving 60 senior high school students, equally divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received instruction supported by picture media, whereas the control group was taught using conventional methods. Pretests and posttests were administered, with data analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test for the experimental group (non-normal distribution), the Paired Sample t-Test for the control group, and the Mann–Whitney U Test to compare posttest scores between groups. The findings reveal that both groups demonstrated significant improvement; however, the experimental group achieved a greater mean gain score (27.26) compared to the control group (15.50) and a higher posttest mean (83.43 vs. 65.50). The Mann–Whitney U Test produced a p-value of 0.000, confirming a statistically significant difference in performance. The greatest improvement was observed in content development, followed by organization and vocabulary. These results highlight the effectiveness of picture media in fostering students’ comprehension, engagement, and ability to sequence ideas coherently when writing procedural texts. The study concludes that picture-based instruction offers a more impactful and inclusive pedagogical approach for teaching procedural text writing in senior high schools.

Abstract

One of the problems in learning English as a foreign language (EFL) in Indonesia is students' lack of understanding the use of slang or casual language. This problem occur because learning in school generally emphasize grammar rather than casual use of everyday language, as often found in film or native conversations. Slang is usually difficult for students to understand because the context of its use is not always clear, and the meaning can be different from the literal meaning. In addition, the limited authentic partially open materials become an obstacle in presenting contextual and interesting learning. Based on this background, this study aims to analyze types of slang in the film Inside Out 2 and assess its potential as an authentic material to improve students' speaking skills. This research useds a qualitative method with a content analysis approach to the discourse script of the film to identify, classify, and interpret the use of various slang in each dialogue film. The results showed that there are various types of slang used naturally and according to the context of adolescent life, which are classified into five categories ; consiting of fresh and creative, flippant, imitative, acrinym, and clipping. For further research, it is suggested that the development of learning media be carried out by utilizing films that contain slang elements. This media can be a form of digital modules, interactive videos,or student worksheets (LKS) that include conversational exercises, context understanding, and active use of slang. This contextualized approach is believed to increase speaking ability and cultural understanding of native English speakers.

Abstract

Parental involvement is a critical driver of student motivation and achievement worldwide, yet its specific role in fostering intrinsic motivation among Indonesian learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) remains underexplored. This systematic review examines 13 empirical studies published between 2019 and 2024, identifying five principal themes of parental engagement: academic support and resource provision, emotional and motivational involvement, parental beliefs and expectations, home environment and external influences, and learner autonomy with motivational outcomes. The analysis shows that parents who actively participate, providing resources, encouragement, and positive beliefs, significantly strengthen their children’s self-driven interest and persistence in English learning. Moreover, a supportive and stimulating home environment, alongside opportunities for autonomy, are found to be decisive factors in sustaining intrinsic motivation. The findings highlight the multifaceted mechanisms through which parental behaviors enable Indonesian EFL learners to internalize the value of English proficiency, emphasizing the necessity for educational policies and parental engagement programs that strategically cultivate these motivational pathways. Ultimately, leveraging these insights can enhance both instructional practices and learners’ long-term language outcomes.
