Abstract

The research objective was to examine the correlation between learning motivation and critical thinking skills. This research design was descriptive correlation research with a quantitative approach. Additionally, the research sample consisted of 72 students. The data collection technique used learning motivation questionnaires and a critical thinking ability test. The data were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and a simple regression test assisted by IBM SPSS 20. The results of the correlation test obtained rxy = 0.367. Therefore, it can be interpreted that the correlation category was at a low correlation level. Furthermore, using a simple linear regression test, the researchers got an R-square value = 0.135. It meant that learning motivation contributed 13.5% to critical thinking skills, with a significance through tcount (3,300) > ttable (1,994). The results showed that there was a significant correlation between critical thinking skills with learning motivation.

Abstract

The Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) are mandatory state laws that must be used as a guideline for training construction workers to improve their competence in construction projects. However, in implementation, there are still many obstacles to achieving success. Therefore, a study is needed to measure the extent to which competency improvement training, which is outlined based on the SKKNI, has an impact on good human resource quality practices by contractors in Indonesia. The questionnaire survey was distributed to 192 construction workers who had obtained a Skills Certificate (SKT) and were involved in 32 multi-storey building construction projects in Jakarta, Indonesia, where Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used for data analysis. It was found that the training indicators for competency improvement were mainly the suitability of training materials and relevant fields of work in accordance with the certificate; close relationship between construction workers and management, development of communication skills, the ability of senior workers to share knowledge with juniors, and provision of work motivation; and the expected results from competency improvement training basically include the ability to use a systematic method approach, combine work strategies, plans, settings, goals and priorities, and the ability to choose models of various types and styles of communication. The results showed that competency improvement training with achievement based on SKKNI had a close relationship, SKKNI influenced the improvement of the quality of human resources, but the training results were not significant for the human resources used by contractors.

Abstract

The existence of rural women has always been identified as the most vulnerable group to losing their livelihoods due to limited access to assets. This study examines the role of local institutions (traditions, local wisdom and norms) in securing the women's livelihoods. This study is done in a qualitative manner with an ethnographic approach that focuses on cultural studies in a holistic sense of social groups using the perspective of a sustainable livelihood framework. This research was conducted in negeri Booi, Saparua island, Central Maluku from July to December 2020. The informants included Raja, dusung owners, women nutmeg collectors and the village government agency. The primary data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations and focus group discussions (FGD). The results show that the livelihood strategies used by the rural communities in dealing with various livelihood vulnerabilities through the use of livelihood assets could be collaborated with local wisdom or traditions as informal insurance, so that the efforts to “save or secure” the poor from “unsafe” to “safer” conditions could be guaranteed and continued to be sustainable. In short, the local wisdom of collecting nutmeg intended for women in negeri Booi had guaranteed the sustainability of women's income sources.
