Abstract

Education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah should foster faith awareness, creativity, and noble character, not merely memorization, by balancing cognitive, emotional, and spiritual aspects. The learning process needs to be more democratic so that children can develop their potential, character, and personality in accordance with their natural disposition through a theocentric humanism approach that integrates human values and divine unity. Theocentric humanism in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah within the independent learning framework emphasizes developing children’s natural disposition as active subjects oriented toward God, with the principle of life balance. Its implementation can be realized through methods such as playing, storytelling, singing, role modeling, and habituation both inside and outside the classroom. The ultimate goal is to shape a generation with noble character (akhlaq karimah), growing holistically and grounded in monotheism (tawhid).

Abstract

This research is driven by the need to understand the role of Islamic education as a tool for social transformation within the complex context of urban society, particularly in Bekasi City. KH Muhammad Muhajirin Amsar is recognized as a figure who integrates Islamic education and social reform to cultivate a more critical and inclusive community awareness. The study aims to reveal the methods and strategies employed by KH Muhammad Muhajirin Amsar in developing progressive Islamic education that acts as an agent of social change. This study employs a literature review and qualitative analysis of documents, literature, and secondary sources related to Islamic educational leadership and social reform. Results indicate that KH Muhammad Muhajirin Amsar succeeded in creating an adaptive pesantren-based Islamic education model that meets modern demands and strengthens social awareness and solidarity through a dialogical and inclusive approach. The study confirms that integrating Islamic education with social reform serves as an effective instrument in fostering community social awareness, especially in urban settings such as Bekasi.This research contributes significantly to understanding the role of local figures in merging religious values with contemporary social dynamics, and paves the way for further studies on the relationship between Islamic education and social reform.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the digital era, using a case study at SMP Negeri 1 Jepon. This transformation is crucial because advances in information and communication technology have brought about significant changes in the learning process, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). A qualitative approach was used in this study, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the use of digital media, such as e-learning platforms, learning applications, and social media, can improve the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, both in terms of material distribution and teacher-student interaction. Factors supporting this transformation include the availability of technological facilities, teachers' ability to utilize digital media, and students' desire to learn. However, the study also found several obstacles, such as limited internet access, differences in students' digital literacy, and the need for intensive teacher mentoring. Overall, the PAI transformation undertaken at SMP Negeri 1 Jepon demonstrates that digitalization helps make learning more interactive, contextual, and relevant to the needs of the digital generation.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis, marked by climate change, deforestation, pollution, and the increasing frequency of natural disasters, requires stronger ecological awareness, particularly among younger generations. Generation Z, as digital natives, holds great potential to become agents of change in integrating religious values with ecological concern. This study aims to analyze Generation Z’s perception of ecotheology and environmental awareness in religious contexts. The method employed is a literature review with content analysis of eight scholarly articles discussing ecotheology, disaster theology, youth movements, Islamic education, and global spirituality perspectives. The findings reveal that Generation Z tends to adopt a more critical perspective on environmental issues compared to previous generations and is able to connect faith-based values with ecological practices through social movements, education, and digital platforms. The study concludes that Generation Z plays a crucial role in shaping ecotheological narratives that are both religious and adaptive to modern challenges, thereby fostering a Muslim generation that is religious, ecological, and prepared to face global environmental crises.

Abstract

In Islamic perspective, the family holds a fundamental position as the first educational institution that instills moral, spiritual, and social values in children. Parents bear full responsibility for shaping an Islamic personality through exemplary behavior, affection, and the cultivation of worship habits. This study aims to examine the role of parents in home-based Islamic education and to formulate strategies for nurturing children’s character based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature study method that draws from relevant academic sources. The findings indicate that the success of family education is determined by the level of awareness, consistency, and active involvement of parents in the guidance process. Effective strategies for character development include the habituation of worship, spiritual communication, moral exemplification, and compassionate discipline. A household that lives by Islamic values holistically serves as the primary foundation for raising a generation that is faithful, ethical, and strong in character within its social life.

Abstract

This study examines teacher effectiveness in implementing multicultural Islamic education in a pluralistic society. The research aims to understand how teachers design, execute, evaluate, and exemplify inclusive learning that fosters tolerance, justice, and respect for diversity. Using a qualitative library research approach, relevant literature was analyzed to explore strategies that promote student engagement, collaboration, and social-emotional growth. The findings reveal that effective teachers integrate multicultural values into lesson planning, apply dialogical and participatory teaching methods, and design assessments that measure not only cognitive achievement but also attitudes and social behaviors. Exemplary behavior plays a central role, as students model their conduct on teachers’ daily actions, reinforcing ethical and moral standards. Despite challenges such as limited training, insufficient teaching materials, and social resistance, opportunities exist through supportive educational policies, digital learning tools, and professional development initiatives. Effective teachers transform these challenges into opportunities for innovation, ensuring that multicultural Islamic education cultivates empathy, inclusivity, and moderation among learners. The study concludes that teacher effectiveness encompasses strategic planning, active implementation, comprehensive evaluation, and moral exemplarity, contributing to the formation of students capable of thriving in diverse and harmonious communities.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the Iqra Bil Qalam method in enhancing Qur’anic reading and writing skills among students at SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga. The research was motivated by the fact that several students still struggled with reading hijaiyah letters fluently and writing Arabic script accurately, which hindered their overall Qur’anic literacy. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study involved seventh-grade students as participants, and data were gathered through classroom observations, teacher interviews, and Qur’anic reading and writing ability tests (BTQ). The findings demonstrate that applying the Iqra Bil Qalam method through systematic stages—such as letter recognition, guided writing practice with the follow the line technique, and regular practice of reading short verses with correct articulation and tajwid led to significant improvements in students’ accuracy, fluency, and confidence in Qur’anic literacy. Furthermore, the availability of adequate instructional media, intensive teacher guidance, and strong student motivation were identified as key supporting factors in the success of this method. The study concludes that the Iqra Bil Qalam method provides an effective and practical strategy to strengthen students’ Qur’anic literacy and recommends its sustainable implementation in Islamic secondary schools. Penelitian ini mengkaji implementasi metode Iqra Bil Qalam dalam meningkatkan kemampuan baca tulis Al-Qur’an pada siswa SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah adanya sebagian siswa yang masih mengalami kesulitan dalam melafalkan huruf hijaiyah secara fasih dan menulis huruf Arab dengan benar, sehingga berpengaruh terhadap tingkat literasi Al-Qur’an mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek siswa kelas VII, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi kelas, wawancara guru, dan tes kemampuan baca tulis Al-Qur’an (BTQ). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Iqra Bil Qalam melalui tahapan pengenalan huruf, latihan menulis dengan teknik follow the line, serta pembiasaan membaca ayat-ayat pendek sesuai makhraj dan tajwid, terbukti mampu meningkatkan ketepatan, kelancaran, dan rasa percaya diri siswa dalam literasi Al-Qur’an. Selain itu, tersedianya media pembelajaran yang memadai, pendampingan guru secara intensif, serta motivasi belajar siswa yang tinggi menjadi faktor pendukung utama keberhasilan metode ini. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa metode Iqra Bil Qalam merupakan strategi yang efektif dan aplikatif untuk memperkuat kemampuan literasi Al-Qur’an siswa, serta direkomendasikan untuk diterapkan secara berkesinambungan di sekolah menengah Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process and outcomes of internalizing women’s fiqh among female students (santriwati) at Pondok Pesantren Al Akrom through the learning of the Fathul Qarib text authored by Shaykh Ibn Qasim Al-Ghazy. The main issue examined is how the values of women’s fiqh are internalized through learning activities within the pesantren environment, which is characterized by a distinctive educational tradition rooted in classical Islamic scholarship. This research employs a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and triangulation to ensure data validity. The data were analyzed descriptively through three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the internalization of women’s fiqh is carried out systematically through three main stages—planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning—each aimed at fostering both conceptual understanding and practical application of women’s fiqh principles in daily life. The process results in three learning dimensions: knowing (understanding the principles of women’s fiqh), doing (applying those values in everyday practice), and being (embodying them as part of the students’ religious character). One concrete outcome of this process is the creation and use of a menstrual calendar as a reflective and practical learning tool. Overall, the learning of women’s fiqh through the Fathul Qarib text provides a meaningful and profound contribution to strengthening religious knowledge, spiritual awareness, and the formation of Islamic identity among female students in the pesantren.
