Abstract

Emergencies and conditions can occur at any time. Preventive measures are necessary to reduce accidents and emergencies. This research, which measures the level of understanding of tenant employees regarding the use of light fire extinguishers in airport terminals, is of significant importance. The study used a mixed methods research approach with a sample of 77 people and obtained measurable values for tenant employees' understanding of light fire extinguishers. The results included 87% of tenant employees understanding emergencies, 81.8% knowing the meaning of light fire extinguishers, 55.8% knowing how to use light fire extinguishers, 58.4% who have never participated in socialization on light fire extinguishers use, and 83.1% who did not have a certificate/license for using light fire extinguishers, provide a crucial basis for further policy-making. In the form of preventive actions, these policies will be carried out by aircraft rescue and fire fighting in the form of fire prevention outreach/training through educational innovations in using light fire extinguishers via videos accessed by all tenant employees. The success of these actions will be measured through pre/post-test results before and after the material intervention, with certificates issued to participants who meet the assessment scoring. As part of the airport community, active participation in these initiatives is not just crucial but also a responsibility and a testament to the ownership of the safety of all airport users.

Abstract

Early childhood education (ECE) is a pivotal stage in human development, establishing the groundwork for lifelong learning and holistic growth. Children acquire foundational academic skills during this period while developing crucial social, emotional, and cognitive abilities. This study investigates the effectiveness of collaborative learning with parents in enhancing children's creative abilities in creating collage art using natural materials in kindergartens in Central Java. Participants included 15 kindergarten students, 10 teachers, five principals, and two parents. Data were collected through interviews, documentation, and questionnaires to capture in-depth participant experiences. The Findings indicate that using natural materials—such as leaves, seeds, and twigs—stimulates children's creativity, fine motor skills, and cognitive development. Additionally, it fosters stronger relationships among children, parents, and the school community, contributing to a holistic educational experience. This research emphasizes the significance of utilizing natural materials in early childhood collage art to foster creativity while incorporating local cultural values. The implications of this research extend to education policies, encouraging the adoption of culturally relevant teaching methods and educators seeking innovative strategies to blend creativity, sustainability, and cultural identity in early learning.

Abstract

The coastal zone consists of a diverse range of resources. This area's ecosystems are also quite complex and dynamic. Information about the coastal zone is necessary to provide knowledge to readers, which will be helpful for conservation efforts, sustainable planning and development, further research, and fostering coastal environmental literacy. This study aims to collect information about the resources present in the coastal zone and then integrate it into relevant learning materials such as geography. This research is a narrative review literature study. Secondary data was obtained from the Fisheries and Marine Affairs Office of West Sumatra Province, along with relevant scientific articles. Several related articles and government documents were collected, analyzed, and summarized in the body of this article. The information concerning appropriate geography learning materials was then analyzed to produce relevant content diagrams. The results of the literature review show that coastal zone resources include mangrove areas, coral reefs, seagrass beds, biodiversity, and marine tourism. Some geography learning materials for secondary school levels in Indonesia include marine and coastal materials, hydrodynamics, coastal and marine pollution, natural resources, biodiversity, ecosystems, flora and fauna, environmental and population geography, and tourism geography. The findings of this research can serve as a reference for researchers and practitioners to develop and integrate the potential of coastal areas into relevant learning.

Abstract

This study addresses the challenge of enhancing students' academic performance, including creativity, learning achievement, problem-solving ability, motivation, and attitude, by integrating problem-solving into biology lessons through Scratch and Project-based Learning (PjBL). The focus was on high school students studying the digestive system, a topic often taught through traditional lecture-based methods, which can limit engagement and deeper understanding. A quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest was employed, involving 105 eleventh-grade students divided into three groups: PjBL with Scratch, PjBL without Scratch, and a control group receiving direct instruction (DI). The same teacher taught all groups to ensure consistency. Research instruments included cognitive tests, problem-solving assessments, and questionnaires measuring creativity, motivation, and attitudes toward biology and programming. Results indicated that PjBL with the Scratch group significantly outperformed the other two groups in all aspects, demonstrating improved learning outcomes and a greater ability to apply knowledge in creative and meaningful ways. Students expressed higher motivation and more positive attitudes toward the subject matter. This study concludes that integrating Scratch with PjBL enriches biology education and enhances interdisciplinary learning. The findings contribute to educational science by offering a scalable, innovative model that bridges STEM fields and fosters critical 21st-century skills.

Abstract

The concept of mathematics is inextricably linked to the fabric of everyday life. Indeed, the cultural milieu of a given region can also profoundly influence how mathematical concepts are employed. Ethnomathematics represents a component of the mathematical learning process that integrates mathematical concepts within a given culture. This study aims to ascertain the characterization of ethnomathematics within the Madurese culture as reflected in the emancipated curriculum in Bangkalan Regency. This study employs an ethnographic approach, following a series of stages or cycles. The ethnographic research cycle comprises six stages: the selection of an ethnographic project, the formulation of ethnographic questions, the collection of ethnographic data, the production of ethnographic recordings, and the analysis of ethnographic data. Thematic ethnographic analysis was employed as the data analysis technique in this ethnographic study to provide a comprehensive description of the characteristics of Madurese culture in the emancipated curriculum. The research report's primary focus is a descriptive account of the cultural context. This study's findings indicate that mathematical concepts are embedded within the Madurese culture in Bangkalan Regency and can be leveraged as a learning medium in educational activities and as a representation of real-world mathematical geometry. Consequently, integrating these mathematical concepts within the Madurese culture in Bangkalan Regency can enhance students' comprehension of geometry.

Abstract

Dimensional analysis to determine the construct that makes up the instrument as one of the requirements before the analysis is often ignored. Proving dimensions is important because the correct specification of the number of latent dimensions is directly related to construct validity and will determine the appropriate software, approach, and analysis model parameters. Therefore, this research aims to prove the unidimensionality of the Cognitive Test Instrument for Evaluation of Science Learning (CTIESL) through Exploratory Factor Analysis with the Principal Component Analysis Extraction Method. The instrument consisted of 13 essay questions and was responded to by science pre-service teachers who took the Science Learning Evaluation Course (98 people). The results of the analysis prove that the CTIESL has a unidimensional construct based on the Scree Test criteria (detected only one point before the elbow on the scree plot) and the cumulative percent of variance extracted, which shows a satisfactory value (79.232%) so that this instrument is proven only to measure one latent trait, namely the cognitive ability to evaluate the science learning. By fulfilling this unidimensional assumption, the psychometric characteristics of the CTIESL can be explored further with Item Response Theory: 1-Logistic Parameters, 2-Logistic Parameters, or 3-Logistic Parameters, depending on needs.
