Abstract

The success of learning is not only determined by the teaching materials and the teacher's ability to convey information, but also depends greatly on how far the strategies used are able to accommodate the diversity of student characteristics, especially learning styles. In reality, students in the classroom have different learning preferences, some understand better through visual stimulation, auditory information, and some through physical movement or direct touch. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of visual activity-based learning strategies in accommodating the different learning styles of seventh-grade junior high school students. In the context of the diversity of student learning styles—be they visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or a combination of the three—an adaptive, engaging instructional approach is needed that is able to optimally facilitate individual needs. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach implemented in two cycles, with the application of visual strategies in the form of drawing and coloring activities integrated with mind mapping techniques to respond to the needs of visual, kinesthetic, and auditory or mixed students. The results showed an increase in student learning engagement from 88.6% in the first cycle to 99.33% in the second cycle. Students demonstrated active participation, increased self-confidence, and a stronger understanding of concepts. This strategy also encouraged the creation of an inclusive learning environment that was responsive to diverse learning styles. These findings emphasize the urgency of using visual strategies as a form of learning differentiation in heterogeneous classroom contexts, while enriching pedagogical approaches that holistically integrate students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren) are traditional Islamic educational institutions that have played a vital role in shaping the character, spirituality, and intellectuality of Muslims in Indonesia. However, technological advances and current social transformations require Islamic boarding schools to adapt quickly to remain relevant and contribute to modern society. Technological transformation in the Society 5.0 era encourages all sectors, including Islamic education, to integrate advanced technology with humanitarian values. As educational institutions based on Islamic tradition, Islamic boarding schools face significant challenges and opportunities in responding to the demands of an increasingly digitalized and automated society. This article discusses how Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School, as a modern Islamic boarding school, adapts to the Society 5.0 paradigm by developing a curriculum that combines traditional values and technological innovation with the principles of digital learning and a human-centered society as idealized in the Society 5.0 concept. Using an exploratory qualitative approach, this study relies on interview data, documentation, and literature review with a comparative analysis of Deguchi's Society 5.0 theory and Bernie Trilling's 21st-century skills theory. This study shows that Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School has made significant innovations in designing a curriculum that prioritizes life skills, digital literacy, and comprehensive Islamic character formation. This is realized through the implementation of the Tarbiyatul Muallimin Al-Islamiyah (TMI) curriculum which is based on the values of Maqashid al-Syari'ah, integration of digital technology, and strengthening 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health problem with increasing prevalence, including among adolescents. Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data shows an increase in the prevalence of chronic kidney disease from 7.0% in 2013 to 19.33% in 2018. This condition is influenced by risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and an unhealthy lifestyle, which in young people is often associated with lack of physical activity, poor diet, insufficient sleep, and smoking. If left untreated, hypertension can progress to CKD, which requires hemodialysis, impacting adolescents' productivity and future. Preventive efforts require effective, engaging, and easy-to-understand health education strategies. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of comic media in increasing adolescents' knowledge about CKD prevention. The study used a mixed methods design with a research and development approach, involving 30 randomly selected students from Muhammadiyah Middle School in East Jakarta. The research instruments included a media feasibility test by material experts and media experts, as well as a pre-test and post-test of respondents' knowledge. The results showed that comic media was considered very effective by both material experts (97.5%) and media experts (≥82%). Students' knowledge significantly increased from 64.44 to 75.97 (p=0.001) with an N-Gain value of 0.33 (moderate category). In conclusion, comic media is effective as a health education tool to increase adolescents' knowledge in preventing CKD.

Abstract

Gross motor development of children is very important for the survival of children because if it is disturbed, the child will experience inhibition of the child's movement which is influenced by the nerve muscles themselves, for example walking, running, jumping and others. Gross motor development can develop well and optimally if the food intake we eat is balanced and fulfilled, therefore the importance of providing nutritional intake. This study aims to determine the impact of a healthy and nutritious food program on the gross motor skills of children aged 2-3 years at Abdurrahman Bin Auf Kindergarten, East Jakarta. Gross motor development in early childhood is an important aspect that is closely related to physical readiness, health, and the child's ability to carry out daily activities. The results of the study indicate that a healthy and nutritious food program has a significant positive impact on children's gross motor skills, including balance, coordination, and specific abilities such as walking, running, and jumping. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. This study involved interviews with the principal, teachers, and parents, as well as direct observation of children's gross motor skills. The study results showed that children who participated in a healthy and nutritious food program had better gross motor skills than those who did not. Abstract

Speaking skills are essential abilities acquired through experience, social interaction, and education, thus falling under extragenetic knowledge transmitted through culture rather than genetics. Speaking skills serve not only as a means of conveying information, but also as a medium for expressing ideas, building social relationships, and constructing and negotiating meaning in the communication process. In an educational context, speaking skills are an indicator of learning success because they reflect students' ability to understand, process, and communicate the knowledge they have acquired effectively. This study aims to analyze how the interactive quiz platform Bamboozle can be utilized to enhance learners’ speaking skills based on the principles of extragenesis. The method employed is a literature review, examining books and scholarly articles related to extragenesis, speaking skills, and gamification/interactive quizzes, sourced from Scopus-indexed journals and other relevant publications. The findings indicate that speaking skills can be developed through active practice in interactive learning contexts, and Bamboozle provides a platform for learners to practice responding, engaging in discussion, and receiving instant feedback, thereby improving retention and motivation. Based on these results, it is recommended that educators integrate Bamboozle as a learning tool to support speaking skill development, combining game elements and interactivity to maximize extragenetic knowledge transfer, and encourage broader application in both online and face-to-face learning to continuously enhance students’ communication abilities.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of non-certified and unprepared instructional staff on the quality of education and student well-being within educational institutions. Through a synthesis of student testimonials, supervisor account, and educator reflections, the research identifies a significant correlation between a lack of professional teacher certification and systemic instructional failure. The findings reveal that pedagogical incompetence frequently results in poor classroom management, chaotic learning environments, and the inability to meet core curriculum objectives. Furthermore, the data indicates that uncertified teachers often lack the developmental insight necessary to support students' psychological and emotional needs, leading to increased student anxiety. The study also highlights broader systemic consequences, including the overburdening of teacher mentors, fragmented team collaboration, and increased financial pressure on parents to seek supplemental tutoring due to mismatched teacher expertise. Ultimately, these narratives underscore that professional certification is a vital prerequisite for effective, empathetic education. The study concludes that prioritizing the recruitment of qualified, credentialed educators is essential to maintaining institutional standards and ensuring equitable, high-quality learning outcomes for all students.

Abstract

Early childhood is in its golden age, a crucial period for physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. During this period, children are highly sensitive to stimulation from their environment, particularly the family, their primary and primary environment. Children’s independence is an essential aspect of early childhood development that should be stimulated from an early age, particularly in self-help skills such as dressing. Parents play a crucial role through the parenting styles they apply. This study aims to determine the influence of parental parenting styles on the independence of children aged 5–6 years in dressing. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational survey method. The sample consisted of 35 children aged 5–6 years at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 91 Kindergarten, Rawalumbu, selected using a census sampling technique. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires on parenting styles and children’s dressing independence. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The results showed that parental parenting styles had a positive and significant effect on children’s independence in dressing, with a regression coefficient of 0.147, a t-value of 2.966 greater than the t-table value of 2.034, and a significance value of 0.006 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that better parental parenting styles contribute to higher levels of independence in dressing among children aged 5–6 years.
