Abstract

People working in agricultural environments with high humidity levels are at greater risk of exposure to pathogenic fungi, which can trigger infections of the skin, nails, and respiratory tract, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems. On the other hand, the elderly are vulnerable to health decline, including autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which can cause joint inflammation, tissue damage, and progressive disability. This community service activity aims to increase public knowledge about the dangers of pathogenic fungal contamination and to conduct early detection of RA through Rheumatoid Factor (RF) testing. Education was delivered interactively using lectures, discussions, and visual media, accompanied by pre- and post-tests, as well as RF testing using the latex agglutination method. This community service activity was attended by 33 participants. Results showed an increase in knowledge from 58% to 91% after the education, with all 33 RF test participants receiving non-reactive results. This program demonstrates that the combination of education and simple testing can increase public preventive awareness and is suitable for adaptation in other areas with similar risk characteristics.

Abstract

Absdtract. The development of digital financial services or financial technology (fintech) has had a significant impact on the financial behavior of young people. Senior high school students are increasingly exposed to application-based financial services, yet their level of financial literacy remains low. Data from the 2025 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK) by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) shows that Indonesia’s financial literacy index stands at 66.46%, while the financial inclusion index reaches 80.51%. Among the 15–17 age group, the literacy level is only 51.86%, indicating a wide gap between the utilization of financial services and the understanding of inherent risks. This community service program was carried out at SMAN 1 Bangsal, Mojokerto, with the aim of improving financial literacy and introducing fintech safely to students. The implementation method included needs analysis, interactive workshops, digital financial application simulations, and evaluations through pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed a significant increase in students’ understanding average financial literacy scores improved by 70–100% across various indicators. Students demonstrated wiser attitudes in managing pocket money, recording expenses, and understanding the risks of illegal online loans. This program reinforces previous literature stating that the integration of financial literacy with digital literacy can foster healthy financial behavior. Abstrak. Abstract

A major problem frequently faced by the public is clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS). According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2014, health can be achieved by changing unhealthy behaviors into healthy ones and creating a health-supportive environment. Effective measures include handwashing with soap and environmental inspections. This activity aims to increase public awareness of the importance of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), while also introducing the dangers of microbiological contamination that can occur on hands and water. Community service activities are carried out through the stages of pre-test, education, post-test, sampling, and sample examination. Of the 34 respondents, the majority experienced a significant reduction in hand bacteria, with 21 showing a reduction in hand bacteria of more than 70% and some reaching 99–100%. Well water examinations at several public facilities for Pekingan village residents showed the presence of Coliform bacteria exceeding the safe limits according to the Ministry of Health Regulation, indicating that the water is not suitable for direct consumption due to possible contamination by domestic waste, septic tank seepage, or poor environmental sanitation. The conclusion of this Community Service activity is that there is an increase in respondents' understanding and an increase in their ability to practice proper handwashing. Water sanitation in public facilities needs to be considered and improved because it should not be used for consumption.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a growing health problem, including among adolescents in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) where diets are high in fat and low in fiber, and physical activity is limited. This condition carries a risk of developing cardiovascular disease, necessitating preventive interventions tailored to the characteristics of the Islamic boarding school community. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to increase students' knowledge and awareness of high cholesterol prevention through healthy lifestyle education and the use of bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) as an alternative herbal cholesterol-lowering agent. The program's innovation lies in integrating evidence-based health education with local wisdom, making it easily implemented in Islamic boarding schools. The activity was conducted at the Zainul Hasan Genggong Islamic Boarding School in Probolinggo in May 2025, involving 30 students and 14 religious teachers. The methods used included an initial survey, FGDs, interactive counseling with pre- and post-test evaluations, and free health checks, including anthropometry, blood pressure, and blood sugar measurements, medical consultations, and medication administration. The primary outcome was increased participant knowledge, measured by comparing pre-test and post-test scores and baseline health data from the examination. The results of the activity showed an average increase in participant knowledge of 23.4 points between the pre-test and post-test. Students also gained practical skills in using bay leaves as a daily ingredient beneficial for health.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the chronic nutritional problems that remains a major challenge in rural areas of Indonesia, including in Sungai Pinang Lama Village, Sungai Tabuk Subdistrict, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. This condition is generally caused by limited community knowledge about balanced nutrition, restricted access to clean water, and inadequate environmental sanitation. Stunting prevention efforts need to be carried out in an integrated manner through community empowerment, particularly empowering women as the primary drivers of family welfare. Through a Community Service (PkM) program, the implementing team carried out a diversification initiative for products made from local ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) as an innovative solution to improve family nutritional status while simultaneously strengthening household economies. This program was implemented in collaboration with the PKK Mothers of Sungai Pinang Lama Village using educational, training, and mentoring approaches. The activities focused on increasing knowledge of nutrition and family health, training in the production of ginger-based herbal and nutraceutical products, and developing entrepreneurship through innovation in local food products. The results showed a significant increase in partners’ knowledge, production skills, and economic independence. A total of 90% of participants experienced an improvement in understanding nutrition and stunting prevention, and were able to produce instant ginger herbal drinks and nutraceutical biscuits from ginger dregs that have high economic value. This program serves as an example of applying a scientific approach based on local wisdom to realize a healthy, productive, and self-reliant community. Abstrak. Abstract

The nutritional intake of students in Islamic boarding schools during Ramadan is often dominated by carbohydrates, with limited attention to balanced macro- and micronutrient consumption. This imbalance may affect health and learning concentration. This community engagement program aimed to enhance students’ understanding of balanced nutrition during fasting based on physiological principles. The activity was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Assalafi Al Fithrah Surabaya through three phases: initial survey, interactive educational sessions, and follow-up evaluation. Thirty-one students participated in both pretest and posttest assessments. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 54.19 to 66.77 (p = 0.005), indicating a statistically significant improvement. The participatory educational approach proved effective in enhancing students’ nutritional literacy. The program suggests that physiology-based nutrition education can serve as a strategic approach to improving health awareness in Islamic boarding schools. Integrating nutrition education into institutional food management policies is recommended to promote sustainable healthy eating habits.

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major public health problem due to its increasing prevalence, late diagnosis, and limited awareness, particularly in rural communities. Early detection through simple and accessible screening methods is essential to prevent disease progression. This community service program aimed to enhance kidney health awareness and identify early risk factors for renal disorders through the integration of health education and dipstick urinalysis screening among residents of Pundan Village, Banyubiru District, Semarang Regency, Indonesia. The program was implemented using a participatory approach involving 45 adult community members. Activities included interactive health education sessions, urine dipstick screening, basic health measurements, and individualized counseling. The results showed that most participants initially had low knowledge of kidney health, while screening identified several risk indicators related to kidney dysfunction, including metabolic risk factors and abnormal urinalysis findings. The combination of education and hands-on screening improved participants’ understanding of kidney health and encouraged preventive behaviors. This program demonstrates that integrating health education with dipstick urinalysis is a feasible, low-cost, and effective community-based approach for early detection and prevention of kidney disorders. The model can be replicated in other rural settings to support promotive and preventive health efforts and reduce the burden of chronic kidney disease.
